Welcome to another monthly thread for those going through NVC!
Before posting questions, please read the wiki I wrote on the NVC process here. Once you're done, read it one or two more times to really understand it
For up to date time frames, you can view my spreadsheet here. If you would like to be added (or have your entry updated), then please fill out the form here (please read the instructions at the top carefully, especially the update part as people aren't filling the form out correctly [they're filling out information not needed]).
P.S. I will be much less active in reading (and thus answering) posts in these monthly threads, so don't bother asking me questions directly. Just post them here for everyone to see and someone will come along to answer. Remember to be patient
Good luck to all! (And congratulations now on all the progress that will be made this month!)
Edit: If you want to see a visual of the NVC process, please view my flowchart here.

He was very humble about it! He did chuckle a little and then he said "there's no hall of fame at the National Visa Center, but thank you!"

Saylin, is there any way to "pin" your intro post to the top of every page? I've been on other forums where this can happen - maybe a moderator can do this? It sure would be helpful - both for newbies and for us "oldies" that need to obsess...

You're welcome
I haven't sent the package yet, I'm still waiting for my case #. But I am planning to send my Venezuelan bank statements and a written explanation that states the amount of money we currently own and its equivalent in US dollars.
There is no need to translate them, NVC only cares about the equivalent in USD, the officer in the consulate/embassy will be the one who reviews the foreign statements. You could always highlight the available amount of money in each statement to facilitate the work for NVC.
I will send statements of the last 12 months ( I read somewhere that they usually want to see 12months), and only the last 6 months of a joint account (because it was opened 6 months ago).
Oh, and the money conversion should be done with the "official rate". The consulars know that the official rate is kind of a lie (lol) but it doesn't matter because legally you should use that number.
Good luck with your journey,
-Alejandra

Thanks! And by the way, VJ not only limits the amount of thumbs up you can give per day but they also limit the amount of emoticon you can put in one post. ( I went a little crazy in my cc post!) LOL!!! I had to delete some before I could post it!

Good morning people,
I know a lot of us hate the weekends right now because the NVC and USCIS are not working, I know it is hard to wait, but
Let's all just sit back and relax a little bit! the high stress this process causes us is really taking a big toll on all of us!
Good luck to all of us to get reunited with our families and loved ones soon!
God bless you

Yes. If the person was not required to file then they need to include a letter stating why they were not required for file (made under the amount, were unemployed, in school etc...)
They use an electronic fingerprint system.
If he was convicted he will also need the court records, not just the fingerprint records.
BTW each police check is different. The one I got from the RCMP looks different than ones people have obtained from commissionaires.

just called and talked to Paige. Another SUPER NICE person. very helpful. I ask the same question to all the operators I talk to .
1. Did I make a mistake by sending the revised AOS before the incorrect AOS was reviewed?
No, I was about to suggest that you send it in right away if you know what the mistakes were. You saved yourself time
2. will they just process the revised version and finish processing the rest?
Yes, it was a good thing that you sent the new AOS right away.
3. what about the DS260? I didn't put 10 years employment history for my husband?
that is fine, you can just add that info at the interview.
So She gave me the same answers as Alan did last night. Joy is the only one who told me not to do anything until I get the checklist. ( ole' Nasty Pants)
I know I am obsessing but I am so stressed over this. And the lawyer hasn't even called me asking where the documents are so he can send them. What a waste of money

Nice words spoken with heartfelt emotions . It is a big step to leave everything behind that you know. I did it myself in 2005 and came with a suitcase and my dog and it was the craziest thing I have ever done, but here we are 8 years later with 2 beautiful little girls and our life together. It's worth the wait My journey now is slightly different than y'alls as it is my parents that I am petitioning, but the waiting and separation still sucks.
What we need on here is a thread where we can post happy photos of being reunited with our families

Congrats on the interview date and good luck to your hubby!!!
Thanks for those beautiful words. I'm the beneficiary and I've been married for more than two years now. The last time I saw my husband was on our second anniversary in January. I have lived with my parents my whole life and it breaks my heart knowing that I'm going to have to leave them soon I knew this will happen eventually but only God knows how much I'm going to miss my family.
In the other hand... I miss my husband more than words can say and I'm happy we're finally going to be together soon!!! Everything in God's own time...
Genesis 2:24 "Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife and they will be one flesh".
Lol you're so funny

Apparently NVC was just waiting for me to lose all hope, sit back and get comfortable before throwing us for a loop. Yesterday evening we received an email notification for a May 19 interview in London. We're very surprised, very excited, and also a bit stressed as we accelerate the timeline to get ready for the move I feel a little bad line jumping out of the June interview group, because I know how left behind I felt watching others do the same. I wish I could assign you all interview dates myself. The wait sucks, but you're so close to the end now. I can't wait to see each of you sharing your good news as it comes
Bit of a tangent here, but something I've been thinking about... with our interview date scheduled and everything suddenly so near at hand, I'm finding myself more and more in awe of the incredible sacrifices all the beneficiaries (or applicants, to use the NVC-appropriate term!) here are making for their spouses. I'm so full of love and appreciation for everything my husband is doing to bring our lives together, and I know many of the members here are bound to have even more difficult situations and transitions than we're expecting. I give you guys all the credit in the world. You're amazing. The love and commitment it takes to survive this process and THEN give up everything you've known in life except your spouse is incredible. I hope you all have wonderful, supportive, thankful partners, because you sure as heck deserve it.
Yeah, I'm feeling warm and fuzzy

so, I just talked to Cindy at the NVC. Very nice lady !!
Documents were logged in on 4-15-14 but nothing for the revison.
But I asked a few questions...
Will the NVC kick back my AOS completed by the lawyer with the wrong income amount EVEN THOUGH it is still higher than the poverty level?
She said , no BUT you want it to be correct for the Embassy.
Is it going to be a problem that I didn't go back 10 years for my husbands employment on the DS260?
She said no, they won't kick it back for that. They get much more serious mistakes on the DS260. We can just provide the additional info at the interview.
so for now I can relax.
Oh yea, and I asked if they are open tomorrow.... ( I had to ask)
She said YES ! ! ! ! !
HOORAY !! !

My husband thinks the same with me. I am constantly talking about it and he thinks I'm neurotic and obssessed
I'm just tired of waiting and I want things to run smoothly. Sometimes I think he doesn't understand that. I'm ranting...

alejandreska reacted to JSully in N-400 Part 1 - option 1 or 2?
Option 1 is much better. It's processed much faster than Option 2 since it does not require proof of marriage. I was qualified for both options and selected Option 1 and seems like I'll be done in less than 3 months. In other threads, someone was mentioning that immigration officer changed the selection to Option 1 from option 2 at the interview. Less work for them as well.

Thanks!!!!
NO! Can you believe that the agent didn't tell me? She even filed a service request for me- I have the reference number! Like how is that possible? Doesn't that just tell you how disorganized they are? It must be because the system hasn't been updated for like a week or more at the VSC. She actually at first told me, oh, it looks that you case is at the NBC so I'll check the processing times for there. I was so surprised! I said, no, it got transferred to VSC so then she checked those time. She didn't even know where my app was at, never mind that I was approved days ago But I'm holding the hard copy approvals for both the I-130 and the !-129F right now, so I guess that's all that count. Makes no sense, right?

I can't believe it. I'm on vacation visiting my husband and his family in Japan when I get this email from NVC. I thought maybe it was a checklist, but nope! It was an email to tell us that his interview is scheduled for next month in Tokyo!! I didn't even know our case was complete! We're both excited! Especially since we were together when we got this happy news!

CASE COMPLETE!! Just called for an update and Rick said "Well, today's your lucky day! We finished reviewing your documents today and you have a case complete!" I was so ecstatic I didn't even ask about interviews in Dakar but will call back to do so tomorrow. Alhamdulilaahi!
Thanks everyone for your help, especially Saylin!
A few things for people who might be curious. We had no checklists, but lots of places where we thought we'd have problems:
-for the IV package, we sent in copies of the marriage translation and copies of the marriage certification (instead of originals with the bright red stamp) and we got no checklist, so maybe copies for translations are okay?
-The joint sponsor only gave last years taxes, and no proof of employment.
-The AOS forms of myself and the joint sponsor were full of blanks. I pretty much followed that example on VJ that has a bunch of blanks and had no problems.
-as a USC living abroad with only foreign-based income, I wrote my current income as 0, wrote a letter explaining it and sent no employment letter.
-The DS260 was full of strange addresses due to lack of street names, etc and we had no problems
...so whether we were a case that happened to squeeze by with errors or it's just NVC doesn't care, we don't know, but for anyone stressing over little errors, you might make it!
Good luck everyone!
