  4. Who would allow an unlimited number of complete strangers to just enter your home unannounced without permission, to set up housekeeping, and to expect you to pay for their food, lodging, health care, clothes, etc.? The homeowner is then in competition with the intruder for use of the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, etc. It just doesn't make sense to allow illegals to stay, imho. Do they not compete with citizens and legal residents for jobs, groceries, emergency rooms, etc? Looks like the question "when is enough....enough ?" has been answered by the 2024 election. Common sense has returned.
  5. In what country do you live?
  6. How much time have you spent together (actually)? Yes, that will be important to the final outcome.
  7. Stop listening to that source. There is no requirement for that.
  8. Do you have bank accounts and/or assets outside the US? If so, you possible need to file an FBAR with the Department of the Treasury. Then, filing jointly certainly makes sense.
  9. 2 duplicate threads removed. Please do not repeat questions or threads in different forums.
  10. You can, yes....but should you? Even if you didn't have a Green Card, you could choose to be treated as a tax resident for the full year.
  11. There are many variables which determine if: 1. If You could file as a non-resident and a resident (dual status alien) 2. If You SHOULD file as a dual status resident. Variables include: Do you pass the substantial presence test? how much income the new resident earned prior to coming to the US, foreign income exclusions, tax agreements between the US and new immigrant's home country, FBAR, etc. Having said all that I always advise new immigrants to seek the help of a good tax pro the 1st year in the US.
  12. You should go ahead and change your address via an AR-11. You can do it online. Sponsors/petitioners must also report change of address via an I-865 by mail only. I have not seen a single case of a person having issues due to failure to report change in address....But I would do it immediately.
  13. White House press sec said on X: ".....If you illegally enter the United States of America, you will face severe consequences." Notice, she didn't say "and commit crimes"....
  14. I have read that is the very reason a person holding a C1/D can not stay and adjust status. You need an attorney.
  15. Agree. Now is not the time to stay inside the US while "out of status".
  16. Generally, I don't think he can adjust status from that visa. You need a good attorney.
  17. That is great. A lot pf people don't have that kind of discipline.
  18. ***Moved to the Adjustment of Status forum area***
  19. You posted this under Tourist Visas (which is not related to USCIS Service Centers). For what visa category will the I-130 be submitted?
  20. Online filings still go to one of the USCIS Service Centers.
  21. @Loren Y is the expert on Vegas weddings. For immigration, follow this guide for marrying and adjusting status.
  22. ***Topic moved from CR-1/IR-1 spousal visa forum to Adjustment of Status From Work, Student, and Tourist Visas***
  23. No. The date on that document has multiple ramifications. I would wait until you can send them an accurate document.
