One should NOT forget the following: if YOU have a problem with WHOEVER sits in the WH (Trump, Hillary, Obama, Sanders or Mickey Mouse) do NOT come here. You should never forget that YOU have to assimilate to the country/society you move to. NOT vice versa. I am kind of fed up reading some of the boards VJ. All that whining, complaining about the process, the country, the society etc. etc. If you do NOT like it, stay away! And leave the "seat" for those who have a GENUINE wish to participate in the American dream and the pursuit of happiness. I am not "attacking" anyone in particular. But it is just something that increasingly gets on my nerves. God bless America.

I do not see what gun control has to do with checking on WHO is immigrating? Maybe you should open your eyes to the fact that ILLEGAL immigrants and people who immigrate and "behave badly, negatively or criminally" are hurting ALL of America and the image of us LEGAL immigrants. Especially AS a legal immigrant, and one who sees first hand HOW ridiculous, expensive and lengthy the whole process is, I side with those folks who enforce the immigration laws of this country to the letter. To keep it short: if you post no negative and/or criminal stuff or stuff that shows you're of bad character, you should not have to worry about them looking at your profiles. And yes, I agree with those who stated that the article is exaggerating the whole issue. Wishing you luck on your immigration-journey!

I got that update weeks ago (december 2016 filer). Mine says Feb 26 though. I haven't had any contact from USCIS what so ever. There are a few different theories as to what is happening, but I believe that the updates we're getting on the receipt number that used to not work are meaningless..
How did you handle the expiration of the extension letter? I assume yours ran out too?
-
Vermont filer March 2017. NOTHING happened. And today I called, because my extension letter ran out and I wanted to know what to do! So the guy just told me to schedule an appt. Of course NONE available for the next 14 days. Then, just out of curiosity I checked the EAC number that was on the extension letter. This number NEVER worked before. And voila: it now says that my case was received at the local office March 5th. But nobody announced anything. REALLY wondering what is going on here! Did ANY of you folks have a fast approval after the transfer? If so: HOW fast? Thank you all for your answers!

Hi all....
Maybe somebody can bring me up on speed here. I am a March17 Filer. My "substitute extension letter" expires by the end of this week. So, technically, by the end of the week I might be considered "undocumented"? This process is really ridiculous! It started in June 2013 and I/we have followed every instruction and the process to the letter of the law. It is aggravating. I want this over and move on with our lives. Even more hysterical is that I already would be eligible to file for my N-400 in a month due to the 3-year-rule under K-1! Oh my.....

Good morning. Please let me say the following first: I do not know the details, I do not want to hurt anybody's feelings and it is NOT on me to judge anybody for their actions. But I sometimes get a "weird feeling" of discomfort when I read through threads like this one. And yes, I also understand that LOVE, FAMILY and HAPPINESS stand above all......except for the law.
Obviously this man came here illegally. Millions do. And I do not support that at all since there are legal ways to apply for entry/residence. But besides breaking the immigration law, he drove without license, got caught by ICE then lied to authorities, when choosing voluntary leave and staying. And now you hope for a way for this to just go away and not be an issue when trying to adjust his status?
I do not see any way for him to be adjusted. And if you find a lawyer that CAN get this done, it will cost a huge sum of money to achieve.
With all this being said, I still wish you best of luck and hope you will find a way to legalize his situation.

Hi all,
I have the following question to which I could not find an answer in the guide, or I have overlooked it.
I am married to a US citizen. Therefore I know that my "wait period" for naturalization is 3 years instead of 5. BUT: do the 3 years include the two years under conditions and the temporary one given while waiting for the processing of I-751 (lifting of conditions).
I am very grateful for an answer from someone in similar situation or who knows the law.
Thank you very much!

Happy Easter! Just a quick reminder and tip: be aware that AOS can take a very long time. In my case it took 14 months. The initial EAD is valid for one year. In order to not get in trouble, you should make sure, that you EXTEND your initial EAD way before it expires. EAD extension takes approx 3 months, Without valid EAD you could lose yous job! So if your AOS is not over after 8 months, I strongly advise you to start the process for an extension of your EAD!

Do not get me wrong here....but what you are asking in here is simply not right. 99% of people in here are folks who follow the law, do everything the LEGAL way. We all went through the hardship of doing so. You have chosen not to go the difficult way. And now you are asking us for a way to skip it all? I wish you all the best. But: you have to go home. To your family. And then try to come back. The LEGAL way. Wish you best of luck.

All of us have had a looooong and unpleasent journey with this LEGAL immigration process. They are always quick with requests, taking our money. But not in shape to deliver the service they are paid for. It is simply not logical...the whole thing. If they are understocked with workforce, they should hire more people. Or be upfront and tell us..."hey guys...this process takes up to 12 months or more". I am only angry because I have been promised new timeframes repeatedly, simply to find them passing again and again.
Hello everybody!! Good news... I got mail from USCIS saying that my Green Card has been ordered & soon I will be receiving it in the mail. Anytime within 30 days. I had already booked my ticket to India for Jan 19 & was prepared to go on AP & EAD. Hopefull to receive it before I leave. Fingers crossed!! So guys, don't lose hope, you too will hear something positive very soon.... All the best!!
CONGRATS to you two!!! :-)

LOL...thank you Derwood! Your words in God^s (USCIS's) ear.......

I'm in the same situation with you, my field office is Buffalo, NY. Got a letter for potential interview waver in June, as well. Frustrating, I know. The letter that you got in June, was it an official letter for an interview waiver, or did it say that your interview may be waived, or something along those lines?
Nope, in the letter back then it stated "potential waiver". Next and last thing I heard was the letter from Nov24th, after my new inquiry, with the announcement, that within 45 days I would have notice of approval or denial. These 45 passed last Friday. So I called again (still TRYING to stay friendly and calm). All they said was, that they will start a new inquiry and that I should hear from them around Jan 30. It is really getting on my nerves. We are close to ONE YEAR for processing an AOS!?!??!?! Sounds like a Banana Republic to me....not like one of the most modern and organzied Nations in the world. I find it very scrupulous.
-
It is MORE than 10 months now, and NO change at all! I filed an inquiry. Got a letter that stated all was fine, approx another 40 days. That was a month ago. I am TRULY tired of waiting and I ask myself, what these guys and girls at the B'more office are doing all day?? It all appears so very unprofessional. I mean it. And if it REALLY is the case, as one poster wrote here, that those who got married after overstaying their tourist visa (btw a federal crime!!!) are being handled BEFORE those who did everything LEGAL and correct, I get even more angry. This is NOT the way it should be. Rewarding miscunduct? Seriously.....???
-
Hey Steve and Hazel the letter stated "potential weaiver". Have filed a complaint two weeks ago...

It is been 9 months since filing now! At the latest status update on processing for Baltimore per end of September they state that they're working on MARCH applications. WHich is already a month AFTER I filed and it is NOVEMBER now.
I am completely fed up with those guys. Filed a case inquiry, but am not hopeful it'll help.
Wanted to fly "home" for xmas and see my folks for the first time since I got here a year ago.....but it is very unlikely that it'll be possible. Meanwhile it would also be too late for an advance parole. THANK YOU VERY MUCH USCIS

I need to VENT:
the AOS process is taking WAY too long. I am in the process from a K-1. Being prcessed @ Baltimore. Filed and accepted in early february, biometrics mid march, interview WAIVER letter in June, ans STILL nothing.
I truly wonder, what these folks at that field office are doing all day long? it is 9 (!!!!) friggin months now! I am truly fed up and still can't do anything. But it is proof that the work ion these offices is truly bad. And it is not the case, that they would have benn "flooded" with applications these last 6 monhs or so.
What are YOUR experiences?

Hi Jade I would wait until he's got a job! If they question his income and see no proof that he can support you it'll only lengthen a process that is ALREADY a stresstest. RFE's and AP are really bothering. Good luck in your venture.
-
I can tell you why nobody is answering: they do not want to hurt your feelings by saying: "hey you created this mess by your own fault ( putting wrong dates) so stop complaining about and keep with the flow of a sotuation you created YOURSELF!" Never the less I wish you luck.

Hey Misha'sgirl...thank you for that enlighting answer! Appreciate. Could you tell me if a civil sergeon is a docter I can find in any city?
-
I Thank you guys for your answers.
So I do NOT file I-693 at all?
Yes...the EAD expedite is worth a try. But that particular job offer will be gone in January anyway :-(

Hi all
I arrived last Friday. Wonderful to be FINALLY united. Will apply for SSN tomorrow, and register the marriage license. So far so good. But I just found out, that I have to fill the form I-693 together with AOS. Are you kidding me? My medical is only 2 months old. WHY should I have to take another medical AGAIN?
2nd thing is just an annotation: this country expects (and they are right to do so) that no new arriveal will be a burdon to the community. But it seems REALLY rediculous that the time from arriving POE until AOS/EAD is 5 months!!!!! This makes no sense at all! I had a very lucrative job offer and can NOT work, due to the ridicule of this system. THIS is REALLY annoying! We all have gone througfh a hell of administrative BS. So let us just move on with our life's!
Any way....sorry had to vent. Any replies regarding the I-693 (if its really a necessity) are more than welcome.
Wishing you all the best

Please take no offense here but sometimes I TRULY wonder how illegal activities, like immigration fraud, stealing SSN or fake documents are seen as "normal" and ok, simply because millions act the same? This does not in all aspects relate to your post but is meant as a general staement. Never the less hope for a positive outcome for you two.

These are bad news but I'd like to thank you all for your hints and support!
So maybe theres a chance for an expedite if I can present a letter from the employer?

I do not care what YOU came here for. That is entirely your private thing. But me too I would NOT have come here if not for my wonderful wife. But what I am absolutely convinced is the following: no matter WHERE you move and what for WHAT reason: it is YOU adjusting to the society and culture you move to, not the other way around.
