When we reach tier 2 we have been treated like children and told to wait. As beneficiary I can't call but I gave my fiancé a list of questions regarding an update, if an agent was assigned, name checks etc and were just told (by the t2) that they can't tell us any info and to call back when it falls outside of 6 months (which will be Oct 12)
Im so scared that I won't be there for Christmas. I know everyone says it speeds up, but I'm away from home for a bit at the end of the month and I'm very concerned.
I'm hoping we just weren't updated. That's all that's keeping me going but this wait is... Crazy. Especially seeing people a month after our application getting approved...
As the beneficiary YOU CAN CALL!
So run to grab your cellphone and call away, Demand speaking with a Tier 2 even if what the Tier 1 says is completly reasonable, be nice,, and say "well I stll demand talking to a Tier 2"
Go go go!

Hi guys! I just have a question about filling up ds-160. Is there any guidelines about how do I get there? Is there a site I should go to? Or do I just download the form online? I'm just confused cuz I've seen ppl asking about non-immigrant or immigrant visa categories and that issue about ds-160 and ds-260? Help! Thanks thanks!
Noa1: April 11, 2017
Noa2: September 5, 2017
NVC: October 5, 2017
Current visa status: still at NVC
Consulate country: Philippines
The DS160 is an online application, it will consist in like 6 parts (if I remember correctly)
They will ask about you
Personal information passport number, visa
Family
Have you been to the USA before, how many times, mention the last 5 times with approximate dates
what kind of visa are you applying for, your studies and occupancy.
and the usual questions, do you belong to any kind of bad organization, stuff like that.
Make sure to click save before you move into the next page, just to be sure, Ive done it before without saving it just to reach the last page and get an error and had to start all over.
Good luck!

Don't you have the K1 visa packet? Here you can find the PDF, which the list of documents to take to the interview.
Yes I have it, and thats why my question I wanted to know if this form, had to be sent somewhere and then received some special document based on that form. Since its a form where you are telling the government how much money you make I thought maybe someone needed to verify if you were telling the truth

Hi everyone,
Please can someone explain to me the famous Affidavit of support
Do we need to fill out this form and send it digitally somewhere and expect some sort of document? if this is the case how long does this take? or just print it, fill it and take it to our interview?

Hey, has anyone else had any issues with the DS160? It keeps telling me session timeout (I'm not leaving it unattended at all). I found that if you click on the side tabs it works but when I just click next it says session timeout... but the trouble I'm having now is I cant click on the side tab after 'Do you have children' to the next for 'work and education'. I've triple checked and not missed any boxes. As anyone else had the same issues?
Try another web browser chrome or even internet explorer

I've got a question. We got approved a couple weeks ago and received an email with the NVC number. In the e-mail, it says to complete DS-160 form (a non-immigrant visa). However, when checking out the type of visas they have. it says K visa is an immigrant visa. Could someone please help me understand why this is the case? Thanks!!
I got so confused too a couple of weeks ago,
I did the DS160 and then in the instruction somewhere I read the same thing as you and started freaking out thinking I filled out the wrong format.
I came here and asked and got many replies saying DS160 indeed is the correct one, and sure was, I managed to even book my interview a day after this happened...
Still Im clueless why this whole process is so confusing and still dont get why sometimes K1 visa is listed as non immigrant and others as immigrant

Question for everyone!!!
In your case how the beneficiary is gonna deal with the moving of all his/her belongings?
Flight and paying extra luggage?
Sending things via Snail Mail?
How??? This are the kinda questions I worry about

Someone knows where I can find the requirements for the pictures needed in the Checklist for the Visa interview?
I went to my local photography center and I asked for "passport" photos, but I dont know if they are correct, they are 4.5cms x 3.5cms HXW

Oh no
I'm flying to NY on Friday and I'm really hoping I'll be fine. I'm only going from Friday to Monday.
Take with you a copy of your NOA1 and NOA2,
if you can documents that will prove that you have to come back, I was ready with a letter of my employer.
Do not mention anything unless is questioned to you, and always answer with the true.
Thats my best advice

I had travelling to US is ok meanwhile the K1 procedure (I had done it to visit my fiance and also for business trips)... However, I think I had read that travelling after the NVC stage, I mean between NVC and Visa interview is not recommended. Anyone which recall this or had experience with this?
Planning to go the thanksgiving week...
I did many travels to the USA even with the NOA2 already approved
but I wont risk it, Im here waiting for my interview to happen Nov16th and not going to enter the USA until POE....

@MeliiGo FYI
Kudos to that Senator! That embassy seems to have a lot of delays or a lack of priority for K1's. Glad it is full steam ahead
Wow! thats amazing, but I think that this happened because of the embassy trying to move the case even further back right @Amy Carol Wolff ???
I wouldnt like pissing up the consulate and we already got the airplane tickets so I think we will wait, better safe than sorry

Industrial Engineer will translate over just fine. The US has plenty of manufacturing and several US Universities offer it as a major.
I think my fiance was looking into what charities/non-profits are in town and find one to go work at a couple times a week as a volunteer. Allows her to get out of the house and meet some people in town, might help her when she can work.Thats the thing, my major is Quality and more Administrative focused.
when I say Industrial engineer everyone things about production lines and manufacturing, but in reality Ive been doing schedules for constructions, budget control for a green power company.
So I dunno, maybe have a second option in case the Engineer thing doesnt work for me

Pretty understandable! I don't think any of us are happy with the fact we have to have our lives put on hold... once again
We can always hope they pick up the pace, but given the experience with NOA2, better to prepare for the longest wait and hope for a shorter one
I think Im gonna do something useful in this time, like maybe study for a "job" thats gonna be helpful for when Im allowed to really work. Im an Industrial Engineer, but I think my job wont translate well and I wont get a job being that. So maybe I will study to be a hairdresser. I dunno this is me just imagining right now. At this point who knows?

For what I've seen lately EAD and AP are taking longer now, around 5 months (kind of a similar thing to what has been happening to NOA2), while I'm not completely sure about AOS, but it seems to be around 9-10 months minimum right now
Will you create another thread for when you start your AOS? because if that's the case I TOTALLY want to be in it! PLEASE!

You are not allowed to travel outside the country until your AP is approved as a part of the AOS. You can't really work until the AOS is completed either. I think the average was 3-4 months, but this used to only be 3-4 months as well so I have no real good idea. We are planning to have the same lawyer we had do this application help with the Green Card and other papers.
Hopefully you haven't visited too many places in the US before and can take some time to wander.
In the mean time you of course are able to get your drivers license and all your other paperwork done.Is the AP a one time only use? or its like a "passport" to go in an out as long as it isnt expired?

@Estibaliz Ohhh wow! thats the most handsome cat Ive seen and thats a lot to say for a dog person.

@S*UK Yay! But sure that took long
@sunj Congratulations! Finally!
@amishbaby First things first... Congratulations! So happy you two can be together soon (specially after what you told us about his experience with his family after the medical
).
As someone that has received today her Visa package, I can confirm those two emails are the standard for them mailing you back your passport plus documents. You can open the first envelope, that's for sure.
Actually mine was a postal plastic envelope. Inside there was another brown paper envelope that I had to open to. Inside this one was my passport with the visa printed in one of the middle pages, plus another brown envelope, heavy sealed with all the do not open and informative labels (stating you can't open the envelope, that it contains your Visa documents and it has to be handed to the Immigrant Officer at your POE).
So definitely open that envelope and find your real golden ticket inside. Just do it carefully, but without fear. The envelope will be clearly marked.
You can do the POE aywhere you like? or in the city you plan to stay living?

Glad I can help. I would seriously look into Chase, Citibank, CapitalOne, HSBC, or Ally Bank to see which might be the best option given the international nature. I know CapitalOne has some options where they charge no foreign currency fees making it easier to travel back home etc.
Which one is the one you guys chose?
I dont even know how to look for it on the Chase website, do they have a "common name" for this kind of accounts? All I can see is options for opening accounts as a USA resident
