Hi guys, been a long time since I checked in!
 
Fiance is at the embassy interview as I write this!! Ayeeeeeeee!!

I didn't have a problem at all! That' strange!

We just had my passport and the recent i94, and that worked: got my SSN card in the mail 4 days after filing!

SSN is the only thing we've done in my maiden name, because I got told it's necessary to have it before AOS and then change the name, because if you never appear with your maiden  name, it seems like you "suddently" popped up, because you never entered the states, having the married name. Don't know if that's true, but I got that info from several people. 
I'd not have needed it for our marriage license though. 
I'll just change the name on it after I get the green card (they want a valid ID with the name on, so the old passport wouldn't even work for that).

I came on K-1 Visa with a one way ticket in September.
I had no problem checking in, flew HAM - KEF - BOS - RIC, and got only asked in Iceland why I don't have a return ticket. I said I'm on a K-1 visa, she looked in the passport and it was alright.

How long was the stopover? I've never done shorter stopovers than 3,5 hours, to be safe. Was enough all the time!

I can't tell you how happy I was to see this post!  A dream come true - something worked so hard for and sacrifices made just to get to this moment.  Your dress is AMAZING!   Have a great trip back home today, enjoy every moment from here on, and when you eventually one day come to So Florida, be sure to say HI and Let's All Meet for BEERS. 
The hardest part of any move is saying goodbye to those we won't be seeing on a daily basis anymore.  Not only the parents but also the other close relatives who have celebrated the holidays and birthdays with us for the last 2 to 3 decades.  Have a simple POE and I wish you the best of luck in the future with your new life.  I think you are just hours away from Chicago now  
So glad to read this post, You are well on the way now.  It was also good to read you are happy.  Isn't it wonderful to be with your love and family at the same time?  Just a great drive to Colo Spgs and you are in your new home.  It has been a lot of fun hanging with you over this past summer and reading your posts has been an encouragement to many.  Have a great life together, and I pray you find your new neighborhood as friendly as your hometown.  Congratulations!

I'll have to write a review for Newark POE here in VJ because the officers there made my fiance feel like a VIP the whole experience from start to finish.  They directed her to the first line and welcomed her to the USA, kidded around with her, asked when she was getting married then retorted with a big cheesy smile 'How will I know if you actually get married?'  Congratulated her for arriving safely, asked her where she was going to live in the US and said 'Oh!  You are going to love it there!'.  Escorted her to the secondary room, took her envelope to the desk for her and offered her a seat in the waiting area.  In 2 to 3 minutes she heard 'chunk, chunk' stamps and her name called and they handed her passport and again congratulated her and pointed the way out to the terminal for the connecting flight.  Lickity split and all the smiles and congratulations and friendly treatment on top.  I am so thankful for the courtesy of the CBP officers and staff for taking such good care of my Fiancee   To make it all the better........ They didn't scribble ANYTHING or stamp on the K1 visa!  It is still in new condition.  They stamped on the next page and initialed.  We worked and sacrificed like nothing else in our lives to get this to come to pass.  All the blood, sweat, tears, hours of working in the tropical heat doing construction jobs on days I wasn't working at the hospital, all of this over many many months, came down to a little sticker in a passport that means the world to the 2 of us.
Today we went to church together, this time on THIS side of the world.  Yeah, this is what it all was for, and so worth it......   Welcome to Miami, ANN!
