  1. I just checked my USCIS account and I learned that my N400 interview was scheduled on Friday. Application submitted on 2/16/22, local center Detroit. I guess that it’s going to be a combo interview, I have to read more about it. Waiting on the notice to come in the mail now to learn the date! What is weird, I logged into my account only because I have received an ‘congratulations, you were approved’ I-751 estimation email from VisaJourney. So I am slightly confused on how

would VisaJourney know, especially that my I-751 is not updated at all.
I am guessing it’s just a coincidence or there is something I am not aware of.

  2. Hi! I have recieved a new notice with a 24 month extension period. At first I was confused but I pulled out the old notice and it says 18 months on it.

I didn't know it was coming, have anyone else recieved it? LIN center. First notice date was in February, now I apparently have a new one from October as the new notice states.

Is that a normal part of the process?

    Edit:

    Just found this:

    Congratulations to all approved!

I was wondering if someone has any insight for my situation. I recieved a biometric appointment notice in the mail today (for some reason is not waived for me..bummer) for a date that I will be out of the country.

I called the number on the letter and they told me someone will call me within the next 2 weeks to reschedule. Then I read about it and it looks like some people tried to do a walk in before the appointment date if they couldn't make it that day.

Could be hard with Covid but I'm thinking about trying to do it. My only worry is that since I already started the rescheduling process it could make more mess for me than would help. Has anyone heard anything about rescheduling (I know it might delay the process..) or just showing up before the scheduled biometrics? Thank you so much 😊

For future reference to anyone in a similar situation- they let me do a walk in! Go in the morning, right when they open😊

@lusiaan, my husband did an early walk in for biometrics after filing for AOS. That was all precovid. It was fine. The attendant did not even look at the date. She just cared that he had his letter and valid ID.

    It's worth a shot.

Thanks! I will try next Wednesday and then if it works and they call I'll just let them know I managed to do it ealier.

My application looks like it is moving along at about the same pace with the rest of the applications submitted in February.  At least so far anyway.  When it gets farther along in the process, I'm not sure.  It didn't seem to help speed us through any faster for the change in status process.

We're assigned to the Nebraska center, so, sadly, I think we'll be going very slow.  :(

We are Nebraska too, is it bad news? I couldn't find processing times for all the service centers to compare other than on the USCIS' website. I read some of the March 2020 thread and it looks like some people who got assigned to Nebraska just got accepted and some are still waiting.

  7. Mailing the package tomorrow, the window opened Jan 31st but we have been busy. Included deed and mortgage proof, IRS transcripts for 2018 and 2019, insurance proof (husband, the USC is on my vision, dental and life policy), 3 HIPAA forms, joint checking and savings bank account statements, joint loan and ownership proof of my car, 3 pages of pictures, a piece of mail addressed to both of us, trip to my country plane tickets confirmation, copies of our driver's licenses showing the same address.

I hope they won't be asking for 2020 tax proof, not sure how likely it is.

Good luck to everyone, here we go again!

Oh I didn't realize I was under the impression that after the ready to be scheduled people got their interview letters soon

It is kinda true, because as I noticed now (for Detroit) "interview scheduled" update comes around a week after "ready to be scheduled". And the letter comes right after (I'm talking about me and the few other people here).

But again, every case is different so it's hard to tell.

Hi guys. We filed last Feb. 14 of this year and had my bio appointment last March 28. Yesterday I got an update about my I-485 and it says it is ready to be scheduled an interview. How long so far the processing time of Detroit field office til I receive my interview schedule?

    Thanks a lot.

    Wow, that's really fast!

I have waited a week, but my status hasn't changed as fast as yours after the bio appointment.

There's no rule to that, some people wait weeks while some wait much longer. You might hear something soon though. Good luck.

I really don't think it has to do with the category you are adjusting from. There is K1 waiting for months there is other categories waiting for months. It is all a matter of how they prioritize the applications. Of course some are more simple than others. Like my friend had 2 marriages 4 kids different divorces. It took him a lot more than others. Also depends where yu come from. I know people don't pay attention to that but USCIS is not like a all inclusive organization. There is more or less screening from country to country.

Oh yes, totally agree, it's not that simple. We can only guess what they take into consideration and it was my theory based on what I noticed, especially when it comes to B2 vs. K1 marriage. Didn't mean to misinform, should have pointed out that it was just a guess.

Hi, I had j1 visa back in 2016, then applied for political asylum but while waiting for any news I got married and now applied through marriage (c9)

See, I was wondering because my bio appt was on Jan 24th and my interview is already scheduled. I'm adjusting from k1 and I think they do this category the fastest. That's what I have noticed here. But also, it's only a 2 day difference. Hope you hear something soon!

Hello everyone. I have a question!

Do we file for an ssn after getting our work permit? I read on the website that we can't get an ssn as a non-us citizen unless we are allowed to work.

If you file before ead, the ssn card will have a note "allowed to work only with authorization". Which is true, for people who came here on k1, we are technically allowed to work - with the permit. https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211530

I applied before getting married and came back to change my name after and got refused. So now, when I get my ead or green card I will go back and they should give me a new card with my new name and without the authorization note. At least that's what I read. Maybe the note stays and we use it with the other document.

I'm glad I got the number before: we used it to add me to his insurance, tax purposes and to get my learner's permit.

Btw, yesterday I got an update we got scheduled for an interview! In a week after "ready to schedule" status. Waiting for the letter now.

Nah, 2018 is not "the most recent year" until April 15th, 2019.

They either lost it or you did not send a complete copy of the ITR including all pages and schedules PLUS W2s.

Thanks so much! I think we sent everything, but it doesn't really matter now. Do we need to include anything else but the rfe letter and our response?  Do we need to sign the papers?
