Same with me.  I called in and the automated service said it was not recognized.  After doing a bit more research, it's probably like what you said, and IT error.

CanidaeLycaon reacted to anniedanielle in 'Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview'? Please help!
    Hey!
So... I have a few questions, and I would appreciate it soooo much if I could get some help here!
We started my K1 visa process back in December 2016, received my K1 visa with no problems in May 2017. Came over, got married in June 2017 and then sent off for my AOS in September. Ended up getting an RFE after my bio appointment, and sent the info back off (an affadavit of support) which they received November 17, 2017. Today, my case changed from 'RFE evidence received' to 'Case ready to be scheduled for interview' however I still haven't received my EAD. My field office is Kansas City, MO. I'm just curious...
    1. Is this a good or bad thing? I know that not everyone is required for an interview.
    2. How long will this take? The processing times don't really make much sense to me when I'm reading the table.
    3. What should I be prepared for?
    4. What should I take with me, documents wise? Will my husband have to be in the interview with me?
    5. Could my EAD still be approved before my interview?

Anything would help me greatly right now! I know I haven't been active recently but when I have been you guys and this site help me so much, thank you!!

CanidaeLycaon reacted to SteveE in Alien Number Changed??
I originally started the process of AOS in 1988 via marriage and was given an Alien Registration #. We separated and divorced before two years was up and never filed to have the conditions removed. I applied for AOS again in January of this year with my current wife and included the Alien Registration # wherever it was asked for on the forms.

My AOS was approved in June and my Alien registration did not change throughout the process. My 10 year green card has the same Alien Registration # on it that was assigned to me in 1988.
My name has not changed‚ so I don't know if that has any impact.

Carrying that much cash is just too risky. If he does, he has to declare it to US Customs. Then he has a pocketful of ££ that he will have fees to deposit and may pay bank rates.

Try Transferwise https://transferwise.com/us/ for a safer option with less fees and better exchange rate.
Many UK people on here recommended it so I used it. Flawless and quick.

    Hello All,

The Interview Process for Fiance Visas - US Embassy London - What to expect from the interview part, excluding waiting for the interview, medical, etc.

For those of you that have been through the interview at this place, and don't mind sharing, I have the following questions:

How long does the interview part typically take? Did they ask for more evidence at the interview? If so, how did that play out? What type of questions were asked? etc
    Best Regards

1 and 2: It's only the foreigner who adjust status, this isn't the US citizen's application for obvious reasons. The only part that the US citizen is involved in is the i-864.

    3. Just send a copy of the DS-3025 (vaccination work sheet that she got at the medical) if marked "complete".

4: i-765 and i-131 are separare applications but you send them together with the i-485 package, just separate them with a paper clip. You need two passport photos for each application, copies of passport, visa, entry stamps, i-94 and so on. Some say it's not necessary but rather do too much than too little to be on the safe side. When I got married I had a name change so I sent a copy of my marriage certificate with each application as well, as proof of name change.

5: Depends on your employment situation. If you're self-employed or not. If not self employed you usually send W2, tax transcript, pay stubs and letter from employer.

I would absolutely concur on the country specific element.  Really once you have your NOA2 it is hugely advisable to search the country specific boards here on VJ. I used the London K1 boards for information about the interview and medical.

Up to receiving the NOA2, this is the best place for November filers - after that - do google the information you require - because in alomst 100% of cases someone has answered your question on another thread.

As an example - @KimchiLumpia has said to wait for the letter from the embassy/consulate before scheduling the medical/interview - In the UK this was not necessary.  If you have researched well enough and followed the K1 guidelines on VJ - (which are extensive and very useful and take you step by step through the requirements - search for them if you haven't used them yet) - you can schedule the medical with just the case number and you might be able to schedule the interview before the letter arrives (although you will need it for the interview).

Almost every question you could ask here after your NOA2 has an answer somewhere on VJ.  There are boards for many countries and even if they aren't active now, they will have information from previous users.

READ and GOOGLE - someone else has already been through what you are going through.  And they have posted about it on VJ.

CanidaeLycaon reacted to Rippy88 in I-134 Question 38 - Contributions
Hey DebbieWen, I just recently got my NOA2 Approval and now in the process of preparing documents for the next step, including the I-134a. It is confusing, but I think I can help with the research I've done and things I've read from the USCIS website. On the USCIS website, you can view the PDF Instruction file for I-134a. I will copy and paste a line from it regarding your question.

"Answer all questions fully and accurately. If a question does not apply to you (for example, if you have never been married and the question asks “Provide the name of your current spouse”), type or print “N/A,” unless otherwise directed. If your answer to a question which requires a numeric response is zero or none (for example, “How many children do you have” or “How many times have you departed the United States”), type or print “None,” unless otherwise directed."

This is a bit different from the I-129F, as if you look at the instructions for that form, it says to leave the space blank.

Also, if you notice it says, "Answer all questions fully and accurately". BUT, the example they give "Provide the name of your current spouse" type or print N/A. Their example isn't a question! It's a statement. The form contains questions AND statements throughout, but they obviously consider every line a question. Therefore, DebbieWen, I will be either putting "NA" for non-numeric lines and "None" for the questions that require a numeric response.

I have no dependents either, so for me, 10.a through 25 will be "NA" or "None" , 26a-29 will be filled in as it should. And 30.a through 37 will be "NA" or "None"

I hope this helped you! The above Q&A really helped me with that confusing question 38! Good luck!

Hi Everyone, just a quick update for us.  As you know we received electronic notification of our NOA2 on 2nd March.  We received notification in the mail from USCIS on 6th March.  I have decided to call NVC once a week to check if they have received it or if we have a case number.  I called them today 10th March, but they haven't received it yet.  No stress, will try again next week

I just remembered that some people in this thread have been asking about a letter from the NVC.  I talked to a very friendly and helpful NVC employee tonight.  He said, "Just to let you know, a lot of people have been calling to ask about letters from the NVC.  You will not get anything from us.  We don't do that anymore.  Your next communication will be from the US embassy in Montreal."  So, if you have been wondering about a letter/calling to ask about a letter/thinking of calling to ask about a letter, apparently they no longer send them.

Quick Nov. 14 filer update here. I know it's different country to country, and the UK has a pretty fast turn around time right now after NOA-2. But my partner has been able to successfully schedule her medical and interview! Our basic process:

    I-129F received Nov. 14 to NOA-2: 83 days
    NOA-2 to NVC: 14 days
NVC to Embassy (date we were able to schedule): 10 days
Medical: Two weeks following receipt of NVC number, could have chosen earlier date.
Interview: 27 days after embassy received case, though we could have chosen one available date two weeks earlier and we declined so that I can attend the interview with her on a previously scheduled vacation to England!

I hope others from Nov. still waiting for NOA-2 are reassured at all by this timeline, at least NOA-2 to NVC to embassy. I know Canada, for example, takes a LOT longer. But maybe this will be helpful for some folks. Good luck all!

Edited to add: I began stalking this forum post back in mid December, about a month after filing our petition. Feels good and very cathartic to be posting from the other side. You will ALL get there!

Update on our process post NOA2

our NOA2 date was 30th January
NVC case number issued (by phone) 16th February (16 days) - booked medical
Case status set to 'ready' 22nd January
Packet 3 recieved (letter from embassy) 3rd March - all paperwork already submitted (DS-160, readiness) - and other paperwork in hand for interview (i-134 etc)
    interview booked online 4th March

    Medical - 6th March
    Interview 17th March

    45 days NOA2 to interview

So even if you are still hanging on for your NOA2 - it could all go really quickly after that!  If you have all your other paperwork ready you could be lucky and get an early date.

I booked a return flight because it was approximately $1000 cheaper than a single. I didn't cancel the return as there was no way of doing it online (codeshare) so I just didn't show up for the flight. POE neither know nor care about whether you have a single or return if you're entering on an immigration visa. They can ask you, of course, but they'd have to confirm it with the airline (if they were really bothered), they don't have this information to hand or anything (source: previous interaction in Secondary once upon a time). They didn't ask me anything in Secondary, I just waited for a few minutes and then they handed my passport back and said I was all done.

Just get the cheapest flight. And if you have to have a connection within the US, give yourself plenty of time between flights. You probably won't need it but it would be nice not to worry about missing your next flight.

Good of luck and enjoy the journey. It's a little nervewracking but at the same time very exciting

Tax transcripts are the official IRS record of what was received and was processed. Tax returns are what you submit to the IRS. There's no way for a third party (i.e. USCIS or COs) to verify that a tax return you give them was actually submitted to or accepted by the IRS. It could just be a filled-out form that you never actually sent. A tax transcript has an extra aura of validity since it's a record from a government agency. W2s are what you get at the end of the year from an employer that states what you made, what taxes were withheld from your pay, etc.

For the I-134, the minimum documentation is noted here:
    https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-134instr.pdf (Page 3)
    http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/fiance-marriage-visa-book/chapter5-17.html

As for which one to submit, the tax transcripts are preferred. There's no harm in including the W2s with them as well. Sending the last 3 years is ideal, but only the past year's transcript (2015) is technically required. You may use the 2016 transcript if it was submitted already, albeit I think there's a several week lag time from initial filing to first availability, so 2016 transcripts may not be available yet for most people. If you can't get the transcripts in time, then you can use the returns but be sure to include the W2s and any other relevant documents supporting it (i.e. you don't want them to question if it is accurate or not). COs aren't tax professionals so don't expect them to comb through returns or transcripts, but they know how to look at the basics to determine your financial capability.
