Based on your location your wait time is approximately this, counting from your filing date, so deduct it from your wait time! Good luck 🍀happy new year  🥳  hopefully this new year brings us our green cards already lol

We had our AOS interview yesterday at the Detroit Field office and we got approved on the Spot . Our appointment is at 11:20AM and we reached there and passed through the security around 11:00. And we waited in the large waiting area for about 40 minutes until the Office called my name for the interview. The IO is a very sweet middle aged white lady and she appeared to have gone through my application thoroughly and the moment we walked into her office, she said she doesn't have any questions about the validity of my marriage and she just need to verify some basic information and she would approve my green-card. Everything went very smooth. She just verified the stuff on the forms like my DOB, parents names, current address and when i came into US, what visa statuses i had and so on. And then the mandatory YES/NO questions from form I-485. And then she asked my wife if its her signature on the forms and she checked with me about my signatures as well. The interview lasted for about 15 or 20 minutes and at the end, she said she just approved the Green-card and she ordered for the card. I requested to see if she can place the I-551 stamp on my passport but she said it's only required if I am travelling within the next one or two weeks outside the USA. So I didn't get a stamp on my passport. She explained about the conditional residency and we need to apply for ROC in about 21 months and made us sign a document referring to the 2 year conditional residency and removal of conditions. And we thanked the Immigration officer for her help and support and she walked us out to the waiting area and we thanked her and said good bye for now.

So overall it was a great experience and very easy than i expected. The IO did't even ask for any originals or any documents. We brought with us a whole bunch of documents and 4 albums of pictures. But she did't even look at them. So I believe a strong application with good explanation letter about evolution of relationship helped us alot. The IO even commented it to my wife who wrote the "Evolution of relationship letter" that she loved how my wife explained everything in her letter addressing the officer.

I thank you all the VJ filers for their valuable support and advice they gave me through this AOS journey and I wish you all the very best and hoping for your AOS to go as smoothly as possible. 😁

So we had an interview for GC yesterday and we was approved!! Emotionally exhausted but absolutely happy!! 🤩🤩🤩
Case status has changed to "card is being produced" in an hour after interview.
    San-Diego office

Interview took about 30 minutes. IO was friendly and calm, but asked a lot of questions.

First he asked us to show all original documents - passport, birthday certificate, marriage and divorce papers.

He didn't ask a medical exam, I've send just vaccination list.

Then was questions from I-485 form: names, addresses, date of birth, date when i came to US, all those criminal/terrorist questions.
Then he asked when I first time came to US, how many times I was here and where, what type of visa i used. When I've got my K1 visa and where, if I worked in US before during my stay

Then he started to ask my husband - how we met, some questions about his divorce, he took his divorce papers and attached them to case.
Asked him about his job, how we met first time, what we did my first visit.

To this time it started to look more as talking we both answered, he made notes in the case.

So other questions: when I came second time, if he visited my country, how long was my most long stay (I've stayed for 5,5 months before), how we engaged, about wedding, where we live now, why we use PO box for correspondence.

Then he asked what kind of joint papers we have - we has rent and insurances. He asked why we didn't make joint account, but for his bank we needed my SSN and I just got it 5 days ago so it our future step.
He said its ok, yes, some banks more care about documentaries and he knows that our bank works this way.

Then he looked through pictures - I've printed them on printer, two pictures on the list, about 25 pages - pictures from weddings, meeting with friends, with parents, from home and our travels and camping. He looked through all pictures, we made comments, and he took all pictures and attached to the case.

We also had a letter from friends, but he said he needn't it now. Also I had letter from friends with post stamps with congrats and stickers from amazon boxes with mu name and address on them - but never went through it)

Then he said that everything seems good, he just need to make one more background check and if nothing would out we would get a notification. Told about removal conditions and such things.

In an hour we've got notification that New card is being proceed!))
    Goood luck to everyone!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

NZ is pretty much like Germany. Just that education is free in Germany (u may have to pay a small enrollment fee, or book)...

Relating to the ones talking about not being able to work or drive and living on one income. It sucks because you can't really go out and do things unless you're going to a park or something (I'm in the midwest, the beach is not even an option and coming from New Zealand I really miss it). If you want to go out to dinner with friends, okay can we fit an extra 60 bucks into the budget, like dates to theme parks or even just dinner and the movies is all a oh we need to think about if we can make it work with the budget. Gotta limit things like clothes and food and entertainment and home decor, stuff that is probably first world issues but before moving to America was a normal part of your life because you were earning an income and you were able to do whatever you wanted but now you gotta budget cause you're on one income. I mean what do they think 25 year olds are earning and supporting 2 people on that income, I realize we are probably more blessed than most because he has a good job but it's still not what we are used to. Realistically it's 6 months of waiting for EAD and then who knows how much longer after that to find a job, could be a month could be another 6 months, smaller the town you're living in probably the longer it will take to get a job. You can't return to your own country to work there in the mean and earn some income because they don't allow you to leave! Blah. Immigrating and the culture shock is also real and not always easy to adjust to the different way people do things, so much to deal with all at once. I wish they had a better process behind this all and had some sort of logical explanation for why k1 is done the way it is, or at least a quicker EAD after you're married. My father in law said it wasn't always this difficult but there are people who took advantage of the system and ruined it for everyone else in the future, including the good ones. So it's been 4 months for me now since I moved here, we have been married 2 months, I love my husband and his patience and good heart but I am getting so antsy. I walk the dogs, we go the gym, there is usually some family thing happening every other weekend but we need to budget for those cause they are either 2+hours away or out of state and driving 4 hours is a full tank of gas which is money so yeah. I am very much looking forward to getting my EAD and a job and getting to a much more normal life again. RANT OVER!!

Ahh right! Thanks for reminding me, I didn't think about that.

So to be clear @apinchofstella - if you have more than 14 days left until your I-94 expires, then you can do what @Swissmiss82 did. If not, you will probably have to wait for your EAD

    @apinchofstella yes, @LizM is right.
I was an aupair too, had a SSN and i just went to the office, gave them my old name with passport, so they found me in the system.
And i handed them the marriage cert, so they asked a few security questions (name of parents etc) and that was it

i'm sure you'll get it immediately too!

ahhhhh @Shoegum is a june filer too  yaaaay! so happy we are in the same boat!

    Re the gap:

If you get asked and have spent your time relatively productively then you simply say something like this:

"It was an involuntary period of unemployment because of the immigration process but in the end if was actually a great opportunity because I did x, y and z. In the end it worked out as a type of sabbatical which helped me improve my skills and really focus on what I wanted to achieve in my career - I'm excited to get back into the work force and bring my new skills, training and ideas to your company"
