techinically, USCIS doesnt require you the proof of employment at the time of application or interview. BUT, who else doesnt want to have a job and money to support themselves?  there are many factors affecting your N400 approval. but the office will not reject or delay  your case process by solely because you dont have job.

plus, does house-wife or husband taking care of baby count as a type of "full-time " job with no pay ?

if you are filing N400 based on marriage with US citizen (3-year role), you might or not have to bring your citizen husband to the interview.  as it was not stated on the interview letter.  Even your husband goes with you on that day, he would have to wait in the lobby.  if the officer feels something more needed to evaluate your marriage, s/he might choose to call your husband into the interview room for further discussion. or send you home and submit additional documents.

if you filed based on 5-year role, you can go alone for your interview.

marcusa got a reaction from Tm and Je in Is it possible to e-file N600 online?
wanted to ask if its possible to e-file n600 form online? just like N400 we did before. i searched USCIS for a while but didnt see any place saying that option.
my USCIS account shows the followings:  Select the form you want to file online
Application for Naturalization (N-400) Applic ation to Replace Permanent Resident Card (I-90) Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document (N-565) Request for a Hearing on a Decision in Naturalization Proceedings (N-336)

lots of folks already answeres your questions. i totally agreed!
1, if TX is your permanent (only) home address, your N400 will be processed by TX local office. your Detroit residence history has nothing to do with your case even they approve overnight.  if you just temporarily live in TX but still maintain Detroit residence and claim tax as Michigan resident, you are eligible to file as Michigan resident.
2, if you are not refugee and you earned your permanent resident through work-based category, you can not do anything to expedite your case. Joining military might be an option but do you real want that  path ?   for majority N400 applicants, they just live with it. Being citizen or not would not give their lives big difference. Voting might be one of them but why so urgent to vote on 2020 ?

congrats! its surprising that your case was moving so fast after e-filing N400. especially interview 4 months after biometrics. in our state, it's normal waiting for a year to get the interview.

i read this argument from another immigration forum,

that one of the main reasons for the slowest processing at Minnesota is because MN has the largest number of refugees across the country. Nearly 40 percent of Minnesota’s refugees are from Somalia,20 percent are from Myanmar.like 2017 , the MN government had accepted 2500 new refugees,. when possible assigned to areas where they have friends or relatives. The Minnesota Department of Human Services says that in 2015, more than 90 percent of the state’s refugees said they had ties to Minnesota before arrival. this is like rolling the snowball game.

those refugees are going to apply for US citizen as well.  , refugees are required by law to apply for a green card one year after resettlement in the United States. The green card is a 10-year (renewable) document that offers almost all the benefits. their citizenship processing are expedited as well . They can apply for citizenship four years later (not five, as the five-year count for refugees starts on the day of arrival.""   The Contracting States shall as far as possible facilitate the assimilation and naturalization of refugees. They shall, in particular, make every effort to expedite naturalization proceedings and to reduce as far as possible the charges and costs of such proceedings."   Refugees are granted faster processing with fee waived by the law. they are granted green card and citizen so easily. they have superior faster privileges than people who are working hard to earn bachelor's/master/PHD degrees in the U.S., looking for jobs and H1B, spend tons of money and effort for EB2,EB1 approval... people who study hard, work hard, pay tax ,who make this country greater however dont get treated fairly.

image you are ling up for hours for the grand opening to buy iphone X. However, surprisely there are group of people cutting in the line and each of them  buy 2-3 devices. by the time its your turn finally, the product is sold out. the apple staff say, they are refugees with privileges. ..

this is a terrible feeling when happens to you in terms of immigration rule.  People dont complain if this applies to active duty military applicants as they sacrifice to protect this country and make American safer. they deserve the expedited privilege.

one of my friends files 1-2 month earlier than me through Minneapolis office,  and it was said 17months waiting.  Three months later, they moved down to Arizona after Christmas as my friend got a better-promoted offer in another employer.
their cases had been transferred to AZ office as well 2 weeks later. Now they are already on the scheduled interview in this May!  my friend joked, get out of Minnesota as fast as you can.  Its not because MN  has huge applications volume. it's just a ridiculous that Mpls  office is processing all applications from 3.5 states in the midwest.  the only case nation wide! why USCIS is doing in this way?  poor Minnesotans! not just the horrible long winter and snow storms!...totally agree!

marcusa got a reaction from Holt in What does ‘in line for interview’ really mean?
it's like you are luckily in the line for iphoneX purchase at Apple store. while lots ofpeople are blocked out of the line. however, does itmean you will be able to get the phone today?  maybe not,as its depends on the stock on the shelf. it may be out of stock when you are served.

so, there is no straight. asnwer tothe question you asked. you will only have a rough idea and the average processing time, which is known to everyone.

or why the government just provides us with two certificates, one used for passport application and dont ask for sending it back to avoid the lost and damages. The other one is for your record. but the government doesn;t think in the same way.All they care about is saving the cost. They increase the application fee frequently but the service quality is the same. If you want a 2nd copy of your certificate, sorry , you have to pay hundrends $.more. for the extra.
