(UPDATED VERSION). - And with the remix of "What's happened on July 3"

    Hey Julies,

I am trying to make a list to see who's left here on which date.  (So far I tracked back to page 280...)

I will try to go around and put everyone I can see, I'm pretty sure there are more people around but I just couldn't find yet.

if you see this message and you are not on the first list, please tag me or just write around which date you are waiting on.

Also please update me, if you got a status change from this list.

  2. We are awaiting the NOA2. My fiancee just moved back to Panama this week (where she has residency) so we will be updating her address and the embassy for the interview. This is inconvenient and expensive, but nothing compared to the situation for the Cubans that have to go to Bogota (if they can even afford it), so we are very blessed and I hope that all of you can get through this.

oh no , what a nightmare. then we need to get in a new line for interview all over again. this is horrible:(

Good morning... I just visited the US Embassy in Havana FB page and one person posted the following, "ohandy, precisamente hoy hable con el dpto de visa nacional y los casos q estan en la embajada y los q estan pendientes de entrevista no hay problema." If that's truly the case, then your interview should proceed. According to the post, they called the  National Visa Center 603-334-0700.

I'm so sorry.... I guess all we can do is check the US Embassy website for updates and contact the State Department. Let us know if you get any options for the interview (for example, by phone or online or if the embassy in Havana will transfer your paperwork & interview to another country). I just wish they had planned some contingencies before making the decision.

QUESTION: Hi. I’m wondering what kind of visas you’ll still be processing in Havana and how Cubans will be able to seek visas for the U.S. generally.

SENIOR STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL TWO: (Inaudible) is make available – and we’re looking at the possibility of people being able to apply for visas at embassies or consulates outside of Cuba in other countries. But we haven’t actually made definitive arrangements yet. We’re continuing to look at that. But all of the kind of regular visas or ordinary visas would not be issued through Havana.

  6. "Cubans are heartbroken, angry can't seek U.S. visas in Havana"

I guess this article has my answer... “We have suspended most visa processing in Havana,” a notice on its website read. “Cuban applicants for non immigrant visas may apply at another U.S. embassy or consulate overseas.”

i think people are getting confused. there are two very different issues happening at the embassy. it was severely flooded which is why visa appointments were rescheduled. the website does not say they have stopped issuing visas, yet anyway: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cu/index.html?firstTime=No

the reduction in personnel i dont believe has begun to affect anything, although it probably will eventually. this is a total nightmare for those of us waiting for interview. we began this process in february and it's heartbreaking not knowing whats happening now.

"U.S. suspends all visas for Cubans, withdraws most staff from embassy in Havana"

"Cuban Americans seeking to have their relatives join them from the island will not be able to do so — at least for the time being — as a result of the announcement Friday of a significant withdrawal of staff from the U.S. Embassy in Havana.

It is not known how long the suspension of the visa reunification program will last."

"The State Department announced the suspension of visas for Cubans without having finalized the details on how they will handle this situation. Another official said that perhaps Cubans could apply for visas in third countries without explaining how the procedure would work.

“Nobody understands what is happening,” said Adrián Núñez, who arrived to Miami from Cuba two years ago and is in the process of seeking a visa for his mother who is still on the island.

“With these new measures I don’t know what will happen,” he said. “Getting out of Cuba is very complicated because few countries allow entry for Cubans without visas.”"

I have friends who went through this process about 12 years ago. The interview was held at the Office of Interest in Cuba (don't know where it was, but I will ask them for more details and circle back on this post). The process was the same, but was not managed by the embassy because it was not open.
