Tell him to log in the site and update his profile.

Same thing I did after our previous k1 and it worked for me

We did that. Even changed his address to the new address, chose CR1/IR1 everything and still.

It would be better if you call the NVC to find out. It's quite a specific issue. I don't know if somebody here can help you with the information.

    Ok thank you

Also my husband did the registration for visa pick up and it pulled the information from when we did the DS-160 (we filed fiance initially), but it didn't let us put in his interview date of tomorrow, even though we put CR1/IR1. It just would only remember the DS-160. It told us to print the confirmation page but that confirmation page still shows DS-160 and an interview date of 2016. It's just not updating at all. Is this a problem?

Will they still let him into the Consular for the interview?

Hi can anyone answer this for me? Before it's too late for us to do anything about it? Please

We have that too as well as our marriage certificate.

Don't worry,by his grace it will end in praise

    Amen.

I'm just realizing that it's something common in Nigeria as most people are not even aware that traditional marriage is legally recognized. I didn't know, I had to email the Consulate and they clarified everything for me. I didn't get the 'regular' marriage cert before leaving Nigeria because I was like they would think we're not valid for the fiance visa because we had gone to the 'regular' marriage registry. So what I was trying to avoid is what ended up happening. I wish we had done that instead, but we already had a hall booked, wedding decor, Church prep, DJ, everything was done, in the US. We were so heartbroken, but we thank God for His strength. We have overcome and we will continue to overcome in Jesus name.

You mean the native law&customs testimony as the traditional certificate?Where you both not married at the registry too?

We too had a previous fiance visa denied last yr.

Yeah just the native law and customs testimony, but from the registry. We didn't do the 'regular' registry. I couldn't travel back to Nigeria, because right before he went for the fiance interview I moved back to the US, we lived together in Nigeria. I can't even start explaining the long story. Anyway this whole process has cost my husband and I and our families way too much. I'm just asking God for favor.

It will end in praise sis. Congratulations to you and your husband in advance.

We finally got our case number on friday

Thank you Sis. Oh Thank God!!!

I have been giving him quickfire interview questions. I'm waaaayyy more nervous than he is. But our journey has been long, we were denied the K1 Visa before and that really broke us down. We could only get the traditional marriage certificate and my heart has been doing gbim gbim since. I just want these people to know that we just want to be together and start our family, is that too much to ask?

In addition to what O&O has stated, you can add other supporting docs if you have like flight itenery of any family member that came to Nigeria with you during the wedding,a brief write up on how you both met, screenshots of calls/chat logs, add him as a beneficiary on your insurances(life, retirement)if you have one, copy of the confirmation page  of his registration with the Intergovernmental marriage committee(IMC)which enables anyone that has access to your marriage certificate number anywhere in the world access online. as well as any other supporting document you have.

For the IMC,it depends on where the marriage was done because if it was done in Ikoyi, you shouldn't bother about the registration with IMC.

Abies please what's IMC? Cause I don't have my marriage registered in IMC

Hello everyone. I am new to this website and hopefully can get some advice.  There's a 29 year age difference between me and my fiance. We met online one year ago through a mutual friend and fell in love.  Although we video chat for hours and hours every day we will not be meeting in person until November. He tried to get a tourist visa back in November of 2017 and was refused.  We believe his situation has improved since that time and he's more able to now provide documentation of strong ties to Egypt so he will be trying again in August.  If he is refused again I will be flying to Egypt in November and we plan to marry there.  And then plan to apply for cr1 visa for him.  I realize that our age difference will be a red flag... However I have a Year's worth of daily chats that I can print out as evidence of our relationship.

My question is, what are the chances that they will refuse a cr1 Visa because of our age difference?

I know it's difficult to marry in Egypt but I'm willing to do all of this for us...so that we can start our life together. But I would be devastated to marry him and then be told we can't be together here in the US.

Any advice on how to better our chances?

    Thank you,

    MJ

I strongly advise that before you marry, you plan several visits, you visit him and he visits you, meet his family and friends and vice versa. And document it all. Then if you still feel you're called to be married to him, marry him and file.

Thanks alot.. my husband is going to take me to the SS office one or 2days after my arrival to have it done because I need to start up a certificate course immediately as well as my driving test

That might not save time, I'd suggest you tick yes and still go to the SS office once you arrive. No penalty for doing either.

    Hi guys,

So I finally travelled to the US yesterday and got in around 9pm local time. My POE was Newark, I wasn't asked a single question , the Immigration officer took my packet, stamped my passport and welcomed me to the United States. Within 1hr I was done, the only sad part was they took my suya (😭😭😭 , my Nigerian folks would understand) the journey has been a tedious one and I'm so glad to be with my dear hubby. I wish every one success , and my prayers are with you guys. Just hang in there, it would soon be over .

    YAAAAAYYYYY WELCOME!!!!!

How were you able to get suya into the plane? Or do you mean kilishi?
