I called NVC again today. The rep just said "we have your case since March 12th. We're working on creating you a case #. Anything else, ma'am?". I'm just anxious to give them my and my fiance's email address, cause I'm not sure they have it. I should be patient, but I'm thinking about calling again later on tonight hahaha

“Instead of being ugly about it”, how is talking about what is a more likely reality ugly? Weird, hostile choice of words.
 
Talking about a more likely reality is no different than the daily updates posted in the month folders where Naes says she thinks they’ll start X date this week as an educated guess. When one calls and the operator reads the script that they’re only working on a date that’s listed on USCIS it’s a lie. This forum exists to me, not only for information, but also for people to cope over the process they are in the dark with. Let people use it as they wish. 

There's definitely something weird going on at NVC. I'm at my wits end trying to find out just what the truth is with my case... 
 
I called just now (option 7) and was told that they do have my case and they received it on 21st February. They then said it can take up to 8 weeks to provide a case number. I said to the staff member that it was weird, as I've been told for the past two weeks that they don't have it at all. She couldn't tell me anything, so I hung up. So I tried again, this time with option 5. The same response:  they received our case on 21st February, but it can take up to 8 weeks to provide a case number. I told the lady I'm so confused as to what's going on, as I've been told for two weeks they don't have it, USCIS said NVC had sent it back, we got a second NOA2 from USCIS triggered from something... And now it turns out it was there at NVC all along? She sympathised, but all she could tell me is that they're now taking up to 8 weeks to process case numbers due to the large volume of cases right now. I wonder if the bad weather issues have anything to do with this, or it's another screw up somewhere along the line (as it was during December/January when cases were taking up to two months to reach NVC).

Something funky's happened to our case as something must've delayed processing in order for USCIS to tell us they needed to provide additional paperwork, which then triggered the second NOA2. It's incredibly frustrating to not have anyone explain exactly what's happened. I can only presume NVC were telling me they didn't have the case yet as they were still waiting on this additional paperwork from USCIS. What's more annoying is that had USCIS provided what they should've done in the first place a month ago, we now wouldn't be stuck in this weird "8 week window" problem... 

Good luck to everyone else who's now going to met with this next roadblock. It was looking so good there for a while!   Seven months from NOA1 and my fiancee and I are still no further along. It was a month yesterday since NOA2 and I'd hoped to have my medical and interview booked by now. It's demoralising to get so far, and keep taking more steps back... I long for the day I don't need to think about this anymore. 

Just called NVC and they received our case today!  NOA2 was 2/24/18.

I am not familiar with packet's 1 and 2 but packet 3 is what normally is referred to as the "Embassy Letter" which contains all the document requirements and next steps after you have received your case number. Your embassy either mails it to the beneficiary or they will email it to them. Packet 4 is the notification that your ready to schedule your interview appointment which is normally used for the 1CR visa (married visa) not for K-1 (fiancée visa). Each Embassy works differently so advise if you can go to your VJ sub-forum and someone there can share the letter with you ahead of time. Sometimes you will find it on your Embassy website. You might want to visit your Embassy website for "what's next" answers.

I just called nvc twice. First time I hit option 7 and a very polite lady told me that my case was already in their newer system and that I should hang up and call again and hit option 5. I thought I would receive my case # already but then I called and hit option 5, another lady said they had not assigned a case # for me and it could take up to 2 weeks. I asked her if I could give her mine or my fiance's email address and she said not yet because she didn't have access, cause I didn't have a case #....well, I'm happy it is finally there. I hope it won't take long for them to assign a case number and send it to the consulate.

It'll happen. I know that wait feels like forever, and it totally does suck. My heart is with you guys.

I juat called and got the 8 weeks response too... do you guys think it will really take that long? Or its just what they are saying to cover for the rare cases that do actually take longer than 2 weeks?

I'm into the NVC menu guy's accent. It has a unique American sound to it, yet I so rarely hear it where I live haha

When I called USCIS and Tier I wasn't helpful, I asked if I could speak with a Tier II and then I was forwarded. If you request to speak with a Tier II, I think it's a valid reason they won't deny
