A couple things I caught. Note, I didn't do an AOS from a K-1 visa though, so not sure what additional documents are needed there.

    • Assuming you are also submitting I-130? If not, you need as supporting documents which you did not include in your list
      • Husbands' birth certificate
      • Husband's tax returns (at least one year, up to three years) and ideally last 6 months of pay stubs for his I-864
      • Evidence of bona fide marriage (e.g., photos, joint bank accounts, joint lease, etc.)
    • You only need one G-1145, attached to the I-130
    • Do you have any past EAD cards? If so, need front and back photocopies of all
    • Don't need marriage license with I-131
    • Include translation of birth certificate if not in English (seeing you're from Romania)

Thank you. Will remove all the extra docs.

I've put the tax returns with the Affidavit of support. 3 years

We used full copy of passport instead of birth certificate. It worked for the K1.....

About evidence... Hope we don't get any RFE.... But for now the marriage is kinda new, by the time of the interview we will have more evidence  (naturally) of bona fide marriage....

    No previous EAD cards...

My birth certificate has Romanian, French and English on it, so no translation, I hope it will be ok without an extra translation

  2. Hi,

Could somebody quickly double check if I thought about everything for the AOS? How you organized them? Separately bound them together and put it in the same envelope? Do I need something else? Did I miss anything?

Thank you. Any thoughts of Question 9?

This is my two cents on it.... I just did my vaccinations today. I needed an MMR shot. You only need the I693 if your DS3025 is not "complete". After seeing an USCIS approved civil surgeon they gave me the sealed envelope of the I693. So I will send that in the AOS package. The original Vaccination Documentation Worksheet you got form your overseas medical is just a copy of the original which you turned in at POE. (It was in the package)

Btw it's hard to find a good civil surgeon around here who knew whats going on. Called like 5 from the website, some wanted to redo the whole medical, some didn't know whats going on even if I found them on the USCIS website.... So if you need one don't give up, call several until you feel they know what they are talking about....

You need 3 photocopies.  One for each petition.  The I-864 is an affidavit of support and as mentioned stays with the I-485 along with it's own documentation.  The g-1145 is just an I initial email and text form.  After the initial email or text you have to sign up online for more updates.

3 certified copies by the office of the Recorder of Deeds or "regular" photocopies?

Ugh stupid airline policies not catching up with immigration laws. He should be ok, he’s not required to show information about the purchase of his plane tickets at POE. A lot of people on VJ have reported flying with an immigrant visa on a round trip ticket just because sometimes it’s cheaper to buy a return than a one way. You guys will be fine.

Least at  Ohare you don't go to the typical tourist, visa wavier line. There is a separate line for immigrant, H1B, L, F and all other visa line, so I assume the officer there is more prepared to deal with this type of visas. I was proactive and ask the ground personnel which line you should I stand because I didn't see the line at the end of a huge place. I was out faster than the turist visa/vwp.

We don't even care now. It's done and over with. I was just asking if anyone else has recently had this experience.

I flew with Turkish Airlines, one way ticket. No questions asked. The security is not that well prepared in Istambul about K1 visa, they ask the regular questions e.g how long you stay, your purpose of the visit, etc, but beside that there were no questions and they don't even mentioned  a return flight....

HI - I will try to address your table of contents according to what I found for our interview in March.

    • NOA2 - we brought the original and they gave it back to us before we left - you will need it for AoS
    • Intention to marry - should be updated to current date, no wet signature needed
    • Affidavit of support - does not need a wet signature
    • The divorce certificate should be a copy from the judge (i.e. the county where the divorce was finalized), not a photocopy. They will give this back at the end of the interview.
    • copy of biographical page of the beneficiary
    • proof of relationship - chat logs can just be printed

    For the medical

    • passport
    • photos like you mentioned
    • vaccination report (obtain however you can, through family doctor or school records)
    • certificate of health from family doctor
    • the embassy will not schedule an interview for you until a week after your medical, so I don't know what that's talking about - no "invitation" necessary...

Have you received your documents yet with instructions from the embassy? If not, I can email them to you. Just DM me your email address

Strangely I didn't get any e-mail notification from the website and saw your reply only now.

I did receive the "instructions" e-mail from the embassy but honestly i would not say  instructions, some vague stuff about how to book the medical and basically that's all, and ah bring all your evidence with you.... Expected a little bit more, but thanks to you and others I knew what I need to bring.

From the original list they didn't ask for 2, 11e (you just need to provide the NVC number) 13 and 14.

As of birth certificate for the interview I had only the original and a copy, no translation. Somebody suggested  to change my birth certificate to the newer one which has English, French and Romanian on it so I won't need to translate it in the future. So I did that. Will see how that will work out for AOS...

  8. Professional picture. Be sure the photographer knows the requirements for US visa picture. (Size, proportions, other requirements). Asked for the digital copy and also printed out 6 at the lab on photo paper for the medical and interview. Used the digital copy for the DS-160.

Be sure the picture is crisp and all focused. Turns out mine was not completely perfect despite the professional setting. The lady at the interview almost didn't take the picture, but in the end it was accepted, but she said I should not use that for further documents and get a new one.

The I-134 with a wet signature. Last years taxes (2017) and you can include 2015,2016 if you want. Updated letter of intent. One signed from you. One signed from him. And proof. Pictures, chats, call logs, screen shots...pretty much the same things everyone else is taking but some embassies don't even look at everything brought. Go to the portals button up top and go to your embassies website. It'll tell you.

for my fiancé he needed court records, police records, birth cert and letter that he's legally single, since they're all in French or Arabic, he has to translate anything non English to English. Plus don't forget the appointment letter. Make a check list and pretend you're Santa clause , check it twice.

I think all of this really depends on the embassy. The embassy in Bucharest, Romania was fine with scanned wet signature for affidavit and new intent to marry (he signed the page and scanned it and i printed it out before the interview), but they wanted original/certified divorce decree. (He got it from the courthouse, it had an extra page attached to it declaring it is a 100% copy of the original one, or something similar. Can look up the wording if needed.)

At the embassy stage i was lucky there were people on this forum who had interviews in Bucharest and they were super helpful. Also with  all the info I got from them I just called the embassy and asked them (phone and email) again if it is ok or not and printed out the e-mail conversation just in case they change their minds :)))

I know it is hard. Try to compile a list of what you want to take and send them an e-mail and ask if it is ok to be a scanned copy, or if u need to translate anything from hungarian to english etc etc. (PM me and i will send the checklist i had for the interview)

  10. A tiny update:

Had my interview on Monday, it went fine. Most of the questions were about the history of the relationship (we have a significant age gap), if we have met each others family, what languages we speak, how we communicate. Otherwise it was the standard interview. The consul lady was very nice and professional.

One important thing was they are really picky about the 5x5 pictures you bring. I had the correct size, the correct  face/body ratio everything by the book. Turns out it was not that sharp at one place, but you really need to look, or I just dont see that well (lol) ( maybe after the resize it went blurry a bit, or at printing). The lady who took the documents finally said she will take the picture, but make a new set of pics for AOS.

    talking about emails and stuff..

for some reason I have not received any emails, all has been sent to my mister, saying "please forward to your fiancee" lol

like for real? lol well at this stage now the embassy has my data so finally i get them too!

Exactly the same happened for us too. Also I thi nk without this forum I couldnt be able to have everything they are going to ask. The e-mail was not a big help. I would just do what they would write in that e-mail, probably I would end up with request for more documents :)) Glad I found this cool community on this site.

  12. I called today. It took them a while (on hold for a few minutes, but heard vaguely what she was discussing with somebody) , but figured it out. Based on my passport number they found the payment. So before doing the payment on the bottom of the page will appear my name and below that, the Receipt Number. (Also a popup will warn you to save that number, which I did) That is the number they told me back over the phone. So I just wrote that number down to a piece of paper and will take it to the interview. I think majority of people would go to the bank and pay it there, thats why the agent I emailed with wanted the transaction slip from the bank.

  13. Soo

I payed the visa fee online on ustraveldocs using their service called Trusty. After paying i got a confirmation page with barecode and passport info, delivery address i filled out earlier.

I emailed that page to the embassy today on a "feeling" and they said that is the currier confirmation page and not the payment confirmation page and i need to bring the bank receipt... Since I didn't pay at the bank not sure what to bring. After a few email exchange they said bring any proof you have of the payment... Now i feel i screwed it up......

Anybody has experience with this? The embassy is Bucharest.

    Thanks.

hmm.. the approved doctor is very far away from me, but it's in the same city as the place of the interview. Does anyone know if you can do the medical exam on the same day / one day before the interview? Then I wouldnt have to go all the way twice. But I wonder if there needs to be a gap in between for results to be ready?

Call the medical facility and ask. It is specific for country/medical center and what kind of tests they do. E.g where i went i need to wait around a week for the result. There was a different place and if you pay extra they do it same day, but still not fast enough to have the interview and medical on the same day.

I think it doesn't apply for our cases :)

"The All Other Nonimmigrant Visa wait time DOES NOT include K or V visa applications, which are processed similar to immigrant visas.  A, G, and NATO applications are excluded from these wait times, as they are processed separately."

I’m sorry, what is the usatraveldocs profile and where you find that?

    http://www.ustraveldocs.com/hu

I needed to fill out this with passport info, where i want my password to be delivered if the visa is approved, and I payed the visa fee thru this website. (Need to bring the confirmation page to the interview). Also for some countries ppl can schedule the interview on this website. Might be different for Hungary. Best would be to e-mail the embassy or call and ask for the next steps.

  17. 6 minutes ago, Kari & Atti said:

I see! No, I have not received the packet 3, but I am the petitioner so maybe Atti will receive it. So it’s not a physical mail sent to his home?

That is also depends on the embassy. For Bucharest they sent an e-mail to the petitioner in English asking to forward the e-mail below to me which was in Romanian, and also it didn't contain too many useful information.E.g they left out half of the stuff needed for the medical, so if I would just blindly follow what they said, I would have needed to make to trips to Bucharest just for the medical. So from here on the process is not really uniform. If you have questions you should address the embassy where the interview will take place just to be sure you have the correct information. Or you could ask people who went thru Budapest. I 've met a couple of really nice and helpful people here who helped me with info about the Bucharest embassy.
