I am wondering if MSC is starting to issue the GC without interview? I got approved on March 14 even though it stated my case was ready for interview. I did call them over a month before asking for the status. Maybe calling them flagged the case and they decided to approve it.

It is hard to believe that would have caused the approval being over a month since I called, but who knows. All I know is it as approved just one month before 2 years. I originally filed in April 2021.

I was a bit shocked to be approved given that that MSC is a shoe in for an interview. Anyway, just wanted to update and find if there are similar MSC folk now experiencing approval without interview.

Ours was approved from there with no interview! My husbands receipt date was march 2019. We contacted our states immigration congressman and they inquired about our case and the next week I checked and it said case was approved. I think they are waiving interviews sometimes!

if u didn't sign a release form for Congressman to get status updates  of the case ,  then no he/she did nothing

they need to see your ID and have u sign a release form

    Don't

what is he becomes a USC and wants to apply for a family member

u need some of that info/  espeially dates are hard to remember

they emailed us the release form and we sent that back signed along with copy’s of any notices we received. Even if they didn’t do anything it doesn’t matter to me since it got approved. Just thought it might be an option for other people just in case it did help.

We don’t really have any plans of him becoming a USC, as of now the pros do not outweigh the cons for us. No family of his is going to come here 😂

I think its way past time for you to start raising a flag.

They are giving 48 month extensions due to "backlog" but, in my opinion,  that amount of time is based on conservatism where 48 months is worst case scenario.

So yeah......if you haven't already done so, you need start getting aggressive with them to find out what's taking so long.

Right! Every time we’ve called they brush us off and say it’s within the time blah blah. To me our case seems so damn cut and dry that I cannot imagine someone wouldn’t look at it and just approve it to get it out of the way! i know it’s probably not how that works. I did. just send over documents so our state congressman can send over an inquiry. Curious to see what comes of that.

Hi all. An update on our case status. We just received an email for an inquiry we didn't. Here is what it stated.

Thank you for contacting USCIS concerning the above-referenced application. Below is a summary of what we have found and how the issue has been resolved or additional actions required.

Your application is currently being processed. Please know that the wait times you are experiencing for this application type are normal for our office at the moment.  At this time, no further action is required from you. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any completion date at this time. We apologize for the delay.

Please be advised that posted processing times are goals based on Field Office averages.  These goals are subject to change and can vary from office to office.  We apologize for any inconvenience caused by delays in processing.

This is really annoying. First off we didn't file the 751 on 3/21/17. That was the day the 130 was approved. Point of Entry was May, 2017 and we filed 751 as required in April  19 so there is something not right with that. That would be close to 6 years for waiting to remove conditions. I swear these people are full of all kinds of that bullskit.

One thing that is different is that this particular response is that it came from the local field office in Minneapolis and not from the office at the NBC. Don't know what that implies but I hope in means the file has finally been transfered to our local office. We shall see...

We have similar time lines, in june it will have been 48 months for us. Our local field office is also minneapolis and i have read somewhere they are literally one of, if not thee slowest office. It is so annoying!! I just emailed the wisconsin immigration congressman and once i sent them back a signed privacy thing, they are going to inquire about my husbands application.

Been waiting since October 2019. We just got my husband’s 48 month extension in the mail two days ago. :(

I reached out to my congressman’s office last month and they indicated the case was being considered for a waiver but still no updates. It’s crazy how our spouse can live in the states for 5 years and still not hold a 10 year green card. What in the world is happening with this administration!

Im wondering too what congressman to contact? My husband has been waiting for an interview since 2019 also. And just got the 48 extension slap in the face today 😂

I did get an Approval Letter but it was after I found out my case was approved online. They updated the status to ”Case Approved” and sent the letter on the same day. I think it could be the 48 month letter too.

Dang it, i was being too hopeful! I think it is the 48 extension.. which is then pointless for us 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

  7. 1 minute ago, Crazy Cat said:

Yep.  The 48 month extension letter would be almost useless in your case.  I can't think of anything else which would come from NBC.  We were in the same situation until my wife filed her N-400.  Her I-751 had been "Case is Ready to be scheduled for an interview" since May 2019.

Right, i thought after 3 years it would be at our local field office by now! I dont understand our govenment 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Just received my 10-year Green card today. Here is the timeline of my case:

    02/01/2021     Case Received by USCIS

    03/08/2021     I-797 NOA Letter Received

    08/27/2021     Biometric Appointment Done

11/10/2021     Case Ready To Be Scheduled For Interview

    12/13/2021     24 Month Letter Received

01/24/2023     Called USCIS For I-551 Stamp

01/25/2023     Missed 1st Attempt Call (They left voice message saying they will call me again, but I didn’t get any calls from them since then.)

02/18/2023     New Card Is Being Produced

    02/21/2023     Case Approval Notice Sent

02/24/2023     Card Was Mailed to Me

02/25/2023     Card Was Delivered/48 Month Letter Delivered too

    Field Office: Orlando

    Receipt Number Starts With MSC

Seems like interview waiving is happening. I’m not sure if me calling them to request the stamp has anything to do with triggering the process moving forward or not. I do find it a bit strange that they sent me the 48 month letter at same time with green card.
Waiting for sure gets frustrating sometimes. I hope this helps a little bit and gives whoever in the same situation some hope.

Did you get an approval letter before you found out online you were approved? My hubs has been ready to schedule interview since 2019 and in our mail app i see hes getting a letter from NBC today. Thats the first contact weve had since his original extension letter.

Does he qualify for "retention permit"? The laws in Germany appear to be changing for the better, allowing to keep German citizenship when naturalizing elsewhere.

    https://www.germany.info/us-de/service/staatsangehoerigkeit/beibehaltung-der-deutschen-staatsangehoerigkeit/1216762

Unfortunately no! He said he’s looked into it but since he can’t prove that it’s necessary for his job or security clearance or something, than he can’t do it. He said Germany doesn’t make it easy to keep both. 😂 so I suppose I will keep collecting junk for proof.

Are you absolutely sure his country of origin requires him to give up his citizenship? Most countries are OK with multiple citizenships, and USA doesn't require to give to any citizenships for sure. In addition, some countries which do not allow dual citizenship in their constitution do not have clear laws explaining how to implement it, do not have any fines or penalties and never in reality enforce it. Do not take it as legal advice, of course. Follow all the laws in all the countries of citizenship.

    What country is he from?

He’s from Germany so our kids are dual citizens but from what we found he would have to give his up to become a us citizen.

I can offer some faint hope. Based on the ratio of N-400 approvals to new applications, it won’t surprise me if the N-400 backlog goes to zero in 6 months. At that point USCIS could deploy resources to I-751.  I am not predicting it will.

Some field offices are processing N-400 cases 4 times faster than before the pandemic. And if you get an office with same day or even same week oath: wow.

Some offices are doing over 10,000 cases every 3 months.  That means on a given work day they aren’t doing anything else but N-400s.

I just don’t understand it! We’re not going to file that for him so they just push us to the side I guess. In reality waiting isn’t harming anything but it’s more annoying. Thank you for your input!

I know the feeling.  But you will need marital evidence until the I-751 interview.  Our interviewer wanted to see evidence from the date we filed the I-751 until interview date.

Darn it, we shall wait some more than! He doesn’t want to give up his citizenship and i absolutely support it. So saving junk and hoping I have enough is what I shall do 😂. We have three kids 4 and under so this shall be fun.

  13. On 1/10/2023 at 10:52 AM, Mike E said:

Yes there are people who have been waiting this long. @Crazy Cat for example. Their journey ended when they filed N-400.

The problem is people like me (filed 2021, approved 2022) are jumping ahead of the queue of people like you. This is wrong and you should not tolerate it.

If you don’t want to wait then writ

of mandamus / Administrative Procedures  Act lawsuits should get you approved. It’s cheaper for USCIS to approve and/or schedule an interview, than it is to fight these cases.

Oh thank you! I’ll have to look into that. I hadn’t heard of it before.

  14. Hey! We filed to remove my husbands conditions in march 2019.. since August 2019 we are stalled at ‘ready to schedule interview’. He got the passport stamp last year before we traveled which he needs a new one for his new passport. Anyways, is anyone else waiting this long? We’re not interested in filing for citizenship even if it speeds things up. Getting really sick of saving a bunch of junk for our marriage proof folder 😝

If I were you I would start acting now. Nobody waits such a long time. Who's idea was that first you need to wait max time for Potomac,Texas,Vermont etc. after that you need to do the unknown time waiting for NBC center and after that you wait like 40 months for a local office? USCIS  playing you big time. (And me too, I submitted outside normal processing times form few days ago).

IT'S unfair that we see approvals of people from 2020 who sometimes wait only 8/9 months. All service centers processing time is misleading. What does it even mean ? How can you bundle together all the cities? That's so ridiculous and I remember even Ombudsman in their report mentioned that that's wrong.

True. I know I put in a request a while ago about it and they never even contacted us back. It’s such a joke. On one hand it’s whatever because it hasn’t effected my husband having an expired green card and we haven’t been able to travel recently but at the same time it’s just annoying because, like you said, people are getting approved way before us. I’m sick of saving everything that I could use as evidence of our legitimate marriage 😂. I will put in a request for being outside the wait time for sure now. And apparently our local office is one of the worst for waiting.

  16. 29 minutes ago, Rosa Garcia said:

Did you file outside of processing times firm or contacted Ombudsman?  You have been waiting for 2 years and 6 months! :(

We haven’t filed outside of processing times yet because according to the website we are like 17 days away from being able to! If I click all service centers we are technically not outside the time yet.
