So I called the lawyer that filed my petition today and now they are telling me that they DID NOT file a G-1145, and that they don't normally do that. No idea why they wouldn't send a G-1145 in. Kind of makes me doubt my lawyer now...

In any case, check was cashed on 2/14.

So my timeline is: packet sent 2/6, delivered 2/9, check cashed 2/14 (so package received 2/14 at the latest).

And now I'm waiting on NOA1 paper notification by snail mail...

Oh I'm sorry for that, I have read quite a few posts with people saying how their layers didn't send this form... I'm sure everything's ok though, hopefully you'll get it in the mail soon

  2. I have a question for beneficiaries (but petitioners feel free to speak up, of course). It's a little personal: are you fully, 100% happy and ready to leave your country?

I am very, very happy to be with my fiance, we have been in LDR for 4 years right now, so it's about time, but it's kind of a bitter-sweet feeling. I am excited to start a "normal" life with him, that's what I am waiting for... but at the same time, it's hard to say goodbye to my family, friends, to leave my job (hell I'm going to miss my kitty so much too,  I have had her for 9 years)... I am trying to focus on the happy part of the moving, but honestly I'm a little bit affraid of the travel to my new home. That's why I really want him to pick me up.

What about you? I never have had a chance to talk with other people in the same situation, I'm very curious. I suppose it's not easy for anyone...

Why do you need local office?

go to uscis website and check your status it will show you the received date. All k1 goes to California service center by the way not to a local office.

Thanks, I know it all goes to California, but some people have info about their local office (for us it would be Chicago or Detroit), and I was wondering what does it mean.

  4. Hi,
we are about to send our I-129 in. The evidence includes printed screenshots of facebook posts with names of people who commented on our pictures (on one of the pics there's even a random person, displaying on my page as a friend to add). We were wondering if we should cover the names of these people? It seems to be private information, but I don't know how it works with USCIS.

  5.  Yes, I know I'd have to learn about the US law . But honestly, I hope I can just learn it myself and I won't have to go to school again (at least not that fast, one day yes). It doesn't seem that hard for me (maybe I'm wrong, but I'm working with the polish law- I know it's different though). I just graduated after long years and want to focus on working . I also realize that my masters is not US masters. Well, if I have to do something more with my education or get some kind of a certification I deifinitely will. Thanks for all the suggestions! I know more now.

You may want to consider a spousal visa when you actually decide to get married as this may allow you to continue to gain experience abroad while waiting for the CR1 processing, then you would enter the country with a GC in hand instead of having to wait 90 or so days for an EAD after a K1 AOS.

Yes, we are considering it too, don't know what option will be the best for us yet :)

Be prepared to start a job here maybe at a lower position but related to your field of study hopefully.

I am prepared and ready to do that, as long I stay in my field I could be even an intern. I don't mind it, I can work my way up... just worried I would miss my 'old' job even more ( well, sometimes you have to sacrifice something). I'm sorry that your experience is not so great, hope it will be getting better and better for you,

I've been to Michigan. There is not much in West Michigan. The biggest city is Grand Rapids and for me, it is still pretty small. You could check what companies are there but I doubt there is a company trying to recruit people for companies in the Grand Rapids area.

Thank you for all your tips, we actually were thinking about Chicago- as a plan B. My boyfriend could get transfered to another city with his job, but he would lost his seniority (means higher salary and longer vacation time). He lives in Grand Rapids and I can't agree with you here- the city is expanding pretty fast :). I spent quite a long time there and I could see how they are developing- they are building a looot of new stuff, new people are moving in, opening new businesses. The city also attracts bigger and bigger events (many art oriented). I checked before, and there are lots of  HR jobs offers in the area. I also like Michigan for the scenery and the weather- reminds me of Poland :). But you are right, if I can't be satisfied with what GR offers me, we will probably move. I wouldn't mind to live in a huge city at all, we might actually do it one day :).

Does your international company have offices in the US? Maybe they would like to hire you there once you move to the US. Even if you have to move from Michigan to another part in the US, that would allow you to continue with your work.

They do, and they do have them in Chicago and MI too! I would be really lucky if they had an open postion in HR by the time I will be moving though :(. Maybe...

I have another question: do HR people in US have to take any tests before they can do they job?

Thank you all for taking time of your day to help me :).

  7. Hello,

I will be moving to the States in a few years (probably K1). Although it's a long time, I like to prepared for everything.

My boyfriend lives in West MI. How is it there with recruitment jobs? I just got my master's degree (different, but connected field), and by the time I move, I should have around 2 years of experience in a huge international company (I am recruiting for different level postions, for my whole country). I really like doing that and I would love to continue my career in US. I saw a lot of nice job offers, I just don't know if I can stand a chance without local experience. Did anyone have a smiliar situation? Thank you for reading my post.

  8. I applied for B2 visa last year in march. I wanted to visit my (American) boyfriend for the summer. This summer was the first one after graduating univeristy (bachelor's degree). And I didn't have a job. Also, I haven't traveled a lot in the past ( I didn't get a question about that though). So my situation looked not so good. A lot of people would tell me to hide that I am going to visit my boyfriend...but I didn't feel like it. I told the truth...and I got the visa! For 10 years. I was very surprised. The woman who was interviewing me was really nice and asked me a lot of questions about me and my boyfriend, how we met, our future plans etc (he visited me before). She also asked about my school, family and my career plans. I was just honest. I guess I got very lucky, but if you are in a similar or a better situation than me (you have a job and you didn't just graduate) you definitely should give it a try! I landed at the O'Hare airport where everything went smooth as well, I just got a few basic questions and I didn't hide anything again. The custom officer was polish just like me :). I have stayed in US for 2 months and a week, (on the interview I said I'll be there for a month because I thought so, and there was no problem with that) and I am going to spend about the same amount of time there next summer. Good luck everyone :).
