  1. I understand what you all are saying.  However, in the I-129f form, it says specifically have ever violated a law then it says exclude traffic citations with fines less than $500).  So, I am thinking if there is a citation with a fine of a $100, then we answer the question "no".

Yes it is on the record, No we are not hiding it, but there question is specifically saying ignore traffic violations that are 500 dollars or less.

Am I correct with this chain of thought?

Which country was this in? Some countries would treat driving without insurance as a criminal offence and then yes, it absolutely must be mentioned.

The American citizen is my friend here, who plans to apply for the fiancé.  It happened here in the US. You think this is not "a traffic violation"?  I understand it is criminal but speeding is criminal too and I think it says in the inistructions that anything traffic for less than $500 fine is excluded. What do you think?

  3. Hi, this question is for a friend of mine who intends to get engaged and file for I-129f.

She is in her 40's right now, and she had a problem with not having insurance while driving when she was so young and immature. She thinks she was around 18 (does not remember if she was younger or older than 18). She is doing very well at this point and has a very good stable job.   She barely recalls that she had to pay a fine for this matter.  She does not remember if she was arrested because of this issue (possible?).

Could this have any impact on her application?  Or would they view this as that she was young and immature? Should she mention it in the petition? What if she was arrested at the time for this issue for less than a day or something until she saw the judge the next day to pay the fine?

As stated above married takes longer. Probably best to familiarize yourself with the visa bulletin.

Do you know how much longer? What  is the estimated time difference between the two categories?

Yes, you can have as many immigrant visa applications in the system as you’re eligible for.

Is the beneficiary married? That makes a difference for the child of citizen timing. No difference for the sibling visa

One beneficiary is divorced with kids.  The other one is married with kids.  What is the difference, if I may ask?

  6. Hello everyone, I hope everyone is well.

We have a situation where the mother (who is an american citizen) is a senior (+81 years old). We also have siblings who are younger and US citizens.  The prospective immigrant is about 40 years old with two children of her own. We know it is probably quicker to get sponsored by a parent than by a sibling.  But, what happens if we put in two applications... one is put in by mother and one is put in by sister?  Does USCIS process both and whichever gets approved first would be the one we go with? Would they cancel each other? Is that OK to do ?

The reason for my question is that there is a worry that we apply through the parent (mother) who is older and may pass away while waiting for approval.  We don't want to re-start the waiting clock... The idea was that we apply with both hoping that if immigrant's mother passes away, then we may still use the sibling's application.  But, if the mother stays alive, then it would be the quicker route for the potential immigrant. Any thoughts?

  7. I am going to update the previous reply so that it is representing some new changes in order to keep the picture all together for Charleston, SC locator 34 processing center. For the other applicants at other processing centers: please note that Charleston's processing center is one of the slowest processing centers, especially with the routine applications, so please be careful as you compare it to your own processing center at some other location or as you draw any conclusions.

Here are a few timelines with locator 34 in Charleston, SC and hopefully that will give you some idea of how long it is taking for approval at that location these days. I am providing the day of the application at USPS/library/county office and the day in which approval was indicated (if any). I am also including whether the application was expedited or routine service. All the approved applicants received their passports within 3 business days post approval date.

    ROUTINE APPLICANTS:

Applicant 1)   Applicant applied on 4/2/21 at USPS --- Routine service --> approved 12 weeks later (June 25).

Applicant 2)  Applicant applied on 4/2/21 at USPS -- Routine Service --> approved 11 weeks later (June 18).
Applicant 3)  Applicant applied on 6/21/21 at a County/Library office -- Routine Service --> Approved  10 weeks and 5 days later, or approximately 11 weeks later on (September 4th).
Applicant 4) Applicant applied on 6/28/21 at City hall -- Routine Service --> Approved 11 weeks + 4 days later on (September 17th).
Applicant 5)  Applicant applied on 6/29/21 at USPS -- Routine Service --> Approved 11 weeks + 2 days later on (September 16th).
Applicant 6)  Applicant applied on 7/6/21 at USPS -- Routine Service -->  Approved 11 weeks + 2 days later on (September 23rd).

All applications in the routine service were approved as predicted, which took about 11-12 weeks after submitting applications at county/city halls or at USPS office.

    EXPEDITED APPLICANTS:
Applicant 7)  Applicant applied on 6/10/21 at USPS -- Expedited Service --> Approved 4 weeks + 1 day later (July 9).

Applicant 8 )  Applicant applied on 8/17/21 at USPS -- Expedited Service --> Approved  exactly 5 weeks later (September 21st).

Applicant 9) Applicant applied on 8/21/21 at USPS -- Expedited service --> Approved 3 weeks + 6 days later, almost 4 weeks, on (September 17th).
Applicant 10) Applicant applied on 8/23/21 at USPS -- Expedited service --> Approved 4 weeks + 3 days later (September 21st)

All applications in the expedited service were approved as predicted, which took about 4-5 weeks after submitting applications at county/city halls or at USPS office.

Is it a problem if the citizenship certificate is not signed by the applicant before the passport application is sent? Will they send it back?

The answer is no they did not send it back. We got the passport with absolutely no issues and without any concerns or problems! The signature was left blank on the certificate.

It's dumb.  Informed delivery worked for us for years and then stopped one day.  It just says my address isn't supported now.  lol

Now, that's tough to fix!  Maybe when they sent confirmation mail to make sure it was you at this address, maybe you never got that mail... and they thought it was not supported for that reason. Who knows...

Thanks - I am already looking at tickets and hope to get out of the city by this Friday.  My wife is ecstatic about it - she finally feels like an "American" now.  lol

You may want to sign in or get on "Informed Delivery" through the USPS (Postal Services) website.  It will show up on there as a package coming from Passport Services with the tracking information and an estimate of delivery date.

Enjoy your trip with your wife...

Really wierd.  Mine went from Approved to shipped --> then approved again.  No tracking number or shipping notice.  :(

Why are they teasing me?  I'm hoping it will be here by Wednesday since I paid for extra shipping.  Just showing approved though, beforehand it had a tracking that just said "label created."

That is not weird.  It is actually within their normal patterns and routine.  They are not teasing you and I think it happens to so many people.  I expect it to be there by Tuesday (not Wednesday) depending on where you live and would not be surprised if it gets there by potentially Monday.  It is not because you paid extra.  I think that's the pattern and that's normal for them for many people (paid extra or didn't pay extra).

We are planning to leave the same weekend my wife's passport arrives.  It's torture for us.   Need to get the hell out of NY for a while.

Locator 34 is the worst... Some people have been waiting for months... terrible service when it comes to their speed of processing!

tu2008: I think it really depends on your own representative. Some of them do ask of you to provide proof of travel plans while others do not ask for anything. Most of what I have seen at least on this website that they usually do ask of a proof of plans. It makes their job easier with the agency. I hope that helps!

There's a list somewhere in the thread but I don't recall which page it was on. But here it is and another one I found elsewhere:

Chaleston is one of the "slower" processing centers. Just some heads up!
