Glad to see some movement in Columbus!

Has anyone heard of them doing interviews recently? I'm still awaiting mine being re-scheduled...

Probably about time I joined in here. Submitted my case in december, had my biometrics scheduled for and done on new years eve (!). Interview was scheduled on April 2nd, for the 22nd - then was de-scheduled on the 16th.

Right now, I'm yet to hear any more information. Columbus office. I'm wondering if I should call?

As your local office is in Cleveland, I assume that you have an Ohio licence. I went through this with my local small-town BMV who were less than helpful when all I have was the (expired) K-1 visa in my passport and no green card. Unfortunately Ohio has no clear provision for using an expired I-551 and an I-797. There is only generic language that provides for it.

You are going to want to point the person there toward a combination of Ohio Administrative Code 4501:1-1-21 and Ohio Revised Code 4507.09.

4501:1-1-21 section E(8) states that "appropriate United States citizenship and immigration services (USCIS) documents that are original and valid" are good for providing valid proof of residency - in the eyes of USCIS, That includes the expired I-551&I-797 combo. They may give you a nonrenewable licence, which will actually be renewable with an unexpired green card, and  4507.09 Section E states that "A nonrenewable license expires on the same date listed on the legal presence documentation". That would pin your new Driver's licence expiry date at Green card expiry +18 months.

As for USCIS policy on 'valid documents', their detailing of what is valid for an I-9 would be the most useful: You can find details on automatic residency/EAD renewable documentation here. Specifically, look for the language "Note that a USCIS-issued Notice on Form I-797C acknowledging receipt of an EAD renewal application presented in combination with an expired EAD is considered an unexpired EAD under List A." and/or "Foreign passport that contains a temporary I-551 stamp or temporary I-551 printed notation."

    Hope this helps.

I've been using the app 'case tracker' to do some investigation on cases. The app lets to bulk check case statuses, up to 500 at a time in a sequential order, and filter by case type.

To visualize, USCIS case numbers for CSC are in the format:

    WAC-17-123-51234 | | | | | | | | Case# on particular day (Always starts with 5, though cases with a transfer notice don't follow this rule.) | | | Number of days after October 1st (Excluding weekends & holidays) | Financial year processed (In this case, Fscl. year 2017 starting Oct 1, 2016)
So I was trying to check what case numbers are approved and what aren't, and I wasn't having a lot of luck.

Do we have / know the first 5 digits of any CSC case number that's been approved? It would be easier than randomly guessing numbers and might be able to tell folks just how far along USCIS is processing cases at CSC.

For reference - My case number is WAC-17-118-xxxxx - if anyone hands out a case number please don't give the last 5 digits, and it's potentially personally identifying.

CSC filers - Checking the February 2017 thread, there are CSC filers now being approved (No N400, No transfer notice). Not many, but it's more than 0.

    Might not be long now!

Zcomuto got a reaction from Frips in Traveling on Extension Letter?
I just want to chime in and say what my experience was like flying Gatwick to Denver on an extension letter.

Gatwick - the Norwegian Air staff didn't look like they recognised the letter, but they accepted it without question. My boarding card had a note on it (that I assume was manually added) stating 'Green card exp has ext letter". I had to present this letter 3 times - ones in the checkin line for the security stamp on the passport, one at the actual checkin, and once when boarding the plane itself.

Denver - I was automatically directed to the electronic machines to scan the green card by the assistants there, who wasn't surprised that it didn't take (Errored, said document expired, directed me to manual screening with an actual person). I took this slip, my passport, green card, extension letter and customs declaration to the CBP checkpoint and wasn't asked a single question. Let me in without hassle.

No update to the online status, but I got the welcome notice in the mail today - dated June 5th. Looks like the case will be forever stuck on "fingerprint fee received", but the green card will be here shortly!

Several times, but none recently. Last I got an answer was on April 16th. However, I did receive an ombudsman reply on the 5th of May saying that a service centre in Floida was 'preparing to do something' with my case, been holding my breath since then. I was going to leave it until early June before contacting the Ombudsman back, but may open a SR just to see if it prompts action on my case.

It's a case of priorities, though.
The very livelihood of a bank's existence depends upon servers, somewhere, being active. Those aren't the ones the customer uses to connect to internet banking, those are the ones that store electronic records of accounts and connect with markets. Those things, if they go down, will loose 4 or 5 digits a second, so there's a massive desire to get 99.999% uptime. Likewise, the US government has important servers - extremely important ones - which carry priorities which are probably quite invisible (and most likely unimportant) to the average user.
A site like USCIS' immigration portal whilst isn, on a whole, important - it's the ability to check and it's a non-priority convenience. It being down won't cost a lot of money, but probably will cause a little of frustration and some people loosing faith, however there's no large, tangible loss so the extra cost of getting an on-call server technician out of bed on a weekend most likely isn't worth the investment.
About backups: likely, they do. The whole site will be stored somewhere, but achieving completely faultless backup is an impossible task, there's only so far you can go whilst still being economically feasible. Servers are not cheap devices.
The whole https://egov.uscis.gov/ domain seems down rather than just the checking service, so there's a server somewhere that's been disconnected for some reason.
