  1. I filed I751 March 2021, and then my N-400 January 2022 and had my interview today. I got a phone call yesterday afternoon advising to bring my spouse to the N-400 interview, they would be combining my I-751 and N-400 interviews. I passed the interview and the immigration officer stated they will first clear my I-751 today and then approved my N-400 tomorrow after the I-751 has cleared from the system. The phone call yesterday was a slight curve ball, luckily my wife is self employed and could make the interview. I know this thread relates to I-751, but just a heads up if any of you have filed an N-400. I’m just glad it’s over, I’m so tired of visiting the DMV to renew my license. All the best to you all.

  2. My wife (sponsor) is self employed and after deductions earns circa $20,000.00pa, taking advantage of taxable deductions. To make matters more difficult, she joined me aboard for the last year so we've had to put her current earnings as $0 pa. We filled out our I864 and added in both our assets which comes to well over the three times the poverty figure.

We have documentarily qualified (case completed) and await an interview date, in addition we received a note advising us it is precautionary/advisable to obtain a co-sponsor as my wife's income is below the requirement, however the decision is ultimately at the discretion of the CO on the day. They consider your whole file in determining the likelihood of you becoming a public charge, I will take a completed co-sponsor form and evidence on the interview day just as a back up. My wife has headed back to the States early to return to work ensuring we can show an income (albeit bank statements of deposits and outgoing) on the interview day.

It may be worth considering using any assets you have in addition to the income.

I plan to call this evening too. CC on 2/14 and nothing yet. Usually, Costa Rica schedules quickly. Looking at the spreadsheet linked on the first page, there is only 1 person who was scheduled after a 2/8 CC.

It's a shame most people give up on filling out their profiles by this point. There's a really small data set to try to interpret.

Our CC was 02/15 with interview at the Cyprus Embassy which deals with barely any immigrant visas and is usually really fast. We’ve received nothing yet, I suspect the delay is at the NVC so you’re not the only one. I intend to call the Embassy this afternoon to see if they’ve responded to the NVC with proposed interview dates, I know I’ll just get the standard “it can take up to 90 days” if I call the NVC

No RFE, however my wife's income for 2018 was list $0 (she's been overseas with me), our assets more than make up for this, however we got the standard notice that it's at the consular discretion. Good Luck to all waiting.

I checked CEAC messages this morning to find out, I suspect an email will come through this afternoon.

We doubled up, so left an email logged with the NVC requesting a change and then emailed the Embassy on the generic email address. Cyprus is small so maybe we have a helpful Embassy but I suspect they immediately chased it up at the NVC

Once resolved you end up getting an email from the NVC with a new case number. (I’m assuming you’re electronic processing)

Sorry also forgot to mention, as suhridkhan has already said, continue with your application I.e paying fees, complete DS260 and uploading/submitting AOS and civil documents. It all gets transferred over to the new case number.

That’s the most helpful answer I’ve had! Thank you. I contacted NVC via the website ask forum and they haven’t gotten back to me. If I call the embassy that I want my interview at do you think I need to contact NVC again or it will just update in their system?

  8. We had the same problem. I am British but living in Cyprus. We selected Cyprus Embassy but in error the NVC allocated London Embassy. We called a bunch of times and emailed the NVC, we got extremely vague answers with no timescales. Instead we contacted the Cyprus Embassy and provided our incorrect case number, names and D.o.B etc. They then contacted the NVC on our behalf and we were allocated a new case number and Embassy within a day.  I would recommend contacting the Embassy you wish to be allocated and asking them to contact the NVC requesting the change.

    Good Luck.

  9. We paid our fees Friday 25th, they cleared this morning Wed 30th.

Sadly, an NVC processing error will slow down our case. We nominated Nicosia, Cyprus as our processing Embassy as I currently work abroad for the U.K. Government. However it seems the processing officer assumed I was in the U.K. (even though the I130 clearly nominates Nicosia) and assigned the London Embassy Case Number. We filed a formal request on the Friday 25th  via email for the NVC to amend the error made and provide us with a new case number for Nicosia, Cyprus.

I phoned the NVC this morning and the phone handler stated he was unable to provide a timescale to resolve this error. So we’re in limbo as I can’t request certain police certificates without an accurate case number. Does anybody have any other methods/ideas I can use to try and resolve this error?

    Its quite frustrating.

  10. The NVC received our case on the 3rd Dec 18, we are coming up on 8 weeks waiting on Monday. I phoned the NVC today, choosing option 2 and asked for my case number. I got through after hour and the operator said your case is being electronically processed and she was unable to provide a case number. She stated I need to chose option 5 and she transferred my call, after waiting in another phone queue, I got through to operator who said I would receive a welcome pack by either post or email but he did not provide a case number. Has anyone struggled in obtaining their case number?

  11. Thanks for posting this info, I am a British citizen living in Cyprus. Our case is with the NVC and we will be submitting documents soon. I have a Cyprus Police certificate issued last month (Oct 18) although I suspect we will be submitting the documents in January though. It is bizarre as nowhere on the NVC website, Cyprus Police website or the certificate itself does it state the document has a two months validity. Anyway to be on the safe side, I will order a new certificate in the coming to weeks. Thanks again for this post.

  12. My wife is the U.S Citizen and I am British, our I-130 is currently being process. We had previously applied for an I-129 but withdrew the application as my wife wished to join me in Cyprus for my last year so the i-130 was the more appropriate route. (currently working here for one year).

I travelled to the U.S approx five times last year whilst the I-129 was being processed and then when we got married in Oct 17 in North Carolina. I had a few questions the first time I visited but no problems any other time. However, I was prepared I had my employment contact, letter from my employer stating I was required to return to work,  copies of my property lease and car insurance e.t.c. In short lots of evidence showing I was going to leave the U.S.

As long as you can show you have every intention of returning to the UK, you should have no problems.  Have a good trip.
