Oh man. They are downstairs at the counter? Was hoping to have the private rooms upstairs. Alot more comfortable, personal and no difficulty hearing through glass. I wonder if Covid-19 made them start doing it downstairs at the counters.

I’m not sure covid-19 made them do that. I guess it’s a deliberate initiative to get the process going a lot more faster. It’s been like this for over a year. Remember the whole of Illinois has just one office. Unlike Ohio and some other states with 3 or 2 offices.

  2. Hi Chicago filer here. I appreciate everyone here for their contributions on this platform. It’s been a long journey but thankfully it’s almost over for me. I want to debunk the thought that Chicago is slow. It’s absolutely not.
I filed (paper) November 13th, 2019 scheduled for bio on Dec 11th.2019, had my interview on March 5th.2020. Interview went very well. The officer is extremely nice and courteous. I was suppose to be there at 1pm but considering Chicago traffic I left home early and got to the office at 12:10pm. I checked in at around 12:15pm. Officer called me for the interview at around 12:30pm. He thanked  me for coming early and started the interview process. Had to update my form because i had a baby 3weeks before my interview.

I had the first 6 questions correct and so continued with the yes/no questions on the form. NOTE ; Through out the interview the officer will be testing your ability to speak and understand English. He asked me to verify my name and address and also verify my name change (added a middle name) which I did. He congratulated me and said he recommended my n400 is approved.

He said My oath ceremony will be in a court house due to the change of name and also I should get the oath ceremony notice within 2 and half weeks. I check my Uscis account today and the notice has been mailed as of March 9th.

In all the process took 4months. I thought it will be longer considering it’s in Chicago but not at all.
Also Chicago n400 interview are held in a open area settings like a bank. Officers sit like how tellers do in a bank and applicant are at the window but with a long chair. A total of 19 windows. That’s why Chicago is faster.

Congratulations! Chicago filer here too. Are you applying based on 3 yr or 5 yr?

My receipt notice is for nov 6 and still waiting. Applied online. Biometrics completed mid November

5yr based. I’m sure you would get it soon. A friend that I personally know who filed on Oct 25 , had his bio (Nov. 25th)two weeks before mine (Dec 11th). We were both scheduled for interview on Jan 17th. 2 hrs apart. He got his schedule notice at 2pm and I got mine at 3:55pm. His interview is on March 2nd.2020 and mine is March 5th.2020 both in Chicago. My estimated completion date is Aug.2020(7months).

  4. Chicago filer here!!!!!

Finally the waiting is coming to an end.

Filled N400 Nov 13th.( paper filling *pls do online filing, don’t be like me lol)

    Acceptance Nov 18th.

    Biometrics Dec 11th.

Jan 17th. Status changed online to INTERVIEW SCHEDULED. I called USCIS customer service and they confirmed interview scheduled for March 5th at the Chicago office.

  5. my interview went quite well, just that they gave me and my brother 221g requesting for w2 of joint sponsor. whiles we wr abt to leave I asked the consular if everything is fine (evidence proving relationship) and she said yes, so I guess I don't have to do the dreaded and expensive and time consuming DNA. the consular also added that on the day submission of the w2 We should come along with our passports and she also mentioned that the two of us do not have to come, thus one should come with the requested document, the 221g and our passports.

    pls tell me:

could it be that when they check the document(w2) and it okay they will approve our visa????

could they request another thing again(another 221g) when we go there with the requested document???

incase I get the document earlier than the date they gave me for submission, can I call or email for earlier date??

pls anyone with ideas should help me out. thanks. am disturbed.

  7. hi guys , I went for my interview yesterday with my brother. the process went smooth, no DNA request. but the consular needs the w2 or tax transcript of the joint sponsor. we only had tax transcript of my dad and not the joint sponsor. we were given 221g requesting for tax transcript or w2 of the joint sponsor on Nov,12th. in fact the consular even said one of us could return the document together with our passports...... does this mean just that when we return to the embassy with the w2 our visa will be issued????

also the joint sponsor has gotten his w2 and we may received through dhl next week. can we submit it to the embassy before the Nov,12th. thanks guys.

  9. I have no idea. You would have to put in advance search. But DNA testing is done same at all embassy. You select which lab in US from their sheet. They have beneficiaries get swabbed after the petitioner is swabbed and off they go to the lab in US and results are sent back.

You have to be on it and stay on top of the embassy because theyy will drag it out so be diligent and bug the heck out of them.

    It's usually a 3 to 6 month process

    thanks dweels.

but will tones of evidence proving relationship with petitioner prevent me from doing DNA in Accra???
