  1. Hello all! I was approved this morning! Was quite eventful, interview was 9.30am and i left at 11.15am.

It was a small room with 4 windows, basically there's only 1 consulate throughout.

It was so loud that I get to listen to everyone's interview.

I queued up at window 1 to give them my doc pack. I sorted them neatly in a multiple slot box filer but they want me to take everything out as a stack of paper.

I gave them my ID card and passports. They took 2 photos from me as well.

Then they called my name and the local officer handed me back the stack of paper, asking me to give the stuff to him one by one as he goes through a list. Then he handed me the notes about family violence and abuse and asked me to read it before my interview.

I was last to be called in the room as they chose my case as training case since it's a simple case. Consulate told me not to be scared as she would point to the screen and show the apprentice something during the interview as part of the training.

    Questions asked:

    - Who is petitioning for your visa today?

    - what does he do?

    - How did you meet each other?

    - Were you married before?

    - Was your husband married before?

    - Do you have children?

    - Does he have children?

    - What is your birthday?

    - Where is your husband now?

    - Where does his parents live?

    - Does your husband live in the same place as his parents?

    - Is your husband given any sort of financial support from his parents or anyone else?

Consulate asking the apprentice behind her: Do you have any questions you would like to ask? (No.)

It was a bit hectic for me: I didnt know i was supposed to follow the "American citizen" queue and was directed to the wrong queue as they assumed i must be here for the tourist visa (long queue vs no queue); someone fainted at security check (too hot inside), an old chinese couple came to me and asking me to fill out forms for them (back and forth throughout the whole process <_<!!) as they dont read english.  I have a lot of papers, but i was glad i have those and a lot of photos with me because the person in front of me was scrutinized why they only have a few photos. (I didnt hear if she was approved because i was distracted by the old couple)

I brought a book to kill time as they would keep your phones.

My i130-a visa is on process.. they received my application last october 4.. the problem is im pregnant now.. what will happen to my petition? they will allow me to fly going u.s? or i’ll they will not allow me to travel and stay here until i delivered my baby? i can go to us with my baby or that is another process?

Hello, to be able for other member to answer your questions correctly you need the below things:

    1. Fill in your timeline, or provide key information of your petition (which centre, country, etc)

    2. How long are you preggo / when are you due

Obviously you can still travel during your early pregnancy but i dont think the petition is gonna beat the baby delivery.

    Hello fellow VJers :)

This wednesday, my husband and I are going to the states to visit my family for the holidays (3 weeks). The last time the both of us have been back was July of 2016, so it's been a while. We recieved our NOA2 a few months ago, but we are still nervous about Matias crossing through immigration. Below we have the following paperwork but we were wondering if they might hassle us even though I'm coming back to Argentina to live until our Green card is approved.

Paperwork: Property deed of business, NOA1, NOA2, Flight itinerary, Car rental, travel insurance showing dates of travel, Argentine tax reciept for this month.

We are living with our in-laws so we don't have a lease or deed and we are staying with a friend while in Wisconsin.

    Thank you so much! :)

Hi! I think you are well prepared on the paperwork. I visited last month (Nov 17) when my case was a "case complete" at NVC and i had an interview date assigned.

They did not even look at any paper work they just let me through.

    Hi,

I have been visiting several times for 2 months each visit and never had a problem. In fact never a CBP officer asked me anything about an I-130 or immigration. My purpose of visit was vacation which is true. Anyhow, now once my file reaches NVC,  I read that CBP officers will automatically know that someone is on the way to immigrate. Can anyone confirm that CBP get such "alert" or do they need to dig into your information before finding that?

It does not appear so as i was only asked one question: How long are you planning to stay", i answered and off i go.

So i assume the officer was looking at the my passport profile front page and it doesnt say anything.

But with one click they can probably see it in the second layer of the profile.

And yesterday was another big milestone.

I have received the big enveloppe with all the documentation and my passport including the CR-1 visa.

Looking at it brought an incredible feeling of relief, but also the realization that this is real and concrete...

The next step is the easy one, clearing the POE !

I'm beyond happy that my husband and I will be able to fly together to the US, I just cannot wait :-)

    Congrats on receiving the package!!!!

I am looking forward to that same concrete feeling as my husband would always say "oh i do have a wife" whenever we travel 13 hours to see each other lol.

Counting down to interview 6 days to go

    Happy holidays!!!

    Hi there,

Best of luck for the interview!

We bought our airline tickets (my husband will be here for xmas/New Years and we will fly together to the US) when the date of the interview was announced. It didn't seem too risky as we will be flying 30 days after the interview, that took place last Tuesday on DEC 5th.

As I'm typing this, I haven't received the Visa enveloppe and my passport back yet, and it has been 6 days.

I'd say that booking a flight 8 days after the interview seems a bit tight perhaps?

Hey!!! Congrats on running past the finish line and waiting to claim your trophy!!!!!

How did your interview go? I am having mine in 10 days. Very anxious indeed..... I check and check the papers and document many many times still cant stop worrying.

    Hello everyone,

How long it takes for NVC to receive case after approval ? It's been a month for me

    thanks

The question should be how long for NVC to receive after it was sent. Mine was sent Sep 25 and NVC received on Oct 3.

From approval to sent in USCIS took 25 days tho. Approval was Aug 31. Check USCIS online status it should show the date "your case was sent to DOS" then you can start calling NVC.

  7. 2 hours ago, No-Where-Man said:

Thanks for your reply. But I meant was it updated to sent to nvc then later nvc got it, or nvc got it before it waa updated on uscis? Mine approved Nov, 16 and so far it says case was approved. So im trying to figure out if it was sent to nvc or still at USCIS

In my case case was approved Aug 31, Sent to DOS Sep 25 and Received by NVC on Oct 3.

I strongly believe it is queued to be sent out.

I've also had a NVC case close on Nov 16 and only received a letter on Nov 21 with the case number and INV number saying i can now start my process.

You can see it takes them a really long time to send out something.

Thank you so much Nattie.. how about for iv package?

For IV i submitted copies of (mine was new electronic upload process no paper was mailed):

    - my birth cert

    - my passport bio page

    - electronic file of my passport type photo

    - marriage cert

    - receipt of applying for police cert (it will be sent directly to embassy in my country)

Hope it helps but I highly recommend you check the requirements of your country cos it might be different.

  9. Hello everyone! Got in LAX alright on Friday and here's the details:

At immigration I was so nervous since the guy in front of me got taken to the interview room.

officer: hello! How long are you planning to stay?

    me: 8 days.

officer: please put your hands on the scanner.....(and the whole process was done in 1 minute no other questions asked and I got in)

My guess is the visa status won't show up on the front page of the profile and unless they look into it...

but then I was pushing my luggages through (I was moving some clothes and belongings bit by bit every time I get in since it's free to fly them as checked bags), the guy things I have food / agriculture products in there so I was led to an extra scan queue for my bags and I got out ok.

gonna come home for the interview on Dec 21 for my CR-1 yey! Happy Thanks giving!!!!

What kind of questions do the officers make for the turist visa?

In my country they simply ask why you going and what you do for a living.

My entire family just got it last month since i'm moving soon and it was pretty quick and straight forward for all of them.

Long story short. We submitted the wrong police clearance with our packet, 2 days ago. I just got the right one and want to send that in, in order to avoid a checklist.

My lawyer’s advice is either wait for a checklist and then submit it right away or sometimes they give you a CC and then ask you to bring the right one in for the interview. She said you can only use the cover sheet once and if you send it without one it’ll probably never reach your file.

    Opinions?

Can you copy the cover sheet and use it again?

If i were you i will try to send an email and explain that you are aware of this wrong document, attach the correct one so they know that you already have it and give you a CC and have you bring it to interview instead..

I think what your lawyer said makes sense.

Well obviously, Friday was a holiday... took me f-o-r-e-v-e-r to talk to a representative today, as I still didn't have a date for the interview.

And... *drumroll*, as a a matter of fact, today... I was told that my interview had been scheduled for DECEMBER 5th ! Like, super soon!

Someone is not going to be able to sleep tonight, out of sheer excitement! :-)   WOOOOOT!

    Congrats!!! :jest:

My CC was Nov 6, nothing scheduled yet but i dont think we will have interview until early or mid Jan since there's other VJ members from my country having earlier CC date is already scheduled at late Dec.
