  1. I'm a US Citizen and filled CR-1 visa for my spouse. I'm about to fill DS-260 for my spouse.

My spouse is practicing physiotherapist in India. How should I answer the following questions in form DS-260?

Are you a graduate of a foreign medical school seeking to perform medical services in the United States but have not yet passed the National Board of Medical Examiners examination or its equivalent? Yes No

Are you a health care worker seeking to perform such work in the United States but have not yet received certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools Yes No

Will answering Yes to any one of the questions have negative impact on our Visa ? Please help

    Thank you in advance

I'm no expert but this is what I understood of these questions: Is he planning to practice in the U.S. without first passing the NBME? In other words, is he planning to illegally practice in the U.S.? The only reason i thought of it this way was based on a sample DS-230 (this form was replaced by the electronic version DS-260) that Saylin has on her WiKi: http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/81807.pdf

Please see page 3, number 40 (A-L). if you check off "Yes" to any of these, you are ineligible for a Visa (says so right below number 40).

My husband is in medical school (has many more years to go) and we put "No" for both questions.

Personally i think it's a trick question to see if people misinterpret it.

  2. Just FYI that my husband called and nothing yet for Mexico. We'll be calling everyday though! lol....however, they did say they would start scheduling until next week (January 5th and on).

The P4 emails have been coming any where from 24 hours to a few days later (gosh I remember when they came within an hour.) So its a wait.

Ok, thank you! Nothing yet for Mexico but hopefully we'll know this week or next.

  3. I know this might sound dumb but I just don't want to get a check list for something really stupid ... on part 4 letter F on the I864EZ for household size it says add the numbers together and it has 2 boxes ... should I just put 2 in the first box which I did and left the second blank... or put 0 in first box and 2 and the second?

if this is stupid its ok don't answer hahahah,

This is really up to you. I put N/A in that section as well and where it wouldn't let me do it with the computer, i wrote it in LOL

By the way here is my BIG tip: This form (at least for me) printed differently than what i had checked off. So my advice is this: after you are done filling it out, print it and review it again to make sure that all boxes are checked and all amounts appear.

When I filled it out it was perfect, but when I printed it the military question and citizenship question were not marked and the total income for the past 3 years were not there. Had i sent it in just like that, i would have received many checklists! So triple check your work AFTER you print it, not just before.

    Best of luck!

I recommend to put "02" (0 in left box, 2 in right box) because if you notice, the boxes line up right below the other boxes. That's what i did (I filled out I-864EZ) and got CC with no checklists :)

    Good luck!

P.S. No question is stupid....we're here to help each other out because we all know that NVC is the pickiest when it comes to these little details.

  5. I just got off the phone with NVC and the rep informed me that they are completely done scheduling January interviews. She said they should start scheduling February interviews the first week of January (so January 5-9). Just fyi in case anyone was wondering. I'm happy to have CC and I trust that God's timing is always perfect so if it's going to be February, that's ok with me :)

Best of luck to everyone :)

  6. Remember your support thread (us!)

We are here with you and going through your emotions - I know we would all wish and pray that we could celebrate right now but I find looking at what could have happened (which is smooth instead of bumpy) doesn't change anything. Emotions will fly and that's okay - keeping everything inside really makes it worse and eventually we all are human and melt down.

Sending you lots of hugs Virtual-Hug.gifand sending tons to all of my fellow VJ'ers who are battling the checklists - I know that sinking feeling and I'm there with you to support!!

Hello! I see that you are going to fight NVC's decision which is good! I really hope they fix this mistake on their part right away! Keep us posted :)

  7. Well it would have been - I got the second e-mail. I am so doubting myself - thankfully we have a duplicate copy of the AOS (sitting at my husbands work at the moment) but they are stating I didn't check the military box.

I am so sunk at the moment. Can't write more - need to sleep and need to see this paper and what it says tomorrow.

We understand....go get some rest. If we can help in any way, we are here for you!

  8. So unfortunately after that e-mail was sent out - which would have confirmed a CC. I got the second e-mail - which confirms a checklist.

All our paperwork is at my husbands office which we can't get to at the moment. It is claiming that we didn't mark the box about military status. I could have swore I checked the papers and rechecked them. I will be so devastated if that's the reason.

I can't think, I feel like I'm going to throw up and I'm not sure I will get any sleep right now. That box. The big question is did I really leave it blank?? I can't do anything and can't check it so it's just a night of waiting to confirm and then what - if it is checked, I have to wait until a supervisor reviews it and that takes another 40 some days.

I feel everyone who has got a checklist - that lump and that sink. I am at a loss of words at the moment.

I'm so sorry to hear this! :(
