The whole process took a week, I first applied for my passport and passport card, I then filled out the SSN application and mailed it off with a letter stating that I am updating my citizenship status and included my passport card as evidence of citizenship. So if anyone is worried about SSA loosing their naturalization certificate, you don't have to mail that, just mail your passport card if you applied for one.

Received my Naturalization certification in the mail, today. Not bent at all. It looks like they were very careful with the certificate, which is good, because I wanted to frame it or a copy. I think I’ll just make a color copy and frame it, and put the original in my safe. Good luck to everyone on the rest of your journeys. Much love!

Finally got the interview letter today, June 08 will have the interview. FOIA worked. But the whole process to interview took almost 2 years… so much for the 6 months USCIS says it takes to naturalize…

Finally done with my citizenship journey.

We had a big naturlization ceremony at the Brooklyn cyclones stadium today. There were about 15-20 Judges present and over 200 new citizens from 60+ countries plus cops in ceremonial uniforms. There was also a high school band and two new citizens selected to speak about their citizenship journey. It was an emotional and heart touching event. They took our green cards before we were let into the stadium seating area. I think there was a TV camera present as well if i'm not wrong.

We had to wait from 9 am till 11am while they sat everyone down and prepare. We said the oath of allegiance with right hands raised. The ceremony concluded around 12.45-1PM. Then everyone was asked to collect their naturalization certificates. We also got two tickets each for a cyclones match in coming weeks.

Took 2 years since filing but it was worth it in the end.

Hi everyone, here's my emergency passport journey.

After getting my citizenship I was not in a rush to get a passport, due to covid, and no travel plans.
Later last year my boss told me we would have to go on a business trip within the next 2 weeks. I froze, when I got home that day I started researching and I realized I could get a passport if I had my trip booked, which I did.
Next morning I called the passport agency and explained my situation. Since my trip was in 10 days from the day I called I was able to schedule an appointment. I could only schedule an appointment 3 days before my trip (there's a 72 hours rule), I was a little nervous but hoping for the best. On the day of my appointment I had with me, my flight tickets, my citizenship certificate, passport picture, and a bunch of work/trip related documents. Everyone was very nice, the first teller checked my docs then the second one took my passport application, citizenship certificate and passport picture, and asked me to pay the fee which was something around $250 - $270. After that she told me I could come back in 4 hours or the next morning. Around 3:30PM that day I went back and my passport and passport card with my citizenship certificate were there waiting for me.

It was quick and efficient, I hope this helps someone that might be going thru something similar.

Passport application, naturalization certificate, drivers license, check or debit/credit card to pay the fees, Very important not to sign the passport application before hand! Only in front of USPS employee. They will take your Original naturalization certificate with the application but it will come back to you by mail at some point. 1 passport style photo, some USPS facilities don’t offer this service, make sure yours does if not got to CVS, Walgreens or the equivalent in your area to have your passport style picture taken before you show up at USPS facility. Then the waiting game starts.

So to me that is the problem. You were not living together on that day. Even though you were prior to that date.

Thus the earliest you could file is August 23, 2021, according to the IO.

    I see your point.

Right and had she filed 2021/08/24 you’d have been fine.

So I think you have a basis for an appeal but the problem is even if you win it might take as long to wi the appeal as it would to refile N-400.

I find this case to be fascinating as this is yet another land mine  of the 3 year rule.  I traveled for business without my wife shortly after we married and so I am going to going over my travel with a fine toothed comb before we file my wife in 2022.

    My mind is blown.

Foia works wonders. Hopefully you’ll see the case change gears once foia req is fulfilled. I filed around same time as you and it was hard stuck for many many months until foia.

This is what they wanted from me:

-Form DS-11 (fill out most of the info at home so you don't have to deal with it there. I filled out my form on the computer so it would be easily readable)
-Drivers license (or state-ID, whatever you have)
-Original Naturalization Certificate (make your own copy first, and also keep a scanned copy on your computer)
    -Form N-662 (name change document)
-Personal check with the passport fee (I paid the execution fee and photo fee with my credit card)

I didn't bring my own photos, they took photos of me there.

Your Naturalization Certificate takes care of your proof of citizenship and Proof of ID. You need 1 Picture and the fees. (Info Per Passport Application)

No reason to wait with getting a passport appointment if you know which date you will have your oath. Always good to plan ahead. 👍 Congrats to the N-400 approval!

The IO mistakenly scheduled your oath before the review was done.

I expect you will get an RFE or an oath ceremony date set in the next 30 days.

abfar reacted to Adujarric in Did I really muck up my N400 interview?
Crazy thing is that for my interview i was missing a disposition of one of my cases & the IO especifically told me that he couldnt approved me that day but gave me a case number to help the court find my disposition because they had written my last name so messed up during that arrest that there was no way the could have found my disposition. He also told me that as soon as i submitted the disposition he was approving my case which he did just that a week after i mailed him the paper. I say this to say that he could have given you a little more help but didnt.

Oath ceremony gets scheduled after couple of days or perhaps week after the notice. In some cases, the computer or whatever schedules the ceremony on the same day of notice, which is impossible to attend unless the applicant is right there inside the building.

They sent me a notice for the interview on Feb 4. In the notice, it said my interview was scheduled for that same day. This leads me to believe that’s the reason why they cancelled it immediately. Obviously I’m just guessing at this point. I have no way to know for sure.

    Many congratulations.

Yes it sounds like you are there!  When I was interviewed, I had a similar experience. The interviewing officer said I'd passed the interview, but she couldnt make the approval decision there and then as the case had to go for a quality review.
A couple of hours later my status changed to "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled", which meant that I was fully approved and they were just trying to schedule an oath appointment.

I got my Oath ceremony letter a couple of weeks later, and then about a month later had the ceremony.

    Congrats again!
