Go where the helpers tell you to go. It differs with every airport and it also changes hour by hour… explain your situation and they will direct you to the correct line. If your niece is nervous about standing in line alone you can explain that… but she might have to talk to CBP alone.

So...where are the VJ Fil-Am success stories?
Let me start, me and Tahoma are still happy together. We've been married for almost five years. It's been the best five years of my life. He treats me like a queen/empress and I treat him like a king... I guess this is the formula of our success. We treat each other with love and respect. We bicker (like kids), we argue..but we still have fun!
We love to travel, talk, laugh, discuss different topics, and eat! It's just amazing how we are so compatible in so many ways. We always compromise. And, we listen to each other...well, sometimes he pretends! Bless his heart.
I still look forward to coming home to him at the end of my work each day.
    Now, your turn...

Ok...first of all, you're not married yet. At present, you are not eligible for a Social Security Number.
Here's what should happen after you're married...
With a K1 visa, your fiancé (fiancée) can enter the U.S. through a port of entry; The marriage must take place within 90 days after his or her arrival; if not, or if your fiancé(e) marries someone else instead, he or she is required to leave the United States; After marriage, your fiance (fiancee) should file I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, with a USCIS service that has jurisdiction over your area of residence; Your fiance (fiancee) may also apply for employment authorization (EAD) in order to work, and advance parole (AP) for travel purposes; You and your fiance (fiancee) go to a local USCIS office for an interview; If I-485 is approved, your fiance (fiancee) will receive a permanent resident card (aka green card). If at time of approval the marriage is less than two years old, the green card will be conditional and only valid for two years. Form I-751 must be filed within 90 days before the expiration date of the conditional green card to remove the conditions. If it is already two years into your marriage when I-485 is approved, your fiancé(e), now spouse, will receive a regular green card valid for 10 years; Three years after your spouse receives the (conditional) green card, he or she will be eligible for U.S. citizenship You can apply for a work permit when you and your husband apply for Adjustment of Status - it can take a couple of months to get a work permit.
There shouldn't be any problem with paperwork when you move to Texas - but, you must file for a Change of Address with USCIS. That can be done on the USCIS website.
    Good Luck!

    1. go to the interview without completing the medical exam and
    2. expect to get a 221g about the medical exam and
    3. ask for a pass to return to the embassy for tuesday and wednesday (both days, just in case) and
    4. go back to the medical place after the interview is finished and
    5. finish up with the medical and
    6. hand carry the medical stuff into the IV unit, using the pass obtained back on step 3.
That's about all I can think of, for now.

    Hey VJ,
We just wanted to give a gigantic "thank you" to the admins, moderators, and active contributors to this wonderful site. My fiance is finally home after what felt like an eternity, and without your help, it may have taken much, much longer.
To everyone who's just starting their own journey, hang in there, and use this site to it's absolute potential. It has mountains of useful information, and really helped Amanda and I prepare, compile, and submit a successful (RFE Free) a I-129F.
To everyone who's already completed their journey, yet continue to post, a huge thank you. Your experience in an area that is vastly unknown to everyone, is priceless. Keep it up... there's plenty more people madly in love, separated by continents, who need your help.
Much love from Matthew and Amanda!

I am an April Filer. Take a look at my time line. My case just got to NVC and has a case number. I am not sure if the Philippines are still expediting, but I think all Philippines filers should get top priority over anywhere else because of the typhoon

Wow you guys are taken this to a new level. He was just asking a simple question and not to get a uproar over this posting. I filed in march and I also went thru the Texas service center. Yes there are still people that are being expedited in phil. What are rules, how are they getting it done, how do they decide is anyone's guess. They said you had to be affected by the typhoon but my fiancée wasn't so that wasn't a factor. There was people that filed the same time I did and they are still waiting and no they didn't get a RFE.
This is a very touchy subject but even if there was no expediting going on and phil was faster than Romania, Morocco, Britain or wherever it is still not the fault of the petitioner and you should take your anger up with your senator, congressman or who ever related to that country. I'm not pointing anyone out I just looked at all the countries that responded to this posting. Everyone has a right to their feelings no matter how long or short the wait is. We all have the same common goal here so lets be supportive.

I will let everyone know how it goes.

It's difficult to predict what they have planned for releasing dates. I understand from reading past posts that the entire month of June was opened April 3rd-ish, but this time only 11 days into July were opened on June 1, according to all the posts I have read. It looks like those who are seeking openings will have to keep refreshing and looking for an open date from a cancellation. Difficult to predict what the embassy will do in terms of opening blocks--there's really no pattern lately. Good luck!

Valid for 6 months from the date of the medical, must be in the USA before expiration. After POE the I-94 is the form authorizing your valid status in the USA, which is good for 90 days from POE.... the time frame for getting married.

Actually it depends on specific country. Some countries like the Philippines, K-1 visa expiration date 6 months from medical exam, not from date of issuance. Unlike the Philippines, the US embassy in Jakarta Indonesia has different rules. My visa expiration is 6 months from date of issuance. I had medical on December 31 2013, my visa was issued on January 23 2014, and the expiration date is July 21 2014.

She did medical exam on 12/18/2013 and her visa expiration date is 6/17/2014.
They issued her visa on 02/27/2014. I can clear the info on her visa and then I will post here so you can see it.

Happy in love reacted to derrickmichille in What do you do after the 5 months of wait time?
I wish people will stop saying everyone who filed a petition for the Philippines get special treatment or have priority. That is wrong wrong wrong!!!!
I have filed a petition and it will be 5 months in a few weeks since my NOA1, and I am not the only one. Their are many who filed for the Philippines that are still waiting.
Only the people who were directly impacted by the typhoon and they have to send in proof that they were impacted by the typhoon get expedited.
Telling people that all people from the Philippines get priority is giving any body who just filed from the Philippines false hope.
Again not all people from the Philippines get priority. I wish that was true or I and many others would not be sitting waiting for our NOA2.
and then some people just get lucky, and get approved very quickly, while others have to wait, wait and wait. I am used to it now, I know the NOA2 is coming, I just have to be patient. There are some people still waiting from Nov and Dec, so I cant complain to much, they have been waiting much longer than me!!
I thank you for trying to help others, but please before you give out information, please check to see if your information is correct.
People are really depending on the information that they receive from members on VJ, just make sure you giving the correct information.
Good luck to all on this journey.

Sorry I am just being very careful on sharing those kind of things to other specially those are important papers. And btw if u want to get your noa2 fast why don't u try to expedite your case in uscis.
