    document was mailed ?

    i got this after NOA1

    help!!

They have the wrong address for you from your application, go check your copy of the application. “Document was mailed” status actually meant mail was returned to uscis as undelivered in our case. Our street address had some inversed numbers due to sloppy work typing by our attorney. You need to update the address with uscis to end this delay.

  2. First remain calm Its a long painful process. Getting extra worked up just makes it worse, be like water and go with the flow. Trust me your going crazy we all do, being a better calmer you is super important right now.

I will tell you what that status really meant for us but it may be something different for you keep that in mind.

we got that document mailed notice which actually meant they had sent us a document that was “returned to sender” (why they dont just say that!!!?….) because my attorney had messed up our street address in the application 1789 instead of 1879. You need to go review the copy of your sent application make sure the address is where you actually live.

if indeed you need to update your address with them thats your next step. Bad news/goodnews now your already delayed, added 6 months for us and we were the last of our cohorts approvals. Good news its nothing bad in terms of if your actually approved in the end.
stay calm, flow like water with the process.

Actually you need country specific guidance.  Most countries do not have a registration procedure for a foreign marriage,  you need to understand if Brazil does and if it does what are the benefits of doing so

    Gottcha, Brazil does offer it.

ill hit the Brazilian consulate on Wednesday see if they will give advice on pros/cons

There is no question how we feel about each other. That is very clear. Her concern is that we haven't lived with each other yet, and that the time apart has been a lot and maybe she has changed, and afraid that we went too fast. I honestly don't feel that way and I think it's just her fears overclouding her judgement, because after I talked to her about it she seemed fine.

You definitely learn a lot about your partner during the process. And you definitely learn alot about them still as your life together begins. Nothing to do but to do it. Best of luck, im sure it will all work out, it is a highly emotional time and process.  Jump with your eyes open its all any human on earth can do.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but it's relevant.

So, we are now in the final stages of schedule medical and the interview and my fiance just was crying and talking about how scared she is. She said she felt unsure about everything and scared that we rushed things, she would feel more confident if we lived together longer beforehand, or whatever... and I am here reading what she's typing and my heart stops because i'm thinking to myself "we've been waiting for 8 months for this moment and NOW you're telling me this?"

So anyway, we talked and she said "You always know how to calm me down." Everything seems fine now, but has anyone gone through this? I am afraid this is some deeper thing. Has anyone gone through this and did it come back or have to address it again later?

it does have the possibility of foreshadowing future troubles... that said I have the feeling you don't have any cold feet, so does it matter, your going to go forward to find the answer anyway. My only advice is to keep your hopes and expectations in check, consider if your willing to be ok with worse case scenario and then keep moving towards that best case scenario. Just be practical, you are entering a high risk situation even in the best of situations. people leaving home and country comes with challenges. marriage without cohabitation first comes with challenges. You seem strong continue to lend her a hand until she refuses it, then walk away if she decides so, def don't try to force the situation.

I have readed all the instruction, answered all the form needed, followed the VisaJourney Immigratiom Guideline and collected all the documents and evidence (even the optional). Base on your experience did you hire a lawyer or did it your self. Would hiring a lawyer help in increasing the odds of getting approve. Share your experience and thoughts.

Im kinda hesitant to spend $1,500 hiring a lawyer but still if they providw a big help why not spend:unsure:

Avoid lawyers at all costs unless your forced to hire one. The only thing they add is cooks to the kitchen to do things like inverse your street address numbers you took the time to fill correctly first. you have 1 case they have 80 and minimum wage paralegals in employ who actually do the work. Lawyers have absolutely no special channel into the immigration system. They can only do what you can do yourself, but with less self interest involved. I paid 3k and the only 1 good thing they did(as well as many many bad) was to create a cover exhibits page and then list each item by the exhibit letters, my 129-f had an exhibit A separator page for example. Add an introductory exhibits page yourself save the cash, also save the frustration ironically.

I'm not sure if spy is what I would think of immediately, but if the OP was an officer in the US for 20 years, then that name will be in a *lot* of paperwork, and will cause a lot of hits on a FBI name check.  Going back 20+ years will mean that they will have to pull actual paper copies of items where the name shows up...  I can't even begin to think of the number of times that the OPs name will come up in a search; I have a suspicion that it is a significant cause for delays, though at 3 years, the delay is excessive.  I would tend to agree that a WoM is in order at this stage...

opps your right. I was thinking chinese officer for 20 years lol

We got our NOA1 Notice on 3/1/2018...we were planning our wedding for August 4th but we were told that is highly unlikely.  Now my fiance is very skeptical when we can actually plan our wedding for.  I was told by USCIS it might be approved between August-October.  If we are approved by October whats next...her medical exam and then her interview...?

    How long does that take?

Is it safe to try to plan a wedding for January?

Is all this delay because of Trump?

390 days to k1 visa delivery right here, no rfe, nothing, just a long wait for no apparent reason... No you shouldnt plan for January. You can hope for January though and plan tentatively.

Most USCIS people don't know what the hell they're talking about, so that's why you get a different story each time you call them. I agree with AnaUmo: at this point, just communicate with NVC. If NVC doesn't have your case/petition after a month or so past your NOA2 date, then you might have to follow up with USCIS unfortunately.

all uscis people at the call center don't know what they are talking about, they themselves cant even contact the California service center which is the only place on earth that actually knows whats going on with the case. The actual processing centers are intentionally insulated from any outside influence and you have no recourse. They need to just close the call center it only is an illusion of some kind of accountability or help, it would be a more honest process if they didn't even exist.

Yes agreed just contact NVC at this point.

Thank you Shumway88 for replying. I did speak to 2 different tier 2 officers and now they've got me more confused. The first one I spoke with told me they are doing additional background check and to wait for 30 days and the second one who couldn't wait to get me off the phone told me the background check has already been completed and to wait. she told me that they processed my application backwards, instead of first doing a background check before approving the application, they approved it and sent it for background check which according to her was completed on the same day. she didn't answer my question about it being approved and kept saying just wait. I'm so confused. Btw, I got my approval letter 2 weeks ago.

tier 2 has absolutely no information except the same online info you can see. You are approved and they didnt update your online status... probably never will.

happens to a very high percentage of all applicants, no need to worry you are approved.

going good. nope some stragglers are still trying to cross the finish line along with you. We had the consulate interview next Wednesday but a Brazilian truckers union strike has crippled fuel supply in Brazil. the airports are closed and the freeways blocked by strikers... looks like July probably for us after an interview reschedule now... amazing our bad luck

Leaving for Brazil tonight. Hoping we can make it to the Rio consulate for Wednesday. Should have an update next week : )

I will be divorcing my wife who I have sponsored. I signed an affidavit of support and my father was a co-sponsor. My wife does not work, and my lawyer feels that some spousal support is unavoidable for at least some period of time, probably a year max. However my father is very concerned about the affidavit of support. In reality, what kind of trouble can we expect down the road? I know that my wife wouldn't qualify for income based services like food stamps (unless she didn't list mine and my father's income when applying) and if she did, then the government could sue us to get the money back. But are there other issues? Like if she is uninsured and goes to the hospital? Can't pay her rent? Racks up credit card debt?

    Thanks

After the divorce any new debt is not your problem. That said she wont be listing your or your fathers income when she does go for public assistance because you will be divorced...

Join me on the darkside! Day 214 - they will get to all of us eventually :)

There are still SO many of us in October still waiting, not to mention others still waiting in previous months who are passed 300+ days.

Here's another great thread should you surpass 200+, there's a post by @NateAndJessica that really resonated with me on page 4....

    We'll get there :)

Thanks @HTMW Hope some others at the end of their ropes read it. That rant should be a required pamphlet you have to read even before filing the application lol
