  1. My wife is currently pregnant and my driver’s license expires tomorrow.  My 18 month extension for my I-751 form expired on February 1st.  I spoke to USCIS who says I’ll receive a call back to schedule an appointment but that she didn’t know if they would give me one, as they are only giving appointments for ‘emergencies’.  So, my question is, is my wife being pregnant enough of an emergency- obviously she needs me to drive her when she’s in labor....? Or do I need an even better emergency?  What has successfully worked so far?

Make an appointment with USCIS and get an I-551 stamp in your passport.  That will be evidence of your status.....even though your status, itself, has not expired.

There are no additional extension letters.

@Lucky Cat thank you.  I called and they said it has to be an ‘emergency’. That they are only granting appointments for emergency reasons.  😬😬😬

  3. Hi,

We filed an I-751 to remove conditions on my green card over a year and a half ago.  My case is waiting to be scheduled for an interview.  Meanwhile, my 18 month extension expired in the beginning of this month and I need to get my driver’s license renewed.  What do I do????? Do I somehow need to get an extension on my 797 receipt or my green card before I can get my license renewed? Help!!

  4. How good (or bad) do you think the chances are of my husband’s mother and sister getting approved to come to the US on Visitor’s Visas from Morocco???  My husband has a Green Card.

    Mother:

    *in her 60’s

*widowed for more than 20 years

    * owns her own apartment

    *doesn’t work

*doesn’t have a lot of money

    Sister:

    *in her late 20’s

*married (husband would stay in Morocco)

*rents an apartment with her husband

*has kept the same job for more than 5 years

I would like to sponsor my mother to apply for a visitor’s visa to come to the US from Morocco. I am in the US on a Green Card- my wife is an American citizen.

Last year, we had very little income, as we were in the process of starting a business. We just made our first money from it a month ago and will be well over the poverty line for this tax year. I also have a second job as a coach, since last Sept. I had $7000 of reportable wages from it last year and will have around $20k this year.

Is there a way for me to prove my income this year, before I do my taxes? And will this be sufficient to the gov’t to prove we are financially able to take care of my mother while she is in the states?
  6. Well, it's been some time since I've last asked anything here :)

My husband entered the US on the K1 visa in Dec. 2016 and we applied for AOS in the end of Feb.  He had his biometrics appt in the middle of March.  Since then, our USCIS status just says 'Fingerprint Fee Received'. (service center is Philadelphia, PA)

What should I make of this?  Is this a long time to be stuck on this status?

My fiance (also in Morocco) just did the medical last week and now it's the countdown until the interview on July 10th. Our NOA2 was May 5, so things really do happen much quicker after that long NOA2 wait!

Good luck to you guys and @Faye Faye!  If you have any questions, my husband and I did the K1 process not long ago and he is also from Morocco :)

  8. You can enter from anywhere.  When he gets up to Customs, he will hand over the sealed envelope of documents he will have with him (make sure it's packed in his carry-on and not his checked bag!!), then the CO may ask him a few questions and/or send him to an office.  They will ask some more questions there- but nothing major (if he passed the interview in his home country he should have no problem passing these few easy questions!). After that, he'll be on his way!

God forbid I get a denial but if I do get one, can it affect my k1 filing/interview stage

We also tried for a tourist visa before the K1 and were denied.  It's not an issue for the K1 (we were approved), as long as you can explain at the interview about why you wanted a tourist visa ( to visit your fiancé'a mother is fine).

For the tourist visa, it can be hard.  You have to show strong ties and they will most likely reject you bc you have a fiancé.  They will tell you that you are applying for the wrong type of visa and to go for the K1 (at least that was our experience)

    Good luck with everything!

  10. I had a similar situation- got divorced and then it had to be reopened (so it was like legally we were still married, even though I had a divorce decree) and then it eventually got shut again, but within a span of 2 years....  my fiancé and I filed the paperwork literally 2 days after receiving the 2nd divorce decree.  We had no issues and were approved!  Like everything else, just have proof and make sure your fiancé can explain, if need be and you will be fine!

  11. I agree with above. Ours was updated a few times, but for the 1st week it just said 'Ready'. Then AP for 2 days and then Issued. It's of course stressful, but after just having gone through this, I can say that you can probably rest assured that everything is fine :)

Not sure if it's the same there, but for us, they kept my fiance's passport and we had to track it on the courier's website until we knew it was delivered, which we were able to do once it said 'Issued' on the CEAC website.

  12. Hi everyone,

We're antsy to get the visa and make arrangements after my fiance's interview! He was approved on the spot (11/4/16) and since then we have been checking the CEAC website and also the USTravelDocs website.

On 11/10, the status on CEAC was changed to 'Issued' and since yesterday the status on USTravelDocs has been "Your passport is still with the US Embassy or Consulate"

Can anyone tell me when we can expect the visa to be ready to be picked up??

    Thank you!
