  1. So I went to my dentist for the first time in America with the insurance provided through my employer. I have a question about the discrepancy between my receipt from the dentist and the insurance company record.

The dentist told me that they worked on a tooth on four surfaces, which has  a copay of, say $100, which I paid.

But according to my insurance company, I did a tooth on one surface, which has a copay of, say $60. So my out of pocket spending on file with the insurance company is less than what I actually paid.

This is the gist of my experience. I feel this is really strange, but I do not know what. Have you had similar experience that you could share? Thank you!

Yeah we had an Infopass last week - the woman I got was pretty helpful. She said my case was at the NBC, had contacted Philadelphia for an interview date.

My problem though is that USCIS are flat out denying that any 2018 filers are getting interviews. As long as they keep denying that, and it keeps happening, my case will go nowhere. There hasn't been a 2017 filer scheduled for an interview in Philadelphia for months according to VJ timelines, but there have been 6 or 7 from 2018 alone.

Tried the first two - awaiting the Ombudsman to get back to me.

My case is also at NBC. NBC had contacted my local office 1.5 months ago for an interview date and is waiting for my local office's response.

Hi @JoJoJoJo and @logisticamente I am in the same situation as the two of you were. Congratulations to your EAD!!!! I am writing you as it sounds, that you didn't need to proof any financial hardship.

I have a written job offer in my hands for a job starting in 2 weeks and my EAD is pending for more than 80 days now. I guess they might give me two weeks more, but after that I will lose the job offer. I am quite desperate (probably like all of you were :o). Did you send in any other supporting documents, besides the job offer? My company is willing to also write me a letter that states why they need me and why they need me to start now. Will that be enough? There is no real financial hardship neither for the company, nor for me.

I contacted my congressman's office already, as I heard they are more successful with expedition requests sometimes...I didn't put in a USCIS expedition request yet as I heard with congressman they are obsolete.

Hello @Deprimiert I did provide some bills that I incur monthly, e.g., rent, medical insurance, in addition to the job offer. The bills were not in any official format and I merely printed them out and faxed them to USCIS since the bills are all electronic.

I have no idea what caused my case to be expedited and what was enough. I just sent stuff according to VJers' experience. I have not heard of the use of an employer's letter other than a job offer. So not sure if it is going to be useful at all.

(Still I waited for about 150 days, including about 5 weeks of waiting after requesting the expedition.)

I’m also in the LA area I’m assuming your field office is Chattsworth. My case has been “scheduling for interview” since November. Current wait time is 12-25 months I believe so it’ll be a while until we hear something I believe

My case status has been "We received your response to our request for initial evidence. Your case is no longer on hold" since November on the new case tracking site. I was surprised that the new site did not update to “scheduling for interview” when USCIS is doing it...

I've been using a card printed with my husband's name only for 10 years with no problem. My name and birthdate are associated with his file and no one (doctor/dentist/pharmacist) has had problem accepting it.

What Lemonslice says is rather typical.  Mrs. T-B. & Mini-Bone are registered under my account, and all has been well.

They’ll pull up the policy number on the card, and that will show them who is covered under the insurance. Not a problem.

Thank you very much guys! Really appreciate your replies! (Much better than my insurance company who has not replied me yet :) )

  6. Hi guys, I have started to work for almost a month and got our (my spouse and I (AOS pending)) medical+dental+vision insurance through my employer. Recently I received our insurance cards (2 X medical + 2 X dental + 2 X vision) But my names are on ALL of them and my spouse's names are not on ANY of them. The insurance company replied my inquiry in email that this is normal and there is no typo.

My question is, when going to see a doctor, my spouse has to use insurance cards with my name? Do clinics or hospitals accept that?

    What is the difference?

In my case, it has information that the other one does not have.

For one of my case, one says "case received" while the other one, in addition, says "case approved".

For another case of mine, one says "RFE was sent" while the other one, in addition, says, "We received your response to our RFE".

    This new site is amazing!

My husband and I applied for AOS back in September 2017. Had the biometrics done in October and are now waiting for what's next.  Our case is being handled by the Santa Ana, CA office and as of December 31, 2017, they were still processing January 11, 2017.  Does anyone have experience with this office and how long it normally takes?

How did you learn that your case is with your local office?

I am an October filer and I called twice and got different answers. One officer said it is with Santa Ana office and one said it is at the NBC. Really confusing.

every company has their own system. Mostly, the health and other benefit kicks in after 90 days of employment however, I would recommend you ask your HR department

And if that is the case, then get a health insurance. I had one from "Liberty health" which I paid 185$ a month. This was individual plan for me and I had it till my health insurance kicked in from my employer

Thank you for your reply :)

My future company's health plan starts on the first day of employment. But that is really great advice for those who do not have insurance immediately from an employer.

I work for the state government, and we have an employee portal online with information on how to enroll. Maybe your company has something similar. I think they will inform you about it during your first week at work, but you can always ask about it, nothing wrong with that. I just asked a coworker about it on my first day, and we laughed about how excited I was to finally have affordable health insurance for my family (my husband had been uninsured for a decade because he couldn't afford it, and I was uninsured since my arrival in June).

    Thank you very much @MariekeH!!

Sounds like the insurance works perfectly for both of you! :)

I used a company portal to sign a lot of documents except the health insurance. Hopefully they have another portal once I start the job :) I will definitely find a buddy to ask the first thing :)

  11. Hello VJers. I am about to work for a company that provides health insurance and am working on signing various documents. After finished signing all the 10~15 documents, I noted that I did not sign anything related to enrolling a health insurance plan.

Am I supposed to talk directly to the heath insurance company? Thank you for your help! (Have not asked the company yet in case it is too simple and basic....)

I remember your post from somewhere saying that you received an e-mail that your expedite case was under review and that you would get your decision shortly... How long after that e-mail/mail did it take your EAD to get approved? I got the same e-mail today :(

I got that email 29 days before my EAD was approved. Received the card about 10 days later after the case was approved. Good that you are getting a response from them :)

  13. Hi Guys,

Today I got my combo card and we are moving to our new address in a different city for my new job. But I have not received my NOA2s for my EAD and AP yet. I was told by T2 that my NOA2s were mailed one day before my combo card. So I was surprised to not have received them by now.  Are they important? Can I ignore them?

Just now I have changed my address for myself and my spouse on USPS and USCIS (AP-11 and I-865).

    Thank you!!

It is somewhat reliable... In my AOS forums it happened a few times that the Tier 2 said that it was transferred to the local office and then it turned it that this wasn't the case. You can call again and ask another tier 2. If that officer gives the same answer chances are pretty good that it actually is at your local office.

I think my interview letter came from the service center and not my local field office...not sure though

    39 minutes ago, Californiansunset said:

oh and I forgot to say, yes, safe to say that they are happy with your RFIE if it was transferred to your local office. You can still get another RFE if the local office thinks that there is something else missing though.

Also, just realized that the interview letter must come from the local office. If you have documents missing they sometimes just write that in the interview letter to bring instead of giving you an RFE...

Thank you very much @Californiansunset! This is really valuable information!

  15. Today T2 officer told me that my case is with my local office already. Is this really reliable? (I am a 2017 October filer (my local office is processing 2017 Jan filers according to T2 officer).) I am about to move and fear that I miss my interview notice (I will still be with the same local office)

For those who had interview notice already, was the letter from NBC or your local office?

If my file is really with my local office, does this mean NBC is happy with my response to their RFIE? (I am really worried about that)

now it says "Card was Mailed to me" dated today :D

    Thank you for the update!

Mine also says "Card was Mailed to me" dated today. No tracking number though. T2 officer asked me to call back on Monday. But I will call back tomorrow :)
