neo - the bank will want to see credit history and steady income. You need to build your credit history. The best way to do that is to go to the bank and get a "secured" credit card. Then after 6 months or so of using the card and paying it off every month, you can start to apply for other lines of credit.
As far as a new immigrant with their first job in America, you will probably have to get a car loan with your wife. She would be the primary borrower, and your name would also be on the loan. With good, on-time payments, this will build your credit and you will not need someone for the next loan.
Sometimes this isn't possible right away, and people have to buy used cheap cars that they pay cash for until they have built their credit history.
How long ago did you get your green card?

    Hi,
    Maybe.
Without a credit history, most lenders will be reluctant to take a risk on you. If you do manage to get a loan, it will carry a higher rate because you lack a credit history.
    Best of luck

You'll have to ask the car dealership. Most won't be eager to provide a loan that outlives a person's legal status in the US. The more you can put down up front, the better chance you have at anything.

With Blizzak or Michelin X-ice tyres you can drive a RWD in the snow. I've done plently driving in a BMW M3 in the snow. The new cars have lots of traction systems built in, even if they are RWD.

2wd trucks are even worse in snow. Buy a fwd car, awd car, or 4x4.
Even with a 4x4 truck you should put weight over the rear axle in winter, like sandbags.

As long as you can prove that you married in good faith and have proof of a legitimate marriage you can divorce and remove conditions on your own

You shouldn't drive a GT in the snow. It is sacrilegious.

    Snow?
go to your local tire store, inquire about snow tires for this car.
    Report back, when able...

RWD cars aren't generally the best for snow. Snow tires are pretty much a must and it takes some practice to handle the vehicle.

Your wife should file for you both even though you have not earned anything, (married filing jointly). She should get a refund because of the higher tax break.

You don't "apply for taxes." you file a tax return. Since you are not employed, you have no income and would not have any basis for filing anything.
Your wife has until April 15th to either file the forms or for an extension.

I completely support this statement as I experienced it myself. I have been searching for job for last 1 month seriously and reached up to final interview two times but still no luck. In 1 job hiring manager was not even confident speaking about job skills requirement, but called me because I have more years of experience and better qualification than her and she was looking for one helping hand to her. She wanted to hire me initially, but when saw my confidence level more than her, never came back to me even though she explained second step and referred few books and terms for preparing for the second round. I was very confident in getting that job as my interview on my part went really well. She was admiring all my experience throughout interview process, but changed her mind after I left probably. She has hired freshers (she told me in the interview) for the position earlier and that's what she will do this time too, even though she will have to work hard more (she was complaining about it in interview that how she had to train all freshers whom she hired earlier) and company will suffer more, but better than having someone better looking, intelligent and more experienced than her.
I feel it is better for me to apply for more opportunities than getting hired and work for these people because one will always suffer with them. They will never do any good or let you do any good for company and it will always be a power game.
I must say be patient and wait for better thing which you deserve.

Yeah, I think you answered your own questions. One, they might feel threatened and two, they might believe you will eventually expect a bigger salary and not stick around.

What kind of sites/resources are you using to do your job search?
My husband swears by Craigslist eventhough I have always found it rather informal. There is where he actually got the job he has now.
I wish you the very best in your search!

If your wife went to State, then she might have access to their center and could get a list of companies here in Michigan and you could apply locally and directly to companies, particularly to get an internship and get your foot in the door, but by all means, apply in other states, because certainly the weather is much better elsewhere

Ok, the reason I was asking is because Michigan State has a career center.

You might have to try for an internship first. Get your foot in the door so they can see what you do. Do you have your bachelors and masters from Michigan State or Morocco?

Have you considered moving to another state or do you have roots in Michigan and are committed to staying (Spouse/kids etc)?
Depending on your specialty (software development, networking etc) you might have more options in NYC, SF/Bay area ,RTP or Charlotte in North Carolina, Austin, Dallas or Houston.
If you are having difficulty in Michigan you may have to cast a wider net nationwide..

I do not mean to come across as mean or anything like that.. but from your post it seems that you have a bit of a hard time communicating in English. Have you received any feedback on why are you not landing the job? Some recruiters are nice and could give you feedback if you ask.
    Best,
