Hello All; 
 
I had my N-400 interview yesterday at Sacramento office. It was not a good experience overall, mainly because the IO was very unfriendly, rude and arrogant. here's how it went:
IO: Good morning (thick accent)
Me: Good morning
IO: Turn off your phone (very rudely)
Me: Yes
IO took my oath and then started questions:
IO: Give me your green card. 
Me: My conditional green card was taken away by this office at the time when they were stamping I551 stamp on my passport and I have not received the new one yet, i had applied for removal of conditions in April 2017. 
IO: Then why did you apply for N-400 if your one case is still pending (very rudely)
Me: I went with the USCIS website instruction and applied on the 3yrs rule basis. 
IO: I know that rule but why did you apply for another case when your one case is still pending (arrogantly)
Me: I didn't come across any information on USCIS website where it would tell me that you cannot apply for N-400 if your I-751 is pending (very respectfully)
IO: But you know that your one case is pending and still you applied for another one (very very rudely) and i cannot approve your this case when your I-751 is still pending (very rudely)
Me: I respect your processes and procedures. 
IO: flipping pages of my file and i noticed that he had my both files in front of him I-751 and N-400. Show me a proof that you and your spouse live together. (Angry tone)
Me: I didn't bring any proof for that because i wan't mentally ready for I-751 interview however, my wife and son are here with me and i have my car's registration that shows both our names and address. 
IO: You brought your wife that means you were ready for it (very rudely)
Me: Silent
IO: Show me your joint bak account statements (Angry tone)
Me: As i said i didn't bring any such documentation since it was not requested for in the N-400 interview letter. 
IO: No no it is there on the interview letter, took away my interview letter and starting reading it but couldn't find anything in it that shows that he is right so silently pushed it away. 
 
Long story short he asked me some other general questions about our relationship and then took the test and i passed that test. He very angrily told me that you have requested for a name change but we don't do that in this office so i cannot do it. you have to do it through a court process. He made that change to my application and asked me to sign for it. He then asked my wife and son to come in, he literally didn't ask her any question except her name and our address and thats it. 
 
He told me that he cannot make a decision on the N-400 case until I-751 is completed. later when i was driving back to home i got text msg about my case and that was for my I-751 showing that the new card was in process. He did tell me that you may receive the 10yrs green card but it is USCIS property and you have to bring it and surrender it at the time of Oath ceremony. 
 
Overall the IO officer was very rude and unprofessional. I hope my N-400 gets approve faster and i get done with all this. 
 
Does anyone else in Sacramento office had the same experience with them not being able to do the name change?

Hi Nexgen (and others): as promised, I am here posting up. So, turned out, Sacramento Field office (and any nearby office) does NOT do judicial ceremony. Technically, if one is really desperate about name change, they can go to a separate court with their naturalization certificate and all the other relevant papers and pay $400 something dollars to do the name change. I just asked this today at USCIS at the end of my interview. Hope this helps others! All the best!

Received letter for Interview! Scheduled for October 16th at St. Louis office. 

Online all day long. easy, to the point, no hassles, quick delivery. go for online. 

That was fast... plus now you have a bit more than 30 days to hear the good news. Since N400 interviews are held at your local offices so its scheduling really depends on how busy the local office is. I live in California so I imagine our local offices will be pretty busy and will take long to start working and scheduling our cases but again this is my assumption and you never know.
 
Also once you get a stamp on your passport they will take your expired GC, so you will only have the stamp on the passport and the 1yr extension letter in hand. 
 
 

Oh Gotcha... keep us updated. I traveling and this is one thing i don't want to miss while i am abroad. 
 
Btw; you can login to your online account and download a copy of your interview notice from there under the document section of it. It will be exactly the same as the one that you will be receiving in the mail. I got my biometric from there.

Agreed; i have already started filing up the online application for N-400 and will be clicking submit button soon as my 90 day window opens. Online seems to be a lot more efficient and easy as compare to paper. and by the way going green is the good option. 

I had biometrics appointment for 5/15 but i walked in early (today, 5/11) and had them done. Doing early walk in significantly changed my timeline during EAD process hoping for the same here. 
 
 

Received by Biometrics appointment on 5/6 for 5/15. will be attempting early walkin sometime this week, it worked last time but not sure not...

Hello All; i am back after 2years  Our 90 days window opens on 4/13/17 and we are planning to ship our case/documentation through USPS on 4/11/17 to be there by 4/13/17. fingers crossed... Here are the list of documents/proofs that i have gathered so far. 
 
Requirements for ROC:
1-      Original Form I-751 filled and signed by both fillers
2-      Copy of original I-551 (GC) front and back
3-      Proof of marriage
a.       Certified copy of Marriage certificate
b.       Certified copy of our baby's birth certificate
c.       20 Pictures
d.       Baby's passport/Sakina’s ID/My ID showing same last name
e.       Joint car insurance
f.        Joint bank account statments 
g.       Joint rental agreement
 
4-      2015 and 2016 Tax returns
5-      Travel itnerary's of our vacations trips over the past 2-3yrs.
6-      Utility bill
 
 
I am not planning on sending a gigantic folder to CSC but only the ones mentioned above seems to be the utmost important ones.

In my case i did not send any letter of explaination. I just had marriage license attached and kept at the back of my mind that i might get an RFE for marriage certificate but i didn't get any RFE and case was processed based on marriage license. 
 
 

mine was approved on 4th day of biometrics and was sent to me the week after approval.
