Hey guys..My husband upgraded our cases to IR-1 as he is a US citizen now. He called up to make sure they received the documents for the upgrade and the officer offered to call him back...and within 2-3 days, we were informed the cases have been upgraded and that Abu Dhabi now needs to set out a date for our interview according to their office schedule...and that as soon as the date is confirmed, NVC will email/mail out the interview notice...which should be in about another week or so. We were advised to call back if we hear nothing within 2 weeks..

So relieved that the loooonnng wait is finally going to end and we get to be together   Wishing everyone good luck with their cases. I'll keep you updated on what happens next.

Gamboli got a reaction from Beast333 in US to require would-be immigrants to turn over social media handles
I was asked for my social media handle and my phone was checked by the DHS agent when I made the trip back to the U.S in 2016. (I even had/have Global Entry).
Now they're just making it official for everyone. I personally don't have any problem with it. You already have to assume that the Big Brother is watching you. So don't do anything stupid or illegal.

For over a year the processing time in CSC was August 22nd, 2016, so technically it moved 2 weeks in over 17 months.

Additionally what most people who are not F2A don't know is that OVERWHELMING majority of the F2A cases are being "processed" by the CSC.

No, just the handles. But they asked me to unlock the phone so they can look at it.
They just gonna look for red flags.

Unfortunately, I think that might have broken continuous residency. On Naturalization form you're expected to enter your departure and arrival dates with the day count. But I'd still suggest you speak with an immigration lawyer as well, if you're in hurry. Many of them offer free consultation before taking you on as a client.

Was she renting, paying mortgage, etc during the period of her absence from the U.S? Those are some of the factors they will take into consideration as well. Status of your residency while filing taxes is a very big one too. If she can establish that her absence was temporary and she didn't abandon her residency for the time she spent outside of the country it might count for something.

It's best if you consult an immigration attorney to give you a tailored response specific to your situation.

@Emmah1979 and Harry, I can assure you that Permanent Resident have not been advancing as much as you put it, as a Spouse of a LPR with a PD of Dec 19, 2016, and an unanswered I-130, I can tell you as much.

Instead, USCIS seems to have been gathering Family preferences at California, while USC have been processed steadily at all the centers, leaving them out of CSC as much as possible, while keeping LPR cases out of the other centers, I guess they have kept a minimun quota of each at every center. But you can see it in the table attached, that is from last quarter of 2017, and available at USCIS website.

The bulk of LPR cases that are actually being approved right now are from Nov 21, 2016, but had been stuck for three months in November, because last December the most advanced case was From Nov 4th. Jump to the Family preference section of the forum, and see that for yourself.

USCIS pis playing an unfair game where everyone loses. Pending cases at CSC have reached the number of 690,000 of pending I-130 as of the last quarter of fiscal year 2017. While the second Center with most pending I-130 only reaches 20% of that number. I invite you to see for yourselves, and research AILA's website, where they keep CSC old processing times for reference, and youll see how litte LPR spouses and child cases have move, and how our wait has increased from 6 months to 16. (You can Googlr AILA CSC Procesing Time)

I think @Gamboli and @blessB are talking about the unofficial app to keep track of the USCIS cases. I have read a lot of people with the same doubt, it could have been something at USCIS changing the template for pending cases, or with the app developers of the app. Just dismiss it, the cases are still in the same status.

    Yes they send an email.
It looks like that F2A is stable and that progress should be around 1 months per 1 months for the upcoming months to come.

    Hi Guys,

just a fast heads up in regards to NVC processing times for F2A.  There are multiple threads for CR1 and K1 visas but non for F2A.
My documents where received and scanned by NVC mid February and today March 7 we got case completed and approved by NVC.
My wife and I are very happy, will have a glass of Champagne later on

However, this shows that NVC does process F2A in the same speed as they would for CR1 and they are much faster than the 11 weeks they state on their website. Good luck everyone. Hope everyone will be with his partner soon!

The whole process for me took 1 month, but I know it all depends on the demand, and availability of the local offices.

1- The first step is to submit all the document so they can do a background check (This processes shouldn't take long, unless you have name similarity with people on the watch lists)
2- If you got approved you have to schedule an interview, some regions have multiple different offices you could choose from, you could select from the available slots (This could be the lengthiest part, it could even be months before they have slots available)
3- You go to meet with the officer who'll do the interview, they're very good at reading people, especially since they have all your records in front of them, if there is no red flag, you should get your card within 2 weeks. The interview was very brief in my experience.

We must wait until they start making interview appointments soon enough, but for April's Visa Bulletin it should be somewhere between April 15th and May 1st, 2016.

    I'm hoping for May 1st, 2016

Currently it only looks like a 3 weeks movement till 22. March, 2016. I hope we get one more week and I would post here if so. For now only 3 weeks which is less than expected

Hi! I know it was for Michael, but you can check the forum's predictions here:

    http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/visa-bulletin-predictions-family-sponsored.php

For March's Visa Bulletin it is set to March 31st, 2016. Might as well be April 1st. Remember that February's VB had a section that specifies future movements for F2A to be between 3 and 5 weeks.

We get it, it's an anniversary all of us would rather have it already with our GC.

My wife and I now reached the 1 year, 1 month and 1 week milestone, and still not even a response from the i-130. It's just absurd.

Or maybe address the ridiculous price of healthcare in the US. This would solve many more problems. The same medicine that costs $60 in Canada costs over $600 in the US. This is a much more pressing problem.

Absolutely false......unless the relative signs an agreement for financial responsibility..

and insurance information is asked for before any treatment unless the patient is unconscious..

I had to go to ER about a year ago after my car got t-boned. I was asked to fill out paperwork before I was admitted, but they didn't ask for my insurance (at least I can't remember) until after I was about to be released. But I remember having to provide not only my healthcare insurance, but also the information of the driver that hit me with their car (it was their fault) before I was let go.

I think this is one of the major issues... what is a Public Charge?

Per the Department of State what is considered a "public charge" :
     Food stamps
    · Supplemental Security Income ("SSI")
    · Medicaid
    · Temporary Assistance for Needy Families ("TANF")
    · State Child Health Insurance Program ("CHIP")

    http://www.i-864.net/blog/do-i-864-sponsors-have-to-pay-medical-bills

Here are two websites that breakdown the gray area of the responsibility of the sponsor and the definition of what is considered a "public charge".

Receiving medical care at a Hospital, as a hospital is not a government agency, in not considered becoming a Public Charge.

Here is the issue with the current system. People are assuming everyone that immigrates is being very responsible and looking into health insurance plans when they enter or shortly after they enter the country. Realistically the current system does not require anyone to have or seek health insurance. Our current Medical System will not turn away anyone (if you have for example a heart attack or stroke) and people will always receive treatments whether or not they have insurance. A medical bill provided from a hospital is a private contract for services rendered (you are not considered a public charge for receiving medical treatments without health insurance). The hospitals will get what they can out of you but then the government eats the remaining debt through taxes. This is also a problem with USC as well but if we are going to say its okay to bring parents then we should also set up regulations that are appropriate and not rely on a good faith system of "we hope immigrants understand US health care".

I think we can all agree that this loop hole should be closed and their should be a requirement of proof of insurance and reasonable funds before immigrating here with someone that will not be working or through parental immigration. The current requirement of just above the poverty line is not sufficient proof that you have adequate funds to care for a parent.

My father's transport to the hospital during his stroke was 80,000 dollars. He has insurance but they didn't get his information during the life threatening event, so my parents accidentally received the transport self pay bill to their house. Current financial requirements are not set up to ensure immigrants can pay bills like this. And my father was healthy and playing golf every day before his stroke. Health emergencies happen, they are unplanned, saying your parents are healthy now doesn't ensure they will be in a week.
