    Hello everyone!

I'm gathering my N400 packet however I'm unsure about the address/job history I have to provide.

I will be applying under ina section 319(e) (Overseas naturalization for military spouse) under the 3 year rule.

Do I need to provide 5 years history or 3?

You will need to provide address and employment for the past 5 years.

  2. Final update

Finally received my social security card in the mail. I was hoping it would get here before May 11th and it did. I immediately went and applied for a new Real ID DL yesterday as soon as I got the social.

3/31/21 - Documents dropped off at USPS to be mailed to SSA local Victorville, CA office.

4/5/21 - Documents delivered at local Victorville, CA office.

4/12/21 - Called to inquire on my documents and I was told I would get a call back that day.

4/13/21 - Received call back and the rep told me my document still have not been scanned, and that the process will take about a month due to high volume.

4/16/21 - Called to inquire on my documents and I was told that since it has not been 4 weeks since the received my documents, they could not give me an update.

4/21/21 - Called to inquire on my documents and I was told documents still have not been processed.

4/24/21 - Received my documents back as well as the acceptance letter.

4/27/21 - Received new Social Security card in the mail.

  3. Update,

I received my documents back on Saturday and the notice says the new card was processed on April 22. The letter says I should be getting my new social security card in about two weeks.

  4. Update,

Still have not received anything back. I called my local office and they told me my documents haven't even been scanned yet. They said to give them about a month to to process.

Oh, I didn't know he can just do a  walk-in for his bio - great info, thank you!!!

To expedite  - they will probably ask for a proof of a pending deployment... Who should he contact for that? - sorry another "dumb' question, but I'm just being a mom :) It took forever to get back his certified N-426, so I'm afraid even to guess how the process of requesting the "proof" is gonna  look like...

He can submit his orders. Prior to his deployment, he should get some orders that show the dates of his deployment.

It did ask - if he has a deployment within next THREE months....That's why he couldn't put "yes" since his is scheduled for the end of Sept-Oct...

Ok, I didn't recall how long it asked for?

One thing I recommend is walking in to a nearby ASC and taking his biometrics. As a servicemember, he is able to walk in to get his bios done without an appointment. This will at least get him ahead of the game with bios.

Then, I would say 3 months prior to his deployment call USCIS and request an expedite on his case. Military deployment constitutes a basis for expedite.

    Hey, guys.

Sorry if it's been answered before, but I'm  having troubles to navigate the answer I'm looking for...

My son's N-426  got certified so he could finally submit his N-400, online.

It says estimated time is 10 months - should be over by Jan.2022.

The thing is he is going to be deployed in Sept-Oct, and apparently will still  be overseas in Jan. 2022..

I've read somewhere that very often military guys get N-400 denied due to failure to show up for appointment ...because od deployment, duties...etc.

So, what should we do and when should we start doing something to avoid the "complications"?

    Thank you!

Is he going to get deployed out of states?

We don't have our SSN connected to our license here in CA either, the DL number is a completely random number.

CA DMV verifies all the info with SSA before issuing a new DL/ID, which is the issue OP had (his naturalization certificate with his new name doesn't match the info SSA has in their system). After a name change you can't just walk into DMV and get a new license in your new name, you need to update SSA first as DMV goes strictly by the info SSA has. It sucks, but that's how it is.

    Yes, it does suck indeed.

I did not want to send in my SSA, but I honestly had no choice to get that DL. I can't ship to training under a different name. Lol

  9. Hey all,

Looking through the posts and I see that most of the new citizens applied for their passport before their SS card.

I will be updating my social security card (with a name change) first before my passport.

Reason for me is that I ship to military training in mid May, and I must have my updated Social Security card and updated DL in order for me to ship.

In case you didn't know, here in CA in order to get a new DL your SS number needs to be updated first. Not sure if it's like that in all States honestly.

Hopefully I can have everything done before I leave lol.

The passport can wait for me until I come back.

Anyone else request their SS number first?

    Quick timeline:

3/31/21 - Documents dropped off at USPS to be mailed to SSA local office.

  10. Hey all,

I am officially done with my immigration process. I had my naturalization interview today, got approved, and had a same-day oath.

Appointment was at 1:15pm. My wife and I entered at 1:00pm and got our temperature taken and had the usual Covid screening questions. Once inside, we had to go to the second floor, turn in my appointment letter and wait to be called by an officer.

Officer called me in around 1:45pm. My wife and I both went, but he told my wife to wait outside. I politely told him that our interview letter says she needs to accompany me as it is a Combo interview. He said that he would only process the N-400 application as the I-751 was no longer necessary.

Once inside, I took the initial oath saying I will say the truth. He proceeded to have me show him my military card, green card, and government ID. Once he verified it was me, he had me take the reading test, and I had to read "Who elects Congress?"

Once that was done, he had me take the Writing test and I had to write "The People elect Congress" on the tablet.

He then proceeded to ask me the civics questions. The 6 questions he asked were:

What is one promise you make when you become a US Citizen?

Why does the flag have 50 stars?

Who did the US fight in WWII?

The House of Representatives has how many voting members?

What do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance?

What did Susan B. Anthony do?

He stopped after the 6th question.

One thing he did not ask me was which test I wanted to take. Technically I was supposed to choose between the 2020 and 2008 one, but he didn't ask. I was ok with it the 2008 one though because I studied for that one the most. lol

We then went over my application again and I had to change a few things that I accidently put wrong. I work for a University and I put that I was a student there. And the university that I was a student at, I put that I worked there. So that got fixed.

He asked me if I still wanted a name change, and I told him yes. He then proceeded to process the name change and told me that my new name certificate would be given at the oath.

Once I passed the civics test, he proceeded to asking me the yes or no questions. Be alert, he did ask me to define certain terms on the N-400 application. I am glad I studied definitions because they were part of my interview. He asked me to define communism, genocide, militia, and another term I cannot recall.

Once we went over the application, he said I had been approved. He told me I was still early enough to make it to the oath ceremony down below.

I asked him what will happen to the I-751 application that was pending. He told me not to worry about it. He said that since I applied through military, my I-751 did not have to be approved for me to become a citizen.

I then left his office, my wife and I went downstairs to the oath ceremony room and I conducted the oath by myself.  My wife was allowed to see... just couldn't take pictures or anything.

After the oath I was given my Certificate of Naturalization along with the name change request. Overall, the process was nice and smooth.

Feel free to ask me any questions.

Oh nice. That's great. Are you applying on the 3 or 5 year rule? I am filing based on Military Service.

It looks a lot of use have seen movements on our cases so far. A lot of us SB filers have interviews scheduled already. Hopefully you see an interview for you soon as well.

not bad,is really  straight forward, and finally done,

anyway,, hope u got the same days for the oath, coz i noticed  2 week ago, there are some applicant that got the same day for oath ceremony.

other than that u dont need to back and forth and no need to fill out form N-445 if u got oath in the same day.

😁 my schedule at 2 PM, and i came to the office at. 1;30 Pm, a head of me, they were already 6 cars waiting before the entry of parking lot. then, at 1;40 pm, they let us in to the parking lot, but before proceed to parking lot, they did screening about covid 19, as usual a question yes or no related to covid-19

inside the parking lot, they checked and verified my paper, green card and they asked a question in the form N-445 that i signed already. after all verified, they asked me to proceed to the oath ceremony's place that is in front of main door of the office , so i saw about 10 cars but they make 2 lines,

and they told me to turn off the engine and step out the car for the oath. and when done the oath, they gave me US naturalization certificate, yey 😁😁😊🤸

when i checked the time is only 1;54 pm.

noted : they not allow us to take pic or video when the oath ceremony 😭

Nice. Congrats! Glad to hear you are all done. I am looking forward to my interview tomorrow. A same-day oath would be nice, but like I mentioned, I am requesting a name change so I do not see that happening. Lol.

I am really hoping that this combo interview is smooth and quick.
