    I haven't done it yet but as far as I know, you apply the same way as the first time. You fill out an I-765 and a I-131 and send it in with all the necessary documents. It doesn't cost anything since your I-485 is still pending. The earliest you can apply for renewal is 180 days before your current one expires. I will send mine exactly at 180 days because it can take the same amount of time as the first time to get your new card.

    It is around 180 days before it expires, for anyone wondering. For example, mine expires November 21, so I need to reapply around May 25! 

     

    I am so glad you mentioned this, or I might have completely forgotten about this. 

    (I am a september filer, and was one of the first there to get an EAD; however, I am in a very slow city for greencards, and have not heard anything either, so I am assuming I need to re-apply for the EAD, just in case.)

    Ich hab eine Schilddruesenunterfunktion und du must dir wegen der Kosten keine Sorgen Machen. Ich war hier einmal beim Hausarzt und hab meine Werte checken lassen. Dann hab ich ein Rezept bekommen, dass ich ein Jahr lang in der Apotheke auffuellen lassen kann. Und die Tabletten kosten mich pro Monat glaub ich $13. Kann mich nicht hundert Prozent erinnern, was der Preis ist, aber so in dem Raum ungefaehr.

    If so then yes they likely missed your 3 certified marriage certificates due to being all clipped to the I-485. The EAD and AP apps go to a different place and each has to have its own copy  of the marriage certificate. 

    If you changed your first name or last name to something else than your spouse's name then it must go through the court and you must show legal proof of name change and a phone bill wouldn't be enough. So it depends what you changed your name to.

    I only changed my last name. I just don't understand how this could have happened because I separately paperclipped all 3 applications together. I will send them another 2 copies of my marriage certificate

    Hi guys,

     

    I was wondering whether someone had the same problem and can tell me how they solved it.

    I received an RFE/RFIE for my I-765 and I-131 today. It states that a review of their records states that my name has changed.

     

    "Please submit evidence of this name change which may include a copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order showing a legal name change was granted"

    I filed everything in my new name and sent 3 original marriage certificates with my application but I assume that those got all clipped to my greencard application as I didn't receive a RFE for that.

     

    It also says " If you have changed your name through the prevailing common low on your state of residence, please provide evidence (such as a state issued drivers license or ID) that you are using your new name exclusively and that it has been officially recognized by your state of residence."

    I tried to get a drivers license or state ID but was told that in Illinois I cannot get one until I have my work permit or greencard. I did change my name on my SSN card. Should I send them a copy of that? And maybe even a copy of my Verizon bill that shows my new name. I just don't have anything else to send them.

    Ich war auch vor etwa 3 Wochen beim Deutschen Konsulat in NYC um meinen neuen Namen "anzumelden" um einen neuen Pass beantragen zu koennen. Gesagt wurden mir 8-10 Wochen. Mal sehen wie lange es wirklich dauern wird.

    Kann ich dich fragen, was du genau zum Konsulat mitgenommen hast? Ich wuerde naemlich auch gerne meinen Namen aendern und einen neuen Pass beantragen. Musstest du dafuer einen Termin machen?

    SSN kannst du direkt ein paar Tage nach deiner Ankunt in den USA beantragen. Du musst nur deinen Pass und dien I-94 vorzeigen. Du solltest es also machen, bevor dein I-94 ablaeuft. Ansonsten musst du naemlich warten, bis dien AOS durch ist

    Mein Ehemann hat in der Schule Deutsch gelernt und dann wieder mit dem Ueben angefangen, als wir uns kennen gelernt haben. Inzischen kann er schon gut Konversationen fuehren und wir reden jeden Tag ein bisschen auf Deutsch. Wir moechten aber auch in ein paar Jahren zusammen nach Deutschland ziehen.

    Thank you. I was trying to find out what Bank of America requires online but couldn't find it. We will try at there if we can't figure out a way to just add me to his existing Chase account.

We added my husband to my Chase accounts (also in Chicago) with no problem at all, before we even filed for his AOS. He did not have a green card OR even a state ID at the time.     I believe we needed one item each from A, B, C, and D, but I know we used our lease for D.

     

    Long story short, we had to wait no time at all to get him on my bank accounts, and had to wait forever to get him an ID.

    I had the exact same paper work with me but they told me they stopped accepting the lease as address prove. This just doesn't make sense to me at all. My husband is trying to add my name to our electricity bill. Hope that will work.

    And thanks for the information about the ID. I guess I will try there without my EAD and hope I don't have to wait.

    Hi guys,

     

    we've been trying to add me to my husbands bank account at Chase but got denied. They said that I need a proof of residency and my passport. For a proof of residency they accept utility bills or a state id. They won't accept our lease. We don't have utility bills under my name cause I don't have a bank account in the US. And I can't get a state id without a utility bill or bank statement. But it's advised to show a joint bank account at the Greencard interview. I feel stuck in a loop where I can't get one without the other. Does anyone know whether different banks have different requirements or what else I could do? We're in Chicago, Illinois and I do have a SSN number.

    Ich versuch immer mehrfach im Jahr dort zu sein, und wollte eigentlich auch nach HH umziehen. Aber dann kam dieser Amerikaner und hat meinen Plan durchkreuzt! :) Aber da er flight engineer ist und so ne Lizenz macht, dass er nach der Army auch an normalen Passagiermaschinen arbeiten kann, UND er Hamburg (respektive Deutschland) gut findet, ist mein Plan noch nicht ganz gestorben :P Finkenwerder Airbus - das kennt er schon! :)

    Vielen Dank! Da wird Scott "happy" sein... der weiß zwar dass AOS kommt, hat aber nicht auf dem Zettel was für ein Aufwand das is! :)

    Hast du mit dem Married Name gefiled? 

    Bisher hat man mir diese Reihenfolge gesagt:

    Einreise
    i94 Aktualisierung abwarten
    SSN auf Mädchenname beantragen
    Hochzeit
    AOS auf Married Name
    SSN auf Married Name ändern

    Kann mir das irgendwer bestätigen? :)

    Ich hab es genau so in dieser Reihenfolge gemacht. Habe jetzt meine SSN im neuen Namen und habe AOS, EAD und AP auch im neuen Namen gefiled. Ist ja die Hochzeitsurkunde dabei. Und im I-485 musst du auch deinen maiden name angeben

    Hast du tatsächlich, wie in deiner liste, manches Evidence doppelt und dreifach mitgeschickt? Marriage license steht bei dir zB mehrmals drin?? ich hab alles nur 1x mitgeschickt.

     

    @TearsOfBabylon ich habe in meinem package übrigens das I-131 vergessen, also das Advance Parole damit mann ausreisen kann bevor man das AOS bekommt. Das Formular ist optional aber ich dachte man kann automatisch wieder ausreisen wenn man das EAD hat....nope. Schicke es heute nach.

    Ja ich hab alles mehrfach geschickt. AOS, EAD und AP werden ja voneinander getrennt prozessiert und da kann mal was verloren gehen. Deswegen hab ich lieber fuer alle drei alles mitgeschickt. Ist vielleicht uebertrieben, aber ich wollte lieber sicher gehen
