This article is not related to AoS but I found it interesting it shed some light on what must be going on at USCIS: H1B visas drowning in paperwork. 
 
Two important points from the article:
1. "Premium processing": the promise of processing applications within 15 days rather than months. It was eliminated, then restored. It's caused confusion and delays.
 
2. More RFE's have been sent out by USCIS for H1B visas in our current presidents first year than any year of the Obama administration. Sad!
 
Basically, the H1B visas have caused massive paperwork backlog. I imagine that on some days, they shuffle officers around to help paperwork in one department and the rest get pushed aside and this causes the delays and long wait times experienced by us.

Getting back, now looking for a job routine but I do see lots of people still waiting EADs and APs. I just want to you all know that we share the same frustration, all the delay and not enough info from USCIS it is absolutely unreal and I understand that. People, I look forward to the day that we will just look back and be thankful for everything, every word, people, things that we have shared through this forum, I AM WITH YOU.
 
Keep it up...we all will be fine in the end and pursuing our happy life with our lovers.

@Greencard188 Impossible to know the answer to your question. There is no set timeline USCIS must follow. I suggest just calling regularly and asking to talk to a level 2 rep. I also will be taking pics of my mailbox just in case.

Exactly and just to add, I don’t think just a booked flight home is going to be enough for them to see she has ties to her home country. She will still be denied because what’s a ticket back home, if you lose it you’re not losing much. She needs to have a job, a house in her name, bank accounts with lots of activities, family, etc. Without at least that, she will be denied.

We already submitted a case inquiry and tomorrow we are going to be in front of the office at 8am to see what's possible to do. We also scheduled an Infopass and the first date available is January 29th.
Why this is happening for so many people? Can @geowrian or @Boiler give us their impression? 
It's horrible, we wait for so long and no case updates online or mail, then you miss your interview...

It takes as long as it takes. Everything with immigration is a test of patience because nothing is ever fast. To be fair, they get about 100,000 family-based AOS requests every quarter (and around 200,000 total AOS requests per quarter). That's a *lot* of forms to go through, interviews, paperwork, etc.
 
Yes, coming in on a K-1 actually may make a difference. You've already had some checks performed before arrival, so they tend to be a little faster. Not "fast" by any means, and they can still take over a year, but it's generally faster than somebody adjusting from a tourist visa or something.

It has been 5 months since we filed our AOS paperwork. Does anyone have ANY idea when I might expect to receive my GC/interview date/ANY kind of communication from USCIS?

We almost have the same timeline. I'm also sitting on 87 days w/o my EAD/AP combo cards, but received a notice for interview just this week. It's getting harder and harder to tell these days who's getting what.  You can always call USCIS and raise SR just to see what's going on. You're not the only one waiting, some people here are on their 100+ days and still nothing. Try not to worry or stress about it so much. Just like I did. I was losing sleep and misplaced my cell phone and found it in the freezer an hour later, because of this whole immigration process! LOL!

You could try, I'm not sure if it did help though. We got the Combo Card yesterday! It came surprisingly fast so at least you have that to look forward to. Once you get approval, you can expect the card very soon. Thank you! Yes, it is a real relief!
 
Edit: Oh by the way, I submitted all my SR's for the I-765 online on submit case inquiry. The ones I did on the telephone never got assigned or completed!!

OMG! Just checked our case status and it now says Interview is scheduled!!

We got our approval on December 2nd and after a week, we still had not received the EAD card in the mail.
 
So we called a Tier 2 officer every other day asking where/when the card will be sent. They kept telling that it can take 60 days and that we should just wait.
 
I decided to make an Infopass appointment, which took 2 weeks because there were no available appointments. My wife had a job offer waiting for her to get her EAD. We thought making an appointment to see a live person would provide us with something she can use in the interim to work.
 
APPARENTLY, the office that did my wife's biometrics sent them ONLY for her i485 and did NOT also mark that the biometrics were for her i765, even though we were filing for both and it stated on our biometrics appointment paper that it was for both. So they did not print her EAD card.
 
There was NO WAY I would have known this if I had not made an Infopass appointment. The officers over the phone and the ones handling the emails were all useless. NONE of them had told me this had happened. This would have gotten sorted out WAY sooner if ANY of them had truly cared about our case. We received 0 notices that we were missing our biometrics for her i765.
 
So it goes to show that even if you do every step perfectly, USCIS can still mess up processing your case, fail to tell you that your case is being held up, and then do nothing to compensate or accommodate their OWN MISTAKE after you go out of your way to meet them in person.

If anyone else got an approval notice and hasn't gotten their card in the mail after a week, MAKE AN INFOPASS APPOINTMENT ASAP and save yourself from the stress and headaches I had to go through.

Hope you are all doing well. I wanted to update on my InfoPass appointment. I went today to ask why my approved I-131 has not been delivered (I received approval notice on Nov 29, 2017) and was told that the post office could not deliver it and NBC does not currently have it. The immigration officer told me it means I will have to apply for I-131 again, basically starting the whole process over again.
 
I'm really upset because I have made all arrangements for wedding and travel in late March, and it looks like it might not happen. But it's ok - I guess some time life does not go the way you want it and there are things out of your control. Therefore I will focus on other aspects of my life.
 
On a side note, I asked about my I-485, which has been in "case ready to be scheduled for an interview" since September 26 and was told that "the case is almost ready to be picked up". The officer said that online status is one thing, but what it means is that my case is ready to be picked up by the local field office. For Chicago, he said that it could be another 1-2 months, which is consistent which what I heard that the Chicago field office usually schedules interviews within 4-5 months. Hope this information is useful for some of you Chicago filers! Good luck everyone!

Oh hmm so it does. Yet it says "updated Jan 5" at the bottom. I'm throwing my hands up. I have no damn clue. I really wish we had one of those memory flash things from the Men in Black movies that wipe your memory so I can wipe mine of this whole thing.

That's how I feel since I filed for this thing. It just makes me wonder why me. And you, and some others. I mean, a lot of people here already received their cards and that's something, not everything but something. They can move on with their lives (and it IS a different feeling and especially a whole different mental state) while I just feel like I can't do anything anymore in this place regarding paperwork lol not in that "at least I have a EAD or AP" club yet. 
 
Birthday is this week 🎂, please forces of the cosmos may you lighten up an officer's mind about our cases and make him approve everyone's EAD/AP cards soon... 
 
Every time I called they were just surprised of how far behind my case is, but oh well "nothing I can do for you honey...  just wait" 

Dont relly on USCIS processing times page, like I normally say, it is hard to hope/believe in that and our best best it is really gather a combination of processing times from VJ, Users feedback, and USCIS page....and still nothing is 100% accurate.
 
There is a lot going on under the immigration area that may end up affecting the entire process.

Hey guys, it's been a while. Been on vacation but now that we're officially in 2018, I thought I'd pop in and see how everyone's doing. Haven't received any updates on EAD or an interview. I'm thinking about this point, I should maybe try contacting the congressperson and ombudsman?! I was kinda enjoying NOT thinking about this for a while. I'm not even sure how many days it's been since my PD anymore. Congrats to all those who have gotten good news and good luck to the rest of us who still need to wait. 

I don't normally pray but this process is so taxing that I'm resorting to it too. Hoping for good news for everyone!!! <3

You're worrying about something that's not going to happen. There will be no suspicion that you are using him just to get to Nashville. Especially since you have other visa paths that could get you there (P1, for example) if you really wanted that wouldn't involve the lifelong commitment of marriage. 
 
My husband is from Seattle. I was never asked if I listened to Nirvana and even showing up for the interview in a Nirvana t-shirt would not have caused any suspicion... Neither was I suspected of just wanting to work for Microsoft or Starbucks. 
 
Have you met in person? You didn't say if you had or not and I didn't want to assume. Focus on evidence of time spent together. That's all they are bothered about, not what work you plan to do when you get there.

Well I hope I haven't messed up my own case. After my service requests showed up as "assigned and completed", I finally got a letter from them stating I need to fax them a job offer letter. Except I don't have one?? And i didn't realize my second SR was an expedite request. The officer told me it was just a "different" kind of SR with a faster response time. I did call and the lady told me it won't affect my case if I don't respond to the expedite request. But I'm still kinda worried that whoever has my file will be waiting for a job letter from me before making a decision. Any suggestions?? I almost just want to give up waiting on the EAD and just wait for the interview. 

What do you mean by general inquiry?  Is it on your online status?
