  1. And I don't actually remember my civics questions other than there were six and I got them all right, just that I provided ID, was sworn in.  I was pretty anxious at the time but I did get a comment that "these are too easy for you".

After civics we did the linguistic exam. All easy as a native English speaker.

Then we had a review of the paperwork I brought, he didn't copy anything just checked it.

We then reviewed the Yes/No questions.

I answered yes on two so he took a little information (the paramilitary one, I said in my application I didn't think having been a civilian instructor for the equivalent to JROTC in the UK counted, but as I was a civilian in uniform doing military style training, the relevant statute might apply. The UK equivalent to the JROTC is the "Army Cadet Force", it's a civilian youth organization (with some support from the Army), it focuses on personal development for young people through a uniformed setting. Also similar to the Boy Scouts or Young Marines in the US.

I declared this on my application out of an abundance of caution, and the yes answer to weapons training for the same reason. The officer just asked a few questions and didn't seem concerned with it.

We then went over if I was willing to sign the citizenship oath, showed me how my details would be formatted on my certificate and had me check and sign... And then handed me the interview form with recommended for approval checked. He shook my hand and congratulated me on the way out.

  2. Had my interview earlier. Everything went well. Recommend for approval :)

No oath date yet. I was the last interview of the day (the waiting room was empty and dark when I left!). I got the in line for oath scheduling as well as the quality review note at the same time. He said I should get my oath ceremony letter pretty quickly.

  3. Good Morning all.

    Lincoln filer from October 2019.

    Filed Removal of Conditions 10/28/2019

    NOA/Extension 11/01/2019

    Fingerprints 02/07/2020

    Approval online this morning 10/05/2020

It said it was approved October 2nd on the website, I guess maybe there's some delay built into the website since it didn't say approved until today. I track all the cases around mine, so I was getting a bit anxious that everyone near me was getting RFEs or approvals (one guy transferred to another Jurisdiction too) in the last couple of weeks but nothing for me! Good news came this morning when I refreshed at 2am!

  4. Good Morning

So I live in a state very prone to snow storms and my application support center is 400 miles away. I plan on leaving with plenty of time to my appointment (several hours more than required to get there if all goes to plan), but I cannot rule out getting stuck in a snowstorm in one of the towns en route.

I don't forsee it delaying me more than a few hours before I could get on the road, if a storm did roll in.

In the event the weather caused me to be a couple of hours late (but the same business day) would this be an issue?

The reason I hesitate to reschedule is that any possible rescheduled biometrics may too be effected by snow storms, weather really just is random up here.

You have to cross three high passes to get to the state capital and they're prone to short term closures for snow until mid spring... So a reschedule would just be rolling the dice again.

    Thanks for the advice.

I live in Montana too, never had any interview except for my N400

I'm envious! The USCIS office is a pretty long drive from where I am, so it was a little challenging making it to our AoS interview in the snow.

It can't be helped though, so we just use trips for fingerprints/interviews etc as a mini vacation to Helena, which makes it more fun.

I feel for you if you're that far away from your ASC office. The whole immigration process is a pain in the butt and that just makes it even worse.

Yeah, one of the joys of living in Montana is that it's a long way to the ASC (350 miles each way!) But it is what it is. If I hadn't gone through with the process this far I wouldn't have my beautiful wife and amazing baby so the short term inconvenience is well worth it.

California Service Center has a wait time of 7 months for biometrics.

USCIS doesn't need your finger prints until they actually pick up your case to process it. And since ROC takes at least a year for most people, there's no rush with the biometrics.

By the same token though, from your experience would you say having biometrics taken early is a promising sign for the removal of conditions at least being worked?

  8. I sent it the day before my window, it arrived the day after the window opened and my actual receipt date ended up being a couple of days later. I ended up panicking because people told me the postmark was what determined "filing date".

I did some research in the Code of Federal Regulations and it seems like posting date doesn't matter for this purpose, it is actual date of receipt. "The date of filing is not the date of mailing, but the actual receipt of receipt at the designated
filing location. 8 C.F.R. 103.2(a)(7)(i)." was from a USCIS Decision I found on the topic.

Now, that said, I had a massive anxiety it would be rejected because I mailed it early so why subject yourself to that? If I could do it again I would just mail it the day the window opened, or a couple of days later if you want to play it safe.

  9. Just thought I would update everyone. I created a my USCIS account so I don't have to paste in the tracking each time. @JessieABC you were correct about the number working today :)

    I-751 Mailed: 10/24/19

    Window opened: 10/25/19

I-751 Arrived at USCIS (Phoenix): 10/26/2019

Receipt by text and email (routed to Lincoln): 11/01/2019

    Receipt started working: 11/02/2019
