  1. Why would you age out if your parent petitioned you? or do you mean that you were listed as a derivative on a parent’s petition?
  2. You both live in Canada, but not together? That will raise questions.
  3. AFAIK, USCIS does not publish that type of internal data. I’d ask the ‘someone’ to cite their source.
  4. Yes, that range of wait times is normal. There are so many factors that impact it- consulate, quality of your documentation, etc. Hopefully not too much longer.
  5. Not sure why you think it will take “a few months” to get a US passport…..I sent my packet on 11/12, and had my new passport back before Thanksgiving. Official processing time when I checked was 2-4 weeks. This was not expedited.
  6. It is not a bad thing. All forms/applications for DOS and USCIS are adjudicated. It just means that someone looks at them and all the supporting documentation, and evaluates the content in the context of the relevant law. Good luck with your case.
  7. You are coming across as quite entitled. Legal immigration involves planning and waiting. Most of us here have had to do loads of planning and waiting in our journeys. No one else is more special than the next person.
  8. That is immigration fraud. She needs a proper immigrant visa, just like everyone else. Waiting your turn in queues is just part of US immigration.
  9. OP wouldn’t be eligible to file today, as they have not met.
  10. The petitioner can request, in writing, to withdraw the petition. There are no refunds.
  11. That is not permitted under the conditions of the visa he will need. It’s a family reunification visa, which allows one to bring over a child. (Not a grandchild). Your son will have to move to the US if he wants to bring a child here.
  12. Did your fiance have a previous nonimmigrant visa application? All you can really do is hope they reschedule. And did you not bring a print out of the appt confirmation? Or- you did, and it did not match?
  13. That’s why he cannot adjust status/interview in the US.
  14. Why did she need a second interview?
  15. Your feelings about the application of the law won't be considered in this case. And USCIS/DOS has access to all records, even expunged ones. You may be best off getting a lawyer to help with your case.
  16. They are not there to help with the process. The expectation is that you hire help, or do the reading and researching yourself. All of the forms have clear instructions and the fees are clearly printed.
  17. OP, historical processing times have varied widely. Our AOS in 2018/19 (straightforward also) took like 13 months with an interview. ROC took 18 months, no interview. There were people here on VJ with timelines similar to ours who had much shorter and much longer wait times. There is not always rhyme or reason, and the local field office greatly impacts it. Like others are saying, start reading and following the threads here on VJ that align with your timeline. The more you read and research, the more likely you are to be successful with US immigration.
  18. OP, be aware that the plan is to eliminate this visa category. Who knows if it will happen, but it's a strong possibility.
  19. No. As it will likely be close to 25-30 years before he can immigrate, all his info will be updated then. Kids most likely will age out.
  20. Pictures of family members meeting in person will not satisfy that requirement. It’s not evidence that you met.
  21. Thanks for the update. Definitely attend, and you may find when you get there that it was scheduled in error.
  22. Thanks for commenting! The USCIS processing times for N-400 at Seattle now say 6 months for 80% of applications. Having waited 18 months for I-751 and 13 months or so for AOS from K-1, we’d be thrilled with that! When I first joined VJ in 2016, Seattle processing times were up to 2-3 years, so there’s been progress!
