Are you full time? I don't believe they can fire you under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). You should be allowed force majeure when you took your daughter to urgent care. Force majeure is taken if you have an immediate emergency to take care of a family member and you have no one else to take care of it. The best thing is to check with your employer about their policy before assuming they would fire you for taking care of your injured daughter.

FMLA is usually granted after 1 year of being an employee. Not everyone is eligible for it.

It actually depends on the consulate. Go to https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview/prepare.html and select your country's file from the drop down in Step 2. That will tell you whether or not you have to register on the website prior to your interview.

You can start working without your SSN in hand, but you can't be paid until you provide your employer with your SSN. They may ask for proof that you've applied for your SSN after you're hired if you don't have it, yet. Harpa's right. You should never have to provide it before you're given a job offer and filling out the paperwork.

My husband just did his medical there last week. They'll give you your vaccinations. When my husband called ahead to let them know he needed them, the nurse said they were no extra charge and are included in the total EUR395. He had an 8:00 AM appointment and was done with everything within 30 minutes.

Domicile is a legal term that doesn't really have to do with residency. Since you've only been gone for 18 months, you could easily still claim US domicile without having to prove you want to reestablish it. You'll pretty much always be US domicile unless you intend to live in another country indefinitely, and you have to go out of your way to prove that your intention is to change from your US domicile.

When they finally do go to issue the visa, the requirements say that your passport must not expire within 6 months at the time of issue.
