They took down the online scheduling appointment for Houston and that office doesn’t accept walk in so I really don’t know if I should writr a letter explaining the situation and asking to reschedule from Sept 23rd (return date + 10days quarantine per letter requirement) or just cancel our trip which is fully paid and non refundable ;( seems like a spoiled person comment but we have family joining us there and well...

I applied july 30th 2020, got bio reuse letter in Feb. interview letter received in June for July 29th. From there everything is moving pretty fast actually. Good luck to you :)

Can you give them a call to explain your special situation?

We have seen some cases of calls from FOs if they are trying to schedule at short notice. Maybe they had a cancellation and her name was next in line, or something like that.

Thank you very much! We went to the field office and found the call was legit. We were told the FO called my wife directly because we are a military family and they wanted to offer an earlier date.

  3. My wife has a pending naturalization case filed in Houston, TX in Nov 2020 and received a phone call and a voice message from the self-claimed 'Immigration Office' regarding naturalization (the exact word used in the voice message was 'citizenship application') this afternoon. The person claimed her name is Officer Moore and left a call back number.

When we googled the call back phone number 281-539-7000, it showed it's a commercial company land line in Houston. However, internet research also showed the number may be from a USCIS Houston Field Office.

We are confused and concerned it may be a scam?

  4. Out of curiosity, when USCIS Houston Field Office makes schedule for naturalization interview, did they call you? My wife got a phone call from the office today (she missed it but the officer left a voice message, name, and call back number, so she will call back tomorrow) and was told it's something regarding 'schedule for citizenship application'. I wonder anyone else here had same experience.

Right. But the I-751 case has been pending for 2 years now, which is also over the usual processing time stated online (7 to 20 months). Which case takes longer usually to finish processing (i.e. which case is delaying the other)?

    Thanks,

Try contact State Senators or representatives. It took 15 months for my wife to get I-751 approved. We had to get a State Senator (not TX though, we were not in TX at the time) step in and filed a request for expedited process through his office in the 15th month. Magically, after 3 days we received the notice that expedition was granted and after 2 more days, case was approved.

From everything i have read on here a Congressman (Representative or Senator) can not really help a case

when they inquire, they get the same messages you have gotten -like working on your case and some may take longer than others

however,  you can try,  it does not adversly affect the outcome -just sign a release form-they do not see the case -they just get a response on it -like i said the same letter or email from immigration that you have gotten

We got our case expedited through the senator's office.

    Hi, Everyone!

I have been browsing through this topic for some time now trying to piece together my next step in my Visa process. My Conditional GC expires March 2021, and I will be filing to remove conditions in December some time. I know with Covid-19 things will get delayed like they already have.

I have read that form I-751 can take up to a year to process. This is with people receiving Notifications and having their finger prints taken.

My question is, what happens when my CGC expires?

I know I have to wait at least 3 years to apply for Citizenship... but won't this technically make this 4 years?

Its all a little confusing. Any info you guys have I would greatly appreciate it. (Sorry if this has already been answered)

    Thanks.

Unfortunately, it's definitely not 'up to' one year.

My husband’s extension letter expires in June, I’ve been telling him to try and schedule and apparently IMMEDIATELY when the offices start opening to get his extension stamp. I’m sure there will be a big rush once things start to open up..

Thank you so much for thinking about me!

I am the US citizen, yes. All the other steps in the process (K-1, AOS, etc) went so easily. It’s a bummer we’ve run into this roadblock now.

Have you guys tried your local congressmen/women or senators' offices for help? I understand they may not be able to do much now due to the current COVID-19 situation, but once it gets better, they may be able to speed up the process.

I’m not clear, what do you say is subject to this condition? (If she leaves before the decision then the application is abandoned and there will not be a decision. Best to ensure this no decision outcome by withdrawing the application on exit of course.)

    I was talking about:

'If the alien leaves the U.S. after the Form I-94 date while the application is pending, section 222(g) will not apply, irrespective of whether the application is later approved or denied. However, if the application is found to be frivolous, section 222(g) will apply.'

No, she is out of status when her i94 expires, but she is not accruing unlawful presence with a pending i539. Be aware that if her extension ends up being refused, her B will be canceled immediately. ( Probably not a huge concern with a pending immigrant visa.)

For more details on this see page 3 of this official document (I personally do not like referring people to free legal advice sites, I’ve seen wrong information on those before) https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Resources/C1en.pdf

Agree with the others that AOS probably makes more sense. I’d suggest if you want to go this route you file ASAP because who knows what the presidential proclamation is going to say.

Under one condition: she does not leave the US prior to the day when the USCIS' decision is made.

Did you write N/A in all the boxes? As an example it says last name N/A then again on first name? Or did you just put it in the first box? It just seems like so much extra writing to put it in every box.

Yes, all boxes. like:   First Name: N/A  Last Name: N/A Middle Initial: N/A

Did you need a specific reason for expediting, or just that it had been a while since your case had been filed?

We are an active duty military family and on orders to move to another duty station in a different State very soon. The senator’s office recommended us to try a request for expedite processing through them, although they also told us it was just a try without any guarantees that the request can be approved. We were told that senators nowadays do not have much influence on USCIS processing unless the case is way outside the USCIS published average processing timeframe.

OK, so I am getting together the i751 for my wife. Question about N/A, we all know it says to put it when it doesn't apply. My question is do you put it in literally every box? Like on child 2, well we only have one child. So, I put N/A in the first box (Last name). It seems a bit redundant to put it in all of them. I just wanted to know what everyone else did.

    thanks!

We did it, case got approved.
