BoracayBao reacted to N400NYC in Potential impact of COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic on the citizenship process (and timelines)
It's true that regular flu impacts many people. The huge difference is that there is no vaccine for COVID-19 and because of that the societal response is very different. As such the potential for widespread infection (to rates higher than that for regular flu) is high. Also, the death rate for COVID-19 is much higher than it is for flu. Has a USCIS office ever closed because of a flu outbreak? I doubt it. But the office in SEATTLE closed because one employee tested positive for COVID-19 so that just shows the response to this is going to be very different. An excerpt from the Guardian:

    CORONAVIRUS: FACTS CHECKED

Claim: "It is no more dangerous than winter flu"

"Many individuals who get coronavirus will experience nothing worse than seasonal flu symptoms, but the overall profile of the disease, including its mortality rate, looks more serious. At the start of an outbreak the apparent mortality rate can be an overestimate if a lot of mild cases are being missed. But this week, a WHO expert suggested that this has not been the case with Covid-19. Bruce Aylward, who led an international mission to China to learn about the virus and the country’s response, said the evidence did not suggest that we were only seeing the tip of the iceberg. If borne out by further testing, this could mean that current estimates of a roughly 1% fatality rate are accurate. This would make Covid-19 about 10 times more deadly than seasonal flu, which is estimated to kill between 290,000 and 650,000 people a year globally."

    113 days, but who's counting?
I assumed the worst, thinking I'd be waiting till the end of the year for this, or that my case fell behind a shelf.
But today my case was finally approved!! (technically on February 7th)
It was already a great day, I spent it at a secluded beach near Da Nang, Vietnam, with my fiancée. And then, it was an even better end to the day, by checking my phone and *boom* I get the notification with her sitting right by my side <3

All I can say is just hold tight, good news is on the way for others waiting.

I have a really good feeling Jim's case will be approved this week

I understand where you are coming from, but I think that's taking it way too far. Yes, we can marry anybody we want. But we are not entitled to bring anybody we want into the US. Immigration is a privilege, not a right. No civil rights are being violated (sic).

It sucks to wait and wait and wait, but there's no evidence that any of us are being treated differently or being wronged. I have faith that they're going as fast as they can go with the resources available to them. Are they understaffed? Definitely. But that does not constitute a violation of our rights. As others have noted, we will go through the process and then this will be past us. It's just a matter of waiting either a couple months or a couple more months.

No, you didn't get transferred. You send your petition to the Texas lockbox and they send it to the service centers. Like always, it's CSC.

I'm probably wrong but thinking USCIS could have been requested to finish up any October cases before shipping any to NVC so that NVC can catch up. Last year it was about 7-10 days for NVC to get case from USCIS.

And Advanced maligayang pasko to you both.

Here is what USEM wants. This comes directly from there requirements letter. You do not need three years. They are asking for the most current documents which which be for tax year 2015. Tax transcript is the most ideal form to submit.
EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. Why not get them re-dated? What will it hurt? Just have her scan them and send them to you again with new signatures and dates.
Don't give them any reason to doubt you.

In June, my fiancee mailed me her signed letter of intent to marry and G325-A. Shortly thereafter, we had to postpone the K-1 process, but are ready to apply now. Because both are dated June, should I ask her to send those documents again with a more recent date, or are the documents I already have fine?
