I visited only once for about 10 days. Very smooth interview from what he said...and this was Nigeria!

I can only speak for my experience. I had the same exact situation. We met online and after over 6 months of long distance I visited Nigeria (the 7th month after meeting)...and met him in person for the first time. I also stayed 10 days and began the k1 process upon my return. He is now here in the U.S. with me and is my husband. Currently work permit and green card is pending.

That's my personal experience. I was also advised to visit more than once but as a single parent at the time I just couldn't afford to. There was definitely a lot of praying and trusting God.

Take lots of pics on different days and places of you 2 together and with family while there.  My husband said that his interview was very smooth and quick with just a few questions but there were others that he witnessed get rejected (though they may not have been k1s).

I also advise that you are extremely detailed with sending a complete packet once you apply for the K-1. Send chats, pics, as much proof as possible...even you interactions on social media. Make sure your fiance knows things like birthdays, prior marriage info (if applicable). If he has traveled before make sure all of that info is clean as well.

Most of all....go on your trip and ENJOY the experience of meeting your fiance and planning your life together. This process is already stressful enough so enjoy the meaningful times.

    Best wishes!

Long road ahead to get the rest of the process done; working, and driver's license but we've made it this far! He's here and next is becoming Mrs.!

Yes, K-1 visas are NON-Immigrant, however, they have immigrant intent. It's also called a hybrid visa, the beneficiary comes as non-immigrant and then adjust status as immigrant with permanent residency.

Thank you. It was not the U.S. or a U.S. territory so that's promising! We are discussing interview questions to be best prepared...and that's what I told him...just be honest.
The RFE was for his letter of intent and proof of meeting within 2 years. I found VJ after submitting my k1 app so by the time RFE came I realized we both needed the letter of intent so I knew it was coming. The proof...I initially put copies of my passport stamps in the app but not my ID page so that's what was missing there. I made color copies this time.

It might be a while from NOA1 to the point when you'll need the certificate for the first time, so I wouldn't necessarily be rushing to get them.
Anyway, according to the NVC website:
P.S. You should also check out if there are any consulate-specific requirements for the police certificate (same website).

Thought I'd drop a thread in to see if anyone's still here following POE & waiting for AOS. What's everyone up to & how is the adjusting to life in the US going?
I arrived on 12th March, married on 8th April & filed AOS/EAD/AP at the beginning of May - NOA1 came in this week so we're in progress.
I think I'm adjusting quite well now, i had a major wobble the first weekend here where I wondered if I'd be able to adjust to being so far from the UK - that lasted for 2 days then it passed!
My son (17) & his girlfriend came out for a week for the wedding so spent a nice time with them showing them the sights.
Had no problems in the end getting my SSN & state ID (non-drivers license), I do have to redo my state ID though when the K1 90 days expires in June.
I've been to a job fair in the Downtown area which was really helpful ready for when I can start applying, they helped transfer my UK CV to resume format & advised on what the differences would be.
I have a monthly bus pass ($36) so I can travel anywhere in the local metro area, that's really helped to acclimatize me & there is a 2 mile walking trail literally minutes from the apartments.
I've had my first training session with the volunteer park rangers & have volunteered with the local soccer club on a match day collecting tickets.
Been exposed to some weird weather - tornado warnings the first weekend here & again this week, experienced the craziest thunderstorms & flash flooding!!
Lost power for over 12 hrs after a driver took out an energy pole & brought all the power lines down at the entrance to the apartments in the middle of the night! They ended up having to replace 5 poles!
Oh & not forgetting getting used to all the wonderful places to eat!
    So that's me so far………..

See if these apply to your Aunt:

You Are Exempt From The English Language Requirement, But Are Still Required To Take The Civics Test If You Are:
Age 50 or older at the time of filing for naturalization and have lived as a permanent resident (green card holder) in the United States for 20 years (commonly referred to as the 50/20 exception).
    OR
Age 55 or older at the time of filing for naturalization and have lived as a permanent resident in the United States for 15 years (commonly referred to as the 55/15 exception).
    Note:

Even if you qualify for the 50/20 or 55/15 English language exceptions listed above, you must still take the civics test.
You will be permitted to take the civics test in your native language.
If you take the test in your native language, you must bring an interpreter with you to your interview.
Your interpreter must be fluent in both English and your native language.
If you are age 65 or older and have been a permanent resident for at least 20 years at the time of filing for naturalization, you will be given special consideration regarding the civics requirement.
