Hey Everyone! I remember there was someone here who did not apply for naturalization and is patiently waiting for the greencard like me so this information could be useful -  I received the 24 months extensions letter on Monday dated end of October. So it looks they are sending those out.

I did not have time to apply for naturalization yet and am still waiting for my bios appointment to be rescheduled. Hope my permanent greencard process will keep moving since they touched my case to check and send that letter.

Thank you for this! I have not applied for naturalization (was never part of my plan) and I’m still waiting on an extension letter. I hope it arrives soon. My old extension expires in little over a month!!

Your case is "sitting on the shelf" of the processing center (eg. MSC) until your local office requests your file (it is valid for both I-751 and N-400). They are supposed to process them as a combo (but sometimes they don't as they weren't bothered with digging enough to notice that you have 2 cases, but I digress).

Timelines for processing  N-400 are published and broke down to local offices level (don't know why they don't want to provide this info for I-751). But it all comes down to your local office requesting your file...

interesting. So for N-400 at my local office it says 5.5-13 months. Well it’s already been 17months since I-751. So, if I have both sitting it’s just whichever comes up first?

Check your local office N-400 processing times. Your I-751 will be "attached to" N-400 and that's your expected timeline for processing both. There is no "fast lane" for processing both applications together (despite declarations that it should be) as with this backlog, they simply do not bother with it...

so if I apply for the N400 does my case get transferred to another office? A local office? Or does it stay at the place I was assigned to for the I-751

My extension is up a month on Friday. Driving me insane. Every time I look at the processing times, doesn’t seem to be shifting much. I even put in my N400 and everything is silent. Some people on the N400 group have got their citizenship. The waiting is literally the worst part.  🤷🏽‍♀️

Urgh I feel you. I haven’t put in the N400 because honestly I wasn’t sure I wanted to do that. But, I started it last weekend after seeing some people getting their citizenship way faster than their 10 year. So now I’m applying just because. So stupid. It’s a really a joke that we have to live like this. I know there’s an insane backlog, but surely they can push forward with those really straight forward cases to clear some of the backlog.

    From USCIS website:

    Release Date
    09/03/2021

Starting Sept. 4, 2021, USCIS is extending the time that receipt notices can be used to show evidence of status from 18 months to 24 months for petitioners who properly file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, or Form I-829, Petition by Investor to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status. We are making the change from 18 to 24 months to accommodate current processing times for Form I-751 and Form I-829, which have increased over the past year.

Conditional permanent residents who properly file Form I-751 or Form I-829 will receive a receipt notice that can be presented with their Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card (also known as a Green Card), as evidence of continued status for up to 24 months past the expiration date on their Green Card, while their case remains pending with USCIS.

Additionally, we will issue new receipt notices to eligible conditional permanent residents who properly filed their Form I-751 or Form I-829 before Sept. 4 and whose cases are still pending. Those receipt notices will also serve as evidence of continued status for 24 months past the expiration date on their Green Card.

As a reminder, conditional permanent residents who plan to be outside of the United States for a year or more should apply for a reentry permit by filing Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, before leaving the country. For more information on International Travel as a Permanent Resident, see our Green Card page.

Will we be getting a new extension letter if we filed in April/June 2020?

It looks like it. I sure hope so. I actually just came on here to find out wth was going on since my extension expires in a couple months and I haven’t heard a thing in over a year. *sigh*. New DL for 6 extra months I guess *eye roll*

my wife's k1 visa green card and everything was labeled as far as whose bias they were just showing we went through the process I'm petitioning bfor my k2 children

Your posts are a little confusing

    Are you the US citizen?
    What/Who are you applying for?

Your timeline says you have adjusted status already. Are you trying to remove conditions on your wife's GC? Or are you trying to adjust your childrens status?

  7. During my K1 process I got an RFE to translate my Birth certificate from English to English. I am English! I rolled with it and did exactly as they asked.

I would follow everyone's advice and submit primary evidence. Passport stamps and boarding passes. IMO the stamps you posted are legible. BUT I would still annotate all passport scans that you send with a short explanation of what exactly is being shown. Clarity is key. Don't leave any room for misinterpretation. If you want an easy immigration process, do whatever they ask.

Here is Oregon they only give my husband a 1 year drivers license with the restricted green card. In August it will be the 3rd time he has to get his drivers license. We are a little nervous because they always ask for his green card before proceeding, any idea on what we do when his green card is expired, we haven't got a receipt notice or a new green card and there is a chance that we haven't been able to make and appointment to get the stamp he needs??? He needs his drivers license for work.

All so frustrating how many hoops we have to jump through

    Kathy and Dane

This was my issue too. My DL expires in July and I needed that NOA action to get a new one. I got my NOA resent and now i'm good so I hope that they resend yours soon. One piece of advice I do have: Check to see if your state extended DL expiry's because of COVID-19. NC extended all DL expiry's by 5 months so I actually have until December to renew. One good thing that came from this.

Congratulations!!! Yes we used the online form too. My question was how did they let you know it was sent out again. Did they send you an email to let you know it was sent out again?

Im glad they expedite military. It’s the least they can do for you. Thank you for your family service especially on this weekend.

Yea they sent an email the next day saying they had resent the NOA
    Thank you!

  10. My NOA arrived!!!!

Great! How did they tell you about remaining your NOA? Through email? We sent an email to the lockbox but never heard back from them.

I used the online form I posted in a link on here. Look back a few pages. They mailed it the next day. But we are military and I don’t know if that helped because other people haven’t had the same luck.

Fingers crossed that this is the letter you're waiting for!  Today is officially 30 days, so I'll have to email support to get ours.

I would email lockbox support and also use the link I posted in here for non-delivery. I only used the non-delivery notice and that was enough to get it resent. Some people have had to do both

congrats! im so happy for you!

our package was just delivered to them yesterday. so I guess we still have to wait for a few days to find out if they have accepted or not.

If your package was just delivered you may want to join the May filers. This is April filers. The info on here won't help you much if you filed a whole month later

Received email back from USCIS with regards to NOA/18 month extension letter. They said to email Lockboxsupport with receipt number and address and they will send a duplicate copy. *sending 4th email*  🙄

That's so strange. They just told me they would resend mine. I never emailed lockbox support at all. What did the response look like? Mine was very much automated. 'USCIS will re-mail a receipt notice, please allow 15 days'

I just spoke to customer service and she had no idea what extension letter we are talking about. She claims there is an automatic extension attached to your case from the day you file. She said there is nothing you can do but inquire and wait for them to respond. I guess I just have to wait... congrats on getting a response and I hope you do get it in 15 days!!
what did you write in last action on case?

They tend to not know what anything is. The majority of the service reps are clueless unfortunately. I put fingerprints were applied to my case. And then said that I didn't receive NOA with 18month extension.
