  1. Just came out of my interview and I'm dizzy happy to have been approved! My wife and I had a fairly long wait as there had been some sort of admin confusion moving over to the new USCIS building here in Montana (and we were forgotten about in the waiting room for two hours - they said they didn't have the file lined up so they assumed we had cancelled)

So after my wife finally snapped waiting and went up and asked someone about the wait, they got us into an interview in about ten minutes. They swore us in, asked a few relationship questions. Then they went through the forms asking a lot of the yes/no questions and checked all the answers I gave on the I-485. Finally they asked us a few more relationship history questions and about our house etc.

Then the officer said she was going to approve us but because of the admin delay she might not be able to put it in till tomorrow. The lady then gave us the form about the conditional permanent residency and took us out to take copies of bits and pieces of paper evidence.

We waited about two minutes while she took the evidence copies on the way out and then she said congratulations and sent us on our way!

All in all a great experience and a pretty thorough but not too hard for actually married couple who live together.

Couldn't be happier and now we are just waiting for the card which she said could be a week or so.

i think you are worrying over nothing here. just be glad you got an interview. many others have been waiting years to get to this stage. just prepare to arrive early like what others suggested.

I guess so, I was just a little freaked out that the USCIS Customer Service line hadn't heard of the other address but no worries now.

My biometrics appointment was in Revere, MA (20min north of Boston), and my AOS interview was in Lawrence, MA (40min north of Boston).

The address on my interview NOA was correct. Seeing as they're so close, it sounds like you've got the right idea of following the invitation you received and just be early!

    Good luck

Thanks. I was just confused because in Montana the ASC and Local Office are in the same address but my Interview Location is listed as another. I'll definitely be early, it's 4 hours from where I live so due to it being a morning appointment we're arriving the night before.

  4. Hello all! Hope everyone's new year is going well.

So I was reading over my interview notice and was surprised to find that the address listed is not the address of my local office, but it is an office within the same city.

Is this normal? And I take it I should assume my interview notice is correct?

I called the customer help line and they said they only had record of the office that I visited for my biometrics on their screen but if the interview notification says to go to the other location to plan to arrive early at the other location and then if it's incorrect drive to the other one (they're about eight minutes drive apart).

If anyone has encountered similar situations I'd love to hear about them.

That is pretty amazing! You guys are really lucky.

My husband received his EAD/AP card 96 days after NOA. We still haven't heard a word on our GC. We applied in July. We were told 10 months earliest to hear about an interview or waiver from our local office and Baltimore is taking a month to decide after the interview on approval after interview for just about everyone.

I'm sorry to hear you guys didn't get anything about an interview yet, a member of my wife's family actually adjusted through the Baltimore office a few years ago too but I'm not sure how quick it was. I'm guessing my application going quickly is just a case of me happening to live in a place with a relatively efficient local office and few applicants to adjust here in Montana.

  6. @Tom169 My medical form DS-3025 in the section 2. Summary for Immigrant Visa Applications is ticked in the box labelled "US vaccination requirements COMPLETE" (Requesting a blanket waiver), the medical is dated July 14th 2017.

I filed for AOS 60ish days after entering the US this summer in August so I'm well within a year at this point. My interview is in late January so the medical shouldn't have timed out.

  7. Hello there all

I just got my Adjustment of Status interview form (dated December 20th but no tracker update, go figure) as well as I-797s for the approval of my EAD and AP in the mail.  My NOA1 date was October 26th 2017 and I entered with a K1 visa.

I was reading the interview and it lists documentation I need to bring with me and it includes the I-693 "Unless already submitted", I did submit a copy of both pages of a DS-3025 marked complete with my AOS (which Knightsbridge provided for me), I'm curious if the Interview notice they send out is just generic and I don't need to do a Medical with a Civil Surgeon, or if I in fact do need to do so?

  8. I wasn't sure when I filled out mine, I'd been issued two before on a summer work & travel dealio working at a campground and am pretty sure it wasn't subject to the two year rule.

I didn't have any copies of the DS-2019 though which I think is the only way to check if the two year rule applied since it wasn't printed on my visas. On the form itself I said I hadn't been subject to the two year rule but in the event I had ticked the two year home requirement rule since I'd complied with it theoretically on both, I appended an explanation of this to the more information section and emailed copies of my old J1s with entry stamps.

I'm guessing when my petition is adjudicated I'll find out whether that was sufficient in my case. I was in a tricky spot though as the UK doesn't have an equivalent to the I-94 site I can readily access.

Worst comes to worst though and they require records at my interview or as an RFE I'm guessing I can supply affidavits from people in the UK and college/employment records.

it looks like there was only a week between your medical and your visa interview. Is that correct? If so, can I ask if you were able to reserve your interview slot before you did the medical

I called up and booked my medical and then booked my interview. I just happened to luck into having a free interview date just a week after my medical. At the medical they said it would take approximately 4 business days for my medical to reach the Embassy.

This said I was quite thoroughly prepared and armed with comprehensive GP letters and full information on all conditions and was sure my bloods would come back fine for STDs etc because I'd had the NHS test me the week before and been clear. If I had suspected I might need to go back to my GP for more info I'd want at least another week's leeway

  10. So this might be a bit British-specific and if so I apologise for that.

For a few years I was a Civilian Volunteer Instructor with the Army Cadet Force

The Army Cadet Force (as the link above explains) is very much not part of the UK Military and on speaking to my old boss there, it's not defined in the UK as a "Paramilitary" organisation either. Rather it's a Civilian Youth Organisation sponsored by the British Army that uses Military Uniforms and Training to encourage personal development in young people.

I get to this section and started filling it out and obviously said I had some Military type training (because as an Instructor you attend an "Adult Initial Training Course" which is run by active service British Army Instructors) in ticking yes to Q49 and put the detail of that in Part 14, Additional Details.

Should I do the same with Q55? Or tick No on the question and provide the extra detail (as the UK Government does not define it as a paramilitary or military organization)...

  11. So.. I was just looking at filling out my I-485, I got to the section where it asks me to fill out my given name on Page 3 of the I-485. Here it asks for my First and Middle names exactly as on the I-94, however there's no section for a middle name on my I-94.

In order to fill this out I pulled out my digital I-94. It lists my first and middle name as my given name.

    Last/Surname: (Surname)
    First (Given) Name: (Firstname) (Middlename)

Any suggestions as to how to fill this out correctly? Do I need the I-94 corrected? or just put the middle name in middle name box? or put first and middle names from I-94 in the given name box? (as this would be "exactly")

  12. I've recently arrived on a K1 visa with my I-94 expiring on November 15th. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to get a replacement for an old Social Security Card?

I got my previous SSC when I was working on a Q-1 visa in 2008, but at some point in the last decade I lost it back in the UK. I've got the number courtesy of my old tax accountant.

What documentation would I need to take to the local office to get a replacement? Would I have to go in personally or like most replacements would I be able to mail documents?

  13. The DS160 you can complete when you've got official notification of your LND case number and you track it on CEAC and it shows a status of "Ready". The DS160 is the official visa application form for the K1 Visa (and is used for a lot of other visa categories too, but I digress), the I-129F was the petition being ruled on and an approved I-129F is the basis for which you then apply for the K1 visa
