  1. Im not fishing for sympathy, I just want to put something into perspective for all you guys. My petition was received on may 16th. After 5 years together we were finally coming to the end of our long journey to be together forever. August 11 my life was turned upside down when my darling fiancé was tragically killed in a car accident. I still don't know what to do with myself. For all of you worrying about how long this process is just remember the time is coming for you to be with your loves. You will see each other again no matter how long it takes. I can not come to this thread anymore to read the news. It just hurts way too much.

Much love to everyone going through this process and good luck to you all.

    😘

So tonight I've gone down the rabbit hole and convinced myself that we will have trouble getting our noa2 because Matt is recently divorced :(

Does anyone else go through stages of complete and utter panic that they won't get their NOA2 at all or is it just me?

I'm divorced too. No biggie. We are also using an attorney and she is very confident that we will be approved. If she is confident than I am confident and so should you be! 😊 Best of luck!

    Day 105 here since noa1 :(

Me and my fiancee were apart for 1.5 year :( only facetiming and looots of texts, then when I finally got vacation from work and school I got to go visit him february/march this year. The waiting is terrible and saying goodbye hurts too much. The good thing is that, hopefully, it won't be necessary anymore! :):) keep up with the good vibe guys, we are so close now!

Positive thoughts coming your way! And on a lighter note, it won't be 1 1/2 years until you see each other again!

Just called our favorite people in the world (notice the extreme sarcasm) and was told that an RFE was sent to me on 7/31.  I of course have not seen anything in the mail nor does it show online that an RFE was requested.  I am beyond pissed off and frustrated with the lack of information and compassion from them.  Tier 1 still says that they received it on 3/28 and that they are working on Feb petitions.  Asked for a Tier 2 and got a call back while still trying to setup the callback and they say that I got an RFE. ####### could it possibly be!!!  I can't imagine.  I need something to calm me down.  I wish I could speak with Monica, but she is at work.

That's such a bummer! I've been looking forward to your approval. I'm almost as sad as you over this. But probably not quite.

Haha...oh well, try having not a really good internet connection. The last time I heard his voice was few weeks ago, saw his face over FaceTime was a month ago. I'm just grateful the signal lets me text  to have some decent conversation with him.

Been there too. When he was working offshore for his previous job there were times when months went by with not a word. Finally we are moving forward and I just have such positive feelings going through this process because finally we are getting somewhere no matter how long it takes it's the last leg of our journey.

    A whole year!!!????

i can't even begin to imagine...

as expensive as it is i been flying over to Africa to see my fiancée at least once every 3 months...

i got a second job where I'm making just enough to cover the flight tickets

Rashed tried coming here for Valentine's Day. But there was "not a Muslim ban" going on. When he got to the airport they interrogated him for 7 hours about his religion. Asked him his political views then escorted him to a plane back home.

Almost a year for us too... Skype is good but it oftentimes makes me miss her more... :((

Agreed. I cry when I see his face. We do have Netflix dates quite often though. Watching the same movie on a relaxing day. That's nerdy, but nice

No need to be rude. 1 month, 4 months, 12 months.. it's all long when you are separated from the one you love. We are here together for support and information. Are members who have been away from their S/O for more than X-amount of time allowed to express their feelings here? Nope. Show some compassion.

Jesus you have no sense of humor. I was not being rude. That is just my personality

Probably tmi, but I was in the hospital so sick. He slept in my hospital bed with me. I had this drain tube coming from my stomach and the nurse thought we were so cute laying there that she didn't want to bother us so she didn't empty it in the night and it exploded all over. He didn't run away in fact he sat there with me all day with that nastiness on his clothes and we had only been together for 3 months 😮 In sickness and in health right?

I will add that my grandfather was in the same hospital at the same time and he passed. So in addition to sitting around with my bodily fluid on his clothing, poor Rashed was meeting much of my family for the first time.

So this is kind of off topic, but in trying to break my habit of being a negative Nancy when I'm typically an optimistic realist I thought of a way to bring up every ones spirits, if they do choose to partake.

Lets hear the stories of when you figured out your SO was the one.

To set this off: i knew jonathan was the one when, back when we were just best friends, we were watching some tv thing about divorces and I made a comment that if I get married the only way it end is by death. Jonathan looks at me and says I can get you to give me a divorce. I of course call bs. I don't believe in them. Anyone can do what that want, I just don't like them, but anyway back to the story. I laugh and say oh how do you figure Mr wise one. He looks me straight in the eye and says I'll continuously put the toilet paper on the roll backwards. I called him a monster and fell off the chair laughing. That was my he's mine moment. I ppl forward to reading others responses!

    Lets get the positivity rolling!

    Not even a lunch break ? 🤔

I have found that American culture is very much a workaholic culture. Live to work, instead of work to live (except for USCIS 🤣 ). What is it like only 10 vacation days a year normally ? We get standard 25 days over on this side of the pond. We try to do as little as possible, if we can. Preferably in the pub around lunch time, maybe we'll make it back to the office that day, maybe not 😂 haha

I am worried it's gonna be a culture shock to me. 😬

I work 10 hour days with 20 minute lunch break and 4 paid vacation days per year. That's life.

The implication is that we register to vote and you are required to put your political affiliation on the registration form.  If your choice is incongruent to the affiliation of the person sorting your file -a potential for a bias appears.  Whether a USC actually exercises their right to vote probably would not have a bias as it is an expression of free speech.  Casting votes comes into consideration when someone is trying to become a USC and they have represented themselves already as being a citizen and registering and voting.  Immigration has a very dim view of this type of infraction.

In MN you don't have to register as republican or democrat. Just vote for whomever you please. They do not care here.
