I was able to add my husband as soon as we got married and my insurance retro his coverage starting the date of our marriage which was July 22nd. He was added on July 25th. Since it is a life event, most employers allow you to add your spouse and child as soon as the life event takes effect. All I had to do was submit a copy of our marriage license and that's it. His insurance cards came in the mail on Monday.

Our problem is that I dont have insurance until Sept either... we were living together in Colombia so I just got back the the US too. It's been rough getting reestablished even for me haha...I feel like an immigrant too! I think I'll feel more comfortable waiting until Sept...but his I-94 expires on sept 11th, although that doesn't matter, right?

    Hi everyone!

Today, I received an official interview notice for I-485 which is scheduled for Aug 22nd. It has all the generic stuff in it except one part...

There was a second sheet and on it is says attachment and below it says that submitted I-693 is either expired or my file does not contain a valid I-693 form. I am very confused... I submitted I-693 at the time of filing which was way less than 1 year ago. Also, the USCIS did not send me the courtesy letter about I-693 that most people get when they do not submit medical form at the time of filing. Has anyone experienced the same issue? If so, how did you resolve it? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Attached is the screenshot of this attachment section.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi all Jan filers! Hope things are moving/concluding smoothly for you. I am about to send our AOS packet and thinking of not sending I-693, OR just waiting until I have insurance and can affordably do the medical exam over completely. I will lose a month, but I'm afraid of THIS ^ happening. Any opinions on the matter?

    Mil gracias ❤️

  3. Hello everyone! Technically I'm not an August filer yet...hoping to be! But I have a HUGE doubt maybe some of you could help me out with.

I asked this question in a different thread and got a few answers, but the others who chimed in told me to double and triple check, so I will.

My husband does not have a complete ds-3025 and needs a vaccine to have those records up to date, but the civil surgeons in my area insist on doing the complete medical (even though it's not necesarry). We won't have insurance until Sept so getting the extra tests will be a fortune. In the other thread I was advised to send the AOS packet without I-693 to begin the process and will receive a reminder with NOA 1 to bring updated records to the interview. Anyone know anything about this?

    Any responses are appreciated! Thanks!

  4. I apologize if this has already been hashed out on VJ, but I haven't found the answers I'm looking for. 😲

I know every case is different but my husband has K1 visa status and as we were preparing the AOS paperwork I got caught up in a sh**storm of doubt and confusion. In Colombia, my husband got the full medical exam needed to get his visa and enter the US. Unfortunately, the doctor did not update his vaccines, nor asked him if he wanted to. Us never having done this before didn't think anything of it. UNTIL NOW. I know my husband needs boosters of some vaccines but we won't have insurance until September 1st. His I-94 is valid until Sept 11th. We are already married, which is what those 90 days are for, and I've read that while it is not IDEAL to apply for AOS later than 90 days, it's not necessary to do it by then. Now, if we want to get his vaccines updated, we HAVE TO get blood work and urine samples done (I have argued with multiple civil surgeons and no one will give him an injection without these things being done...money grab?). Our biggest priority right now is getting the EAD for my husband sooner than later. From what I have read, the EAD and AOS processes are not directly related. Even if our AOS process is delayed by an RFE for vaccines, it won't affect EAD (correct?). We can wait for the green card, but I don't want him going crazy cooped up in a house all winter. Not to mention we could really use the second income. So here are my options as I see it:

    1. Spend nearly $1000 to get blood and urine tests and updated vaccs without insurance to send AOS and EAD next week.

    2. Wait until Sept 1st when insurance coverage begins to get tests and vaccs, so we can send AOS and EAD *hopefully* by Sept 11th or shortly after.

    3. Send AOS and EAD documents knowing that we will get an RFE for vaccines in the future, but *hopefully* receive the EAD sooner than later.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if anyone has any insight, let me know!!! I'm so afraid to make a mistake that could cost us this whole process. Maybe that is a bit dramatic, but maybe not. Send your suggestions, tips, previous mistakes my way!

    Blessings to all ❤️

    I can be wrong here since I personally didn't use a co-sponsor-
But it doesn't seem to make sense to me to have supporting documents if you are using a joint sponsor.
Because you can only have ONE joint sponsor and THEIR income must support all their dependents, including your fiance. It only makes sense to only need the documents from that sponsor, since we're saying they are the ones responsible for the fiance financially (at least until AOS).

But nothing about this process makes sense ;)
So I will suggest that if someone with a co-sponsor doesn't get back to you with their experience, it might just be safer to have your supporting documents as well, if they are easy for you to gather.

Thank you! You're right,  nothing about this process seems to make much sense. I guess itake always better safe than sorry.

Anyone with a co-sponsor want to help a girl out?

  6. Hey everyone, hope you are all receiving the wonderful updates you've been waiting so patiently for.

We have our Embassy interview in 2 weeks! I just wanted to double check here in case anyone has any experience with cosponsors... how important are the supporting documents for MY i-134 if I don't meet the guidelines?  My dad is sponsoring my fiancé and he has sent me supporting docs. I also have to submit the i-134 right? What about all of the other evidence?

    Thanks for any insight!

  7. Congrats to everyone on here! Looks like the approvals keep rolling in pretty consistently!

I am sure this question has been answered before, so I'm sorry to be redundant but this site has been a bit squirrely for me and I'm having trouble locating the information I'm looking for. We need to fill out the I-134 Affidavit of Support for our fiances...I know they have to bring this form as well as supporting evidence to the embassy interview, but do we also have to file the form with USCIS??

I thought I was clear on this, but I panic and doubt what the correct process is. When I look on the USCIS website I can't find a definitive answer. Is it good enough to just bring the affidavit of support to the interview?

    Mil gracias!

My questions are about the things highlighted green.

    1. I read somewhere that the doctor needs to see a carnet de vacunas. My fiance has one from when he waslike, 5 years old. Will it matter if it's old?
    2. We sent the doc our Embassy interview date (April 26) and they scheduled the other appointments (lab april23 and doc april 24). What I don't understand is that if it says the gonorrea test takes 48 hours to show results, why is it scheduled one day before the medical exam? Not just for us either....apparently that's the norm.

I appreciate any insight!!! We are SO excited and SO nervous to have everything perfect...we don't want any surprises

Mil gracias y dios lo bendiga!

    Hi everyone...

I’ve been a long time lurker, but I really needed some sort of support and reassurance so now I’m posting. Our NOA1 was August 7th and we received a RFE in the mail today February 17th. Obviously I’m heartbroken and upset and angry. We hired a lawyer to make sure we wouldn’t get to this...

Anyway, has anyone had experience with an RFE? Does this push us back to the end of the line again? What happens after this.. unfortunately it’s a weekend and Monday is Presidents’ Day so my hands are tied until Tuesday...

Thanks in advance and I don’t mean to sound needy o know there’s those before and after me who haven’t received news yet. But congrats to those who have.

Sorry to hear that, after paying a lawyer and everything. It will be okay. What did you get an rfe for?

  10. Congrats to everyone finally getting approvals! Good things are happening! 😍🎉

How about RFEs? Has anyone gotten one? If so, what for? Anything that surprised you?

I personally am worried about my places of residence over the past 5 years. Lots of changes, lots of traveling, living abroad etc. Some places semi-permanent, others that I didn't list because I never even knew the address. In the gaps I always listed my parents address, which has always been my mailing address (more reliable). Anybody have the same issue?

Im an October filer but my fiancé is from Colombia! We met in Medellin.. So I automatically gravitate towards my fellow Colombia filers... I've been stressing about a similar situation.. except that due to certain work restrictions (punishment) over the last year I have not been able to travel internationally. As you mentioned, it is difficult and costly to get a travel visa from CO to US so my fiancé is stuck there while I'm stuck here.... So not to mention the fact I haven't physically seen him in a year, I am worried that the CO at the embassy won't understand or believe my situation and think that because I haven't visited him in a year our relationship must not be real... considering you live together, I don't think it will be difficult to prove a "bonafide relationship". I don't think they care who goes where as long as you see each other and/or can prove a real/ongoing relationship. Best of luck to you! I wouldn't stress... I'll be following your journey :)

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about this punishment of yours. It's very difficult being away from each other for so long. Do you have any paperwork outlining the punishment from your work? I think that would really help. And I think as long as you can prove that you have met within the last two years you should be okay (right visa journey gurus?).

Wishing you the best of luck! Hopefully I will have some good news for you soon and some tips for the interview! 👍

  12. Maybe a silly question, but I'm reading about how many of you go here and there to visit your fiancés in the USA. My fiancé has never been to the states because it's expensive and difficult to get a tourist visa for Colombians and since we live together in Medellín there hasn't been reason to try to obtain one.

Does it look suspicious if the beneficiary has never even tried to visit? Maybe those of you who have came and went have established some trust?

I'm going crazy...thinking always worst case scenario. I know that's not good!

Get w2s and other things you have.

    are you still abroad?

And if you are abroad are you sure they will accept your i-134 without a co-sponsor?

I can't believe I haven't seen this yet! I've been getting so many updates it must have slipped by. I am still abroad and will be until POE. I will be having my parents co-sponsor us since my salary in colombian pesos doesn't cut it in USD. My only concern is that if our interview is in may and I don't have tax returns for 2017 there will be a problem.

It's stated clearly on the IRS website that citizens working abroad have until June 15th to file. Just hope the interviewers at the embassy in Bogota know that...

    Thanks for your response!

  14. Good morning august filers. I live and work in Colombia and have paid taxes the past couple years on my earning here. Citizens living abroad get an automatic 2 month extension to file taxes (that's June 15th). It's kids of a Hassel to file from abroad so I usually do it when I visit my family in the states. Could I run into problems if my interview is in April or may and I don't yet have my 2017 return?

Oh wait.  That’s what this is.  And they started it for free to earn the feeling of helping people which is better than money.  Because I’m grateful for that, I will come up with another business idea and leave that alone.  This is priceless.  💕

The guy is like one of those ads that pops up one your phone and tells you your phone is infected with 6 viruses and will crash imminently unless you buy their phone virus busting app.  It think it’s called scare-Ware.  Well, he wants to scare people enough that they want to cover their bases and get his help.  I think most of these services do.  I used Rapid Visa.  I don’t regret it, though.  I tend to over-worry.  But they just said they edit your package and send it.  He is inflating rejection numbers and making it sound like none of us will see our fiancés come here without a big fight.  Don’t worry.  I believe we still have the right to marry whom we choose.  It just might take a bit longer.  I bet a lot of us could get together and start one of these companies, but be kind and helpful and make more.

Thanks to those of you who have reassured me everything will be okay! The fear tactic works on me! Still, I don't think I'd EVER trust this guy over this site. Good luck to all you positive people out there 💜
