My husband filed his I-485 on July 20, 2017. As of mid-October, our status has said, “Your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview.” NO change since then. I looked at the processing times both on this website and on the USCIS and both have Houston taking longer than anywhere in the country. Why??

I know! We filed 06/17/2017 and still nothing :(

Which entry are you talking about? The date on the upper right corner (Feb 2018) shouldn't matter. It's the date at the bottom left that does. It should state 07/17/17, which as of today, is the latest version of the form.

Yeah, we have the exact same problem then. We should be fine, as long as we resubmit soon. I'm mailing in another packet today and you should do the same. :) If you want, we can chat about it via private message before mailing out, so we're 100% sure we're submitting the right things! :D

The box (#12) that asks you when your last entry into the U.S was, you put 02/26/2018

We have to resubmit! For me, it definitely was because I used an old form - I just called USCIS and they told me the same thing as our ever helpful fellow VJ-members above have said. Just make sure you use the form from the USCIS website and have everything attached. There should be no fee.

What reasons did they give you for rejection?

Your last entry says February 2018, should it be 2017??

You think so? As I see in a facebook group for Houston AOS filers, there are people from all over the world, different religions, various age groups, various backgrounds (DACA, K-1, F-1, B1/2).

At least, it's safe to say that Houston office doesn't discriminate based on the country of origin. They don't care about all of us :D

Haha! Not only the country, but also the visa type. I have been doing alot of searching online using different sites and I noticed that many who are on F-1 or B1/2 take well over a year close to two years.

Also, the FB page doesn't have many adjusting from K1. My friend got her green card in Feb this year, and she applied for AOS from K1 last Feb. Exactly one year here in Houston. She was also from the same country as my husband.

That is interesting. Another couple, overall same as us, gay couple from Philippines, submitted there AOS finally (they waiting a while cause of money) I think like in... May-June of 2017 after us and think February they got the GC, so almost same 9-10 month time frame. That is kind of interesting though to know there are others that are almost at 2 years now.

I think different countries have something to do with it also

Either the office slowed down or they are taking their sweet time these days. We filed a little over 3 months prior to you and were done by December 2017.. can check our timeline below.. Guess in some way it shows how each case is different.

Yep, really strange. Hoping to get it at the one year mark like many others have gotten.

    Thanks for starting this.
    LOL
We already talked about this but I'll be checking back in on here once I file my AOS so we can see how we're doing.

Most likely will have AOS first week of July from what am gathering

    Good luck to you

  7. I am creating this thread to help all of the Houston 2017 filers come together and share updates in one place. Since Houston is one of the most slowest offices currently, it would benefit all of us to communicate and share any experiences we are going through when it comes to the AOS from a K1 visa in Houston.

Please share any communications you have with Infopass associates or USCIS phone calls, and any other movement or changes with your case.

    My current timeline:

    AOS NOA1: 06/17/2017

Ready to be scheduled for interview: 07/18/2017

On old USCIS site: USCIS currently can't provide you with any information...: April 2018

I just received NOAs for my renewal applications in the today mail. To my huge unpleasant surprise, an automatic extension only applies to employment authorization but NOT to advance parole. It is overtly said in the NOA letter: "If your EAD is a combo card, the automatic extension does not apply to advance parole." I am disappointed because I had a trip scheduled for late October and it is clear now that I won't be able to make it. My current EAD/AP expires at the end of September and the processing time for renewal applications is over 6 months.

When you renewed your AP and EAD, how long did it take you to get your NOA1 after filing? I am waiting 10 days now, not sure if that is the norm?

Much of it is to do with geographical location, unfortunately. When I had an infopass appointment the USCIS officer pretty much says big cities i.e Houston and Philadelphia are clogged because when Trump was inaugurated many out of status immigrants etc jammed in applications to try and get legal. The biggest areas that were impacted by this are big cities that have a large immigrant population.

But you know, I don't think it's only the geographical location, I think the type of visa you are coming from also has priorities over others because of complexities

People with different offices are getting approved.
Because their office either has lower case load and/or processes cases faster.

I just think it doesn't make any sense why someone has to suffer because of the geographical region they are in.
If New Mexico has no cases, ship some from Pennsylvania and Houston to them!

and have the busy offices only conduct the interviews. I mean it really should not be skewed this much

I agree. I have been searching all over for data and information on what other filers are going through. I honestly don't see filers from past Feb 2017 getting scheduled interviews in Houston very much. It's as if things just stopped here. :(
