Hello all! It’s been a long time since I’ve checked in and posted. I just wanted to give an overview of how disjointed and disconcerting the whole process is but how elated my fiancé and I are that we’re continuing to move forward!
I am posting this for others on this forum dealing with the aftermath of the USCIS approval and the NVC/London Embassy.
1) waited waited WAITED for the I129 approval
2) called twice a week after 5 months, discouraging platitudes from the office
3) finally received the RFE text from USCIS,
disappointed a little, but happy that they knew we existed!
4) WAITED for the RFE letter
5) turned in the response NEXT DAY (thanks to all your advice!!)
6) about a week to 10 days later got a text from USCIS of approval (woohoo)
7) started contacting the NVC, daily. I was super nice, they were super nice. Only the petitioner can inquire.
8) a week of calling.
9) the questions changed one day by the NVC person... (whoa,.. what’s this).... what’s your birthdate. What’s the name of the petitioned. What’s his birthdate? We have your NVC number. Also here’s the invoice number. I ask what’s that? It’s your password. Keep both numbers for reference. We’ve received your file from the USCIS and once processed we’ll be sending it to the London embassy (WOOHOO!)
10) another week of waiting, meanwhile I’ve mailed my fiancé the ENTIRE packet, the application the RFE paperwork officially known by us as THE BOOK. I hate to say it but it was nice to pass on that albatross to my fiancé..lol
He (the brilliant man) researches here and finds out he can book the medical with the information we received and has booked the medical within 10 days at Knightsbridge. All they need is the NVC number to book.
11) I start calling the NVC again because no news is not good news
meanwhile my fiancé has gathered all documents, medical files, police reports, vaccinations from the schools that have administered them to his children, etc
12) NVC now tell me it’s been sent to London. Wait for “the letter” aka packet 3 for those in the know. They say once it’s left them (and by the way it’s an electronic transmission from the US to U.K.) they have nothing to do with it.
13) researched it here. Packet 3 is not an instruction packet, it’s a letter on instructions that basically refer you to the London embassy website.
14) more research here.. the DS-160 needs filling out. It requires the NVC number which we have. DONE.
15) a week later still no packet 3. My fiancé signs on to the LONDON CEAC website. We are stumped. Over and over again... Because there’s a warning not to proceed without the packet 3 information or you could lose all your money paid if you don’t fill it out correctly with that info.
Its over 600£ per applicant (fiancé and his children). More research here yields nothing helpful— to move forward or keep waiting?— he takes a gamble and goes beyond the warning screen. Honestly nothing to it... no new information needed that could be held by mysterious packet 3! He books the VISA interview 10 days after the medical.
16) Medical appointment. I’ll tell you that story once we get final approval. Enough... said...
17) 3 days later.. which is TODAY. And we receive packet 3 approving our ability to get the VISA appointment. You NEED to present that letter on the day of the interview according to all the information the London embassy publishes so it’s an incredible relief. But research here says some people never receive it and get by with the NVC numbers. Packet 3 had the names of the petitioned, their birthdates, the NVC, instructions to go onto the London website via a link, a recommendation to bring your police reports, request to bring a copy of the i129 approval and any other times a petitioner has submitted an i129 for you (in case this isn’t your first rodeo) and information about how to protect yourself if you’re the (future) victim of domestic abuse as an immigrant to the US
18) VISA interview in 6 days... fingers crossed,...
wish us luck!!!

Hi everyone! Question to all the UK to US couples. Is anyone using a slow freight shipping company or other moving service to move some of your goods to your new home? We’ve only got a few items that we want sent (a chesterfield sofa!) and would love to get a reference from someone here. Thanks!

Medical scheduled for tmrw in London.
Interview scheduled for 10/18.
My girl is freaking out but I keep telling her this is the easy part.
Anyone have any tips on how to schedule travel? I know nothing is for certain until she has visa in hand. I also know about the 1-2 week to get the visa after the interview.
What would be the earliest date it would be "safe" to book a ticket?
Congratulations! (And good luck on the medical). You are a few weeks ahead of us. We’re applying via London As well.
I don’t have any answers for you but only questions. How long did it take for you to get the NVC packet from the time you found out your NVC number? ALSO did you wait for the packet to come before scheduling the interview or did you just use the NVC #? Thanks!

Sorry again to sound so ignorant but where can I view the “in transit” status?

Thanks! We found out we were approved by calling and speaking to a Tier 2. We have gotten text and email notifications for all steps (NOA1, rfe, rfe response) but not for this. Makes me nervous!!
We were nervous even when we got the text! Glad to have the paperwork in hand but I can only imagine how you're feeling. This is just a big psychological waiting game and hopefully it won't be much longer for your hard copy!
Wishing you all the best and for speedy mail

Question for anyone who called and found out you were approved and were getting your NOA2.... how long after your call did you receive a notification? Our status hasn't been updated nor have I received an email or text. Just curious because I'm gonna worry until I have something in writing
I got my official paperwork/letter on Saturday,
4 days after my text notification

Hi everyone, what is the number to call to see if we can get an NVC number before the "packet" arrives so that we can make the medical appointment with Knightsbridge in London asap?

NOA2 APPROVED!
We are ecstatic! Thanks to everyone for all their encouraging words of support.
For the record, I mailed our RFE "book" response on 9/9/2017 to the post office overnight express.
We received an email and website update on 9/11/2017 that it was received
We just got a text response today 9/20/2017 that the NOA2 was approved.

my fiance just called and was refused a tier 2. 153 days and i dont know what the hell to do. I'm at the end of my tether and being the beneficiary I can't do anything from my side of things. Just feel so bloody defeated, just being told "wait" or "it's within the timeframe"
Do a "congressional" move and make a congressional petition Melodica256! At the very least it's empowering to know the vote we place and the person in the senate office that got the job after their campaign promises works for Us!!

So we just received our NOA2 in the post. We were actually approved on the 7th, hardcopy sent out on the 8th, case tracker updated 11th as well as hardcopy received.
Pretty impressed that it got to NC so quickly from California. Can anyone explain what the alien number on the hardcopy is used for please?
Also my son (k2) petition isn't mentioned on the NOA2, is that normal?
Congratulations! Let me know how the K2 works out. My fiancée's sons are my K2's

After these horrible weeks of waiting we finally got an answer. Not the one we wanted though... so sad to get a RFE it was on sep 7. Our noa1 is april 19
Awwww... I was actually happy to get my RFE! At least my file wasn't sitting lost in a dark corner accidentally shoved under someone's desk! Hopefully it's just a box you forgot to tick off. In anticipation though, just so you can get it out the next day, consider gathering more proof that you'd met. Passport stamp copies with the passport pictures, etc

No RFE so far, but never been able to get to a Tier 2 - always get deflected at the Tier 1 with the "February case" thing. Calling again today.
Melodica,
Make yourself one of the "congressional" cases.
Write a letter to your senator. When the USCIS recieves an inquiry I hear they put your case in the 48 hour pile. Expedited.
You and I are 2 days apart in the NOA 1, you were before me.
I finally got upset and wrote to my senator and although I didn't get a written response back, I got a notification about 5 days later. Coincidence? Cause and effect? We shall never know. I only know that I got a response, even if it was an RFE.

Yes, I'm quite under that impression too, though I don't know how well prepared or front loaded were the different petitions. But considering a lot of people used visa services and lawyers and still got one, yes, so it seems
I used a legal service too... 🙁

It's funny you call it a book, lol, but for what you said of all the things you are sending and it being over a hundred pages, it IS a book
What I did when preparing our package, along with sending the stamps, was adding the travel history from the i94 website. My thinking was that's an official document, so obviously I was there when I said I was... Plus I didn't overstay
Best of luck!
My book is in the mail, but can you post the link to the i94 website for anyone who has future RFE's to reconcile?

Hi good day everyone! As you see I'm in a good mood in this post lol After all the days of waiting and ranting about whatnots. We finally got our NOA2 this morning (but it was a saturday evening in the U.S.). It was approved on September 5th if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for all who gave hope to people like me who waited longer than others. And the people who took a bit of their time to encourage and give us a pat on the back when we were feeling low. You guys are the best 👍👍👍 Goodluck to those people who are still waiting. I can imagine what you're going through but yeah, it's definitely coming. 💪💪💪
Congratulations!!! I've been cheering and waiting for your approval as well!! So happy for you!

i thought about this : so, in terms of uscis employee... we all have to prove the existence of a relationship of the last two years, then official proofs are needed .. such as photos work as adding, since it can be assumed that the photos were taken 2,5 or 3 years ago,
Exactly. I understand exactly where they're coming from.
My issue with this is that for all us applicants this should be a written expectation on the "things to send list."
Send us copies of your tickets
send us the passport stamps
send us your passport face page
It doesn't ever state that on the application and the only way I figured it out was because of all of you here--- and then of course the RFE.
Unfortunately they also state, "to include but not limited to the passport stamps...tickets... etc". So I gave them everything I could find. I don't want another delay.
Thanks to all of you folks here I was able to anticipate their request and had it ready before they asked. The six hours of working on it were Spent fondly looking over my pictures and reminiscing and missing my sweetheart.

Yes, you're right. That is exactly what they asked for and my RFE book included everyone's stamps.

I wanted to say thanks to you guys, as I have been lurking in your I-129F April forum - read it multiple times a day -, even though I do not quite belong here. I filed an I-130 at the end of April (Received date of April 26/Notice date of May 1) and filed an I-129F | K3 at mid-May (Received date of May 12/Notice date of May 16) as we got married in Russia. We were using your guys' enthusiasm and positive energy to manage through this frustrating time-period of open ended approval date together with my wonderful wife. There are only a few K3 applications on the entire site, and there was 1 in my timeline vicinity, therefore the timeline estimate does not even work.... Additionally, I could not track the status of I-130 online either until Sept 5 = case was not found, but I could track the I-129F, I was banking on getting that approved first based on what I saw happening.
So, here came the surprise - no notification, no status update online (still pending), but this morning I opened my mailbox and I found a single mail - it was the I-797 NOA2 for the I-130 petition | APPROVED on Sept 1. SRC*****41577 in 123 DAYS.
What an awesome Saturday present! Of course, now comes the NVC and stuff, but at least from here, the process is transparent and predictable.
This came in 2 months faster than current statistics, therefore those of you who are waiting, there is a chance that it will go faster. It is easier said than done, but hang in there, it is a wonderful feeling when you finally get what you want and deserve.
Last but not least, it seems that at least the Texas Service Center is working more or less okay.
Thanks again for the opportunity and wish you an expeditious approval of your case!
P.S. My timeline is updated.
AWESOME! Congratulations!

Update
NOA 1 4-13
I received an electronic notice that the USCIS was mailing me an RFE on 9/5. My online status changed almost immediately. I live in San Diego and the CSC is in Los Angeles. I didn't get the letter until 9/8.
The RFE requested more proof of our seeing each other. The request I thought I'd fulfilled was to prove that we had seen each other at least once before. Apparently the electronic tickets (of several trips) I'd sent and pictures were not enough. The letter states I needed to at least send a copy of a boarding pass or other such evidence as well as copies of the face page and passport stamps. My fiancé and I have seen each other nearly a dozen times in our relationship and I didn't want to copy every piece of evidence about every visit. Some of these visits included his family coming to meet mine and one of my children coming with me to see them in the UK. We have pictures of our kids and us gathering around the Grand Canyon and sitting in rides at Disneyland with us for god's sake. Also, since we are so electronically dependent most of our tickets have been electronic boarding passes.
This antiquated requirement they have is outrageous!
Soooooo.... deep cleansing breath..... I gave them EVERYTHING. I sent them the electronic tickets, I sent them the proof of purchase transactions for the tickets. I sent them corroborating passport stamps of every visit by me, him, and even our Kid's passport book stamps. I sent them pictures of me and him and our family together with arrows and names over our heads and dates they occurred with all the famous sites labelled. I sent them copies of the boarding passes we did gather and luggage tags that happened to be stuffed into luggage pockets and even photo snapshots of the electronic boarding passes we used (sometimes I do that in case there's no wifi or LTE service).I sent them credit card bills of purchases made while we were in the other country, The entire package was 129 pages with cross referenced flight details, times the flights departed, changed planes, airports we changed planes in, and times we arrived.
See, what they don't realise is that all of us hunny bunnies LOVE to show Off our relationship in full animated colour copies littered with smiles and joy. The gathering was a trip down memory lane and even if it took six hours and a sleepless night to gather it all, it went out in the mail this morning with a copy sent to my fiancé. Btw. The RFE gets sent to a PO box so it can only be sent through the US postal service, not FedEx.
Best of luck to all of you and please send good wishes my way that the "book of evidence" was well received and gets me speedily to the next step.

Saying congrats, all things considered, is probably a little bit too much, but I'm glad you've got news and your case has been touched
As usual, let's hope for a quick arrival of that letter and an easy fix. Any idea of what can that be about? Always good to plan ahead
Not sure what it could be, I'm hoping it's a box that needs to be ticked off that was overlooked as we sent a lot of pictures and plane ticket copies and copies of texts between us with dates. But, if it's not that then there are a few things I could add to the file.
1) copies of every page of our passports with all the entry stamps
2) copies of his minor children's tickets and passport stamps (they came to meet and greet my children and we went on a road trip to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas as a family).
3) my name is hyphenated from a previous marriage. People mess around with the hyphen and the two names all the time so I have a bunch of aliases that I did not create but were made by organisations because some computer systems don't have a "hyphen" and drop the hyphen and add a space or remove the space between my two names. I wonder if that might have caused a glitch.
4) more picture and proof. Lol, I love our pictures as a couple and a family. I could spend all day sharing my photo album and details with them!
I'll keep you all posted.
