cocolucho reacted to YecaCruz in Best and legit website for certified English translation for document?
I've heard that rev.com is a good one though I don't have first-hand experience using it.
If either of you are fluent in both languages there is also the option to do it yourself. I translated my husband's with no problems.

Here's a statement from DHS today that throws some light on the current status: https://www.dhs.gov/news/2017/01/31/transcript-media-availability-executive-order-secretry-kelly-and-dhs-leadership
Quoting from the link above: "The people affected by this order, we denied boarding to 721 travelers that had visas from the affected countries, but we actually processed for waivers 1,060 lawful permanent residents of the United States, as well as an additional 75 waivers granted to immigrant visa and nonimmigrant visa holders. To make sure everybody understands how the process is working today, lawful permanent residents and special immigrant visa holders are allowed to board their flights foreign and will be processed for a waiver upon arrival."
As cocolucho said, it seems like green card holders will not be affected. And all coverage so far addresses only the seven countries affected by the ban so for all other nationalities, travel should be normal as before.

cocolucho got a reaction from gaia12 in I-751 January 2017 Filers
I have had friends who arrived over the weekend and did not experience any problems when passing immigration. That being said, they came from South America and from countries were the new temporary immigration ban is not affecting them. I think it is a personal decision to travel or not, and if you do make sure to bring all documents needed to get back in like the extension letter and your green card. US citizens and residents are not being affected by the temporary ban. "The Department of Homeland Security said it would no longer bar green-card holders from those countries from entering the United States."

cocolucho reacted to gabreigns in I-751 January 2017 Filers
Based on the timelines from December, January, If the filing is sent to California the fingerprinting is generally, loosely around a month from your date of sending. But I have seen this vary all over the place. I am not sure about Vermont filers though.
But I feel like you should be safe if the trip is in March.... Sending you some good vibes...
I was in the same boat with application sent in on the 3rd of January 2017 and a trip scheduled in the first week of February... So I was a bit nervous to be honest.
However, things turned out fine as my Biometrics appointment is tomorrow.
So wishing you the best again.

You should be fine. What they are looking for is the fact that you have filed jointly.

I'd also reprint and date the I-751 form within your 90-day window. Not sure if that really matters but I'd do it just to be on the safe side.

cocolucho got a reaction from gaia12 in I-751 January 2017 Filers
I think so.
I don't think is the date you write on the cover letter or the I-751 form because mine was dated a few dates before, but I think it is stamp at the post office/the date it is mailed. Hope this helps!

cocolucho reacted to gaia12 in I-751 January 2017 Filers
Very sorry to hear, Karmen & Joe. It might be better to use a new money order if the current one is dated prior to your 90-day window.
USPS should definitely refund/exchange your money order for a new one.

If your fiance has not been deported yet, could you get married and adjust? Have you consulted a lawyer about all legal possible options? You may be able to stop the deportation proceedings if you are married. Consult a lawyer. Good luck! -
cocolucho got a reaction from Unshakable Faith in Urgent need help with RFE
If the RFE letter does not arrive before you leave, just have a family member or a friend check your mail box and read it to you or scan it and send it to you via email. Maybe you can work on the RFE while you are visiting or wait until your return from your trip. You will have plenty time to respond. I don't see a reason why you should cancel your trip if you are only going to be away for two weeks. You should be okay. Good luck!

Yes, just like in Spain, the US recognizes you as being married therefore the petition should be filed as married.
Good luck!

cocolucho got a reaction from TBoneTX in Approved (Peru) but still haven't received status update or visa
It usually takes about a week or so to process your paper work and get the visa sent to DHL. It is not uncommon that it can take longer than that so maybe you can try to reach the DHL office. I did not received an update either from the embassy and did not see it until after my wife pick it up from DHL.
I would recommend to call the DHL office you assigned and ask if they have a package ready for your wife. Maybe they already have it. As I found out when I call is that even though the package is pick up at the embassy it does not go straight to the dhl office you selected, it goes first to the distribution center (I believe in Callao) and then gets routed to the location. DHL are the ones who update the tracking of the document on the usa-visa website for tracking. Have you check there? https://ais.usvisa-info.com/es-pe/iv/users/sign_in/iv
Good luck!

I am so sorry for your loss :-(
I think you can apply for an emergency visa from the US consulate in the Philippines. See this link: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-niv-emergencyappointment.asp
"Funeral/DeathPurpose of travel is to attend the funeral of or make arrangements for repatriating the body of an immediate family member (mother, father, brother, sister, child, grandparent, or grandchild) in the United States.
Essential documentation:
A letter from the funeral director stating the contact information, the details of the deceased and the date of the funeral. You must also present evidence that the deceased is an immediate relative." Although it seems it is not a guarantee that you will get an expedited emergency US visa, I hope you do get it based on the validity of your situation.
Best of luck!

cocolucho reacted to aaron2020 in Questions about F1 AOS, K1, and OPT
Hi,
This is not a fairly complex situation. You only think it is.
Here is what I would do if I were you guys. This is the best option to stay together and is the least expensive overall.
1. Get a civil marriage at city hall after she graduates.
2. File for an adjustment of status so she can get a green card. At the same time, file for EAD and AP.
3. If she wants to leave the US after marrying and filing for AOS, DO NOT LET HER LEAVE WITHOUT AP. It will take about 90 days to get. If she leaves without AP, she will be stuck outside the US for 6-12 months. DO NOT LEAVE ON MAY 31, 2015. After getting AP, she can freely travel abroad without abandoning the AOS.
4. The EAD will take 90 days. Once she has it, she can take any job she wants.
5. She gets her green card in about 6 months after filing.
Best of luck.
