I think you're reading their statement incorrectly. They were responding to my post of "I feel like the better approach would be to stop leechers that are abusing the system than to stop people that need help from getting help."  and he was agreeing with me on who we could get to stop using the system to pay for others that might need it temporarily.

I think that yes you need to prove that you can currently support the partner you bring over. I don't mind providing my income and making sure it's at a sufficient level to support everyone I bring to this country.
That said, if something happens and we both lost our jobs and we need support temperately it'd be nice to be able to use the systems I've been paying into my whole working life.

Of course you’re right. It’s like you pay an insurance premium but if an accident happens the insurance company won’t  cover you.

Don't immigrants that move here and start working pay taxes for the programs that they are not allowed to us?
If they are tax payers then why are they not allowed to use a program they are paying into?

Seems like a bad system that allows one tax payer to receive a benefit another tax payer legally can't use.

I hope this never happens but if you suddenly get sick and your loved one ( that you already sponsored) had to go and ask for public assistance, the Federal government will come after you even while your sick.

Haven’t been on here in a while. I filed my K-1 in 2014, AOS in 2015, had a long delay for ROC from 2017 through 2019, and naturalized in 2019 at which point my ROC was adjudicated simultaneously. But when I heard the news tonight the first thing I thought of was all of you in every conceivable stage of the process. I just wanted to drop by and say I’m sorry and that my heart is with you all. None of this is right, and none of this is fair, and you deserve better. The USA has a responsibility to do better. Sending my love to you all wherever you’re at in the world tonight.

I know we're supposed to be socially distancing, but you're out there somewhere in America further than six feet away from me, so please take this hug. ❤️

We're all in this together, and I'm rooting for you. For all of us.

Well, I have been trying not to get political here but if you're potentially affected by this and you think voting for Trump is a good idea in November, it's like being a turkey voting for Thanksgiving.

As written, the POTUS has the power to exclude entry to any class of immigrant. That said, it also doesn't mean he has no limits whatsoever. He can't say, for instance, only "white" people can come to the US. That would be a pretty clear violation of higher laws. Or a ban based on religion (the travel bans in place today fall under security and was ruled on by SCOTUS already...I don't want to get into the debate of if it's a Muslim ban or not).

The exact limits of his authority are not clearly defined. If he is not violating another law, in theory he can do it.
In practice, if he does try to do anything so broad, I can pretty much guarantee lawsuits all over. And likely with injunctions that last beyond the shutdowns and initial recovery.

Maybe he might break the habit of a lifetime and join me in a glass of wine before tweeting -- it might have the opposite effect on him than the usual wake up and think: oh god, what outrageously stupid thing did I post on social media when I was a little drunky.

We had our GC interview on January 9th at 8.45am.  I got the approval message at 5pm that day and received my Green Card in the mail on January 15th.

My medical was March 6th 2017.  I applied for AOS in September 2017.  I was not asked for a new medical.

FINALLY!!! Congratulations!!!! I am very happy for you both. Set alerts on your phone for 90 days before your green card expires. That's when your window to file the I-751 opens up.

As you may know, there are different types of parole. To expedite, you would call the main USCIS number and explain that you are calling to expedite your advance parole application. I would limit it to "humanitarian reasons". Your daughter's illness. I would then present evidence of that when they request it.

The advance parole you would get via Infopass is Emergency Advance parole. You would bring the I-131 application filled out along with the $575 fee. Again, I would limit the reason to humanitarian reasons - your daughter's illness. The criteria is very specific and your father's birthday/financial hardship do not fall under any of the criteria. Including them would take away credibility from your daughter's illness.

I would start by calling USCIS and placing the request to expedite. You may also enlist the help of your Senator. Both are seeking re-election on November 6th. They will be more than happy to help you - I am sure.

Note: the best time to secure an Infopass appointment is right at midnight. I would enlist the help of your husband and use two computers or several computers and phones. Do not use chrome. Use firefox. I am not sure why it works best, but it does.

    All the best,

These are the instructions for DACA-based AP, not AP obtained due to a pending I-485 application.

I called USCIS and talked with a Tier 1. I asked for the expedite based on financial loss. After 5 days, I received a letter asking for evidence. I sent my job offer letter and a past due bill from internet services. You have a lot of chances of approval, I know many cases that have been approved.

They told me to send it 90-120...I went with 90 since I want my EAD/AP to be valid as long as possible. You would think they handle renewal quicker than original application.
We have been waiting for our green card interview for over a year, so yeah reapplying for what we did is not a top priority and is really a waste of everybody's  time.
So upsetting they force us to go through this again.

Unfortunately this is the Internet, where there is no shortage of "experts" to tell us how stupid we are, etc.  They often run up high post counts with little or no experience in the actual subject.

The best approach is to focus on constructive replies, acknowledge the polite ones, and ignore the rest.

On another note we did get our 180 automatic EAD extensions.  They are wonderful examples of bureaucratese.  I'll parse it in more detail when I have time, but I can see why some authorities (e.g. driver licensing) are reluctant to accept them.
