ColGil got a reaction from bradoony in Mortgage application using extension letter
This was a condition of my mortgage (US Bank) so here's what I submitted to the underwriters:

    photocopy of my expired GC,
    photocopy of the extension letter,
a cover explaining that although the GC is expired my residency is permanent and I filed to remove the conditions of my residency on mm-dd-yy and what the USCIS current processing times state
a screenshot of the USCIS processing times, with the current time highlighted
a copy of the USCIS webpage which shows the process for having conditions removed

They accepted this as proof of residency.  I've attached a screenshot of the letter I sent with personal information removed.
  2. Thanks

The only notification I got by email/text and update online was "CARD WAS MAILED TO YOU".
4 days later I got the approval notification letter in the mail (paper mail).
Two days later (7 days from email/text notification) I got the green card.

I did not file for N-400 either.

Being more methodical about the evidence you submit might be more effective. Maybe the framework below might help?

Note: I use a star rating to represent the (subjective) strength of some examples of the evidence (*** for strong/verifiable/difficult to fake; ** moderate; * weak). Using multiple corroborating evidence for each section below from the date of marriage to the present, you want to show that you both:

    Cohabit (CRITICAL):
Government IDs with same address*** Signed lease agreements with both names** Bills in both names for utilities that are home-specific (electric, gas, cable, land lines but not cell phones)** Renters insurance policy in both names** Correspondence in both names* Your letter to USCIS/affidavits explaining your living circumstances* Etc. Co-mingle finances (CRITICAL):
    Assets jointly owned
Titles for significant assets (real estate, cars,  collectibles, etc.) in both names*** Joint financial account (bank, investment) statements with transaction history** Your letter to USCIS/affidavits explaining your financial practices* Liabilities jointly responsible for
Tax returns/transcripts showing Married Filed Joint status*** Joint credit card statements** Joint mortgage/car loan/personal loan docs** Signed lease agreements with both names** Utility bills in both names** Joint health insurance documentation** Your letter to USCIS/affidavits explaining your financial practices* Share life experiences:
Birth certificates of children you've had together** Travel documentation in both names (boarding passes/hotel receipts > bookings) ** Well chosen pictures of you together (e.g., to support travel above, or child birth above, or other major family events)* Shared memberships* Your letter to USCIS/affidavits explaining your shared experiences* Plan for the future together:
Beneficiary nominations on retirement accounts** Child savings accounts** Wills*** Estate trust documents*** Power of attorney*** Joint life insurance policies*** Your letter to USCIS/affidavits explaining your future plans* I would aim to provide at least 2 of the evidence in each section (the weaker the evidence you have, the more the corroboration you might need). Where you're lacking, explain why in your letter, and be creative in looking for alternative evidence. Remember: where possible, for each evidence, provide from date of marriage to the present (e.g., travel docs from Year 1 AND Year 2 AND Year X). Hope this helps.

I think you should read about Loving vs Virginia
If something like what you said were to happen, i think that story will be akin to it.

Quick note for BritishInfusion - sorry it took me so long, just catching up on forums today. Regarding the DS-260, I did mean the CONFIRMATION page. They did check the paper copy outside the embassy where the were no access to computers. I did take the full version along with me, but I had spare copies of EVERYTHING we submitted regardless of electronic submission or manual.

Just a quick update to let you know I had my interview today and was APPROVED!
    Not many questions:
You had a short courtship (more a statement, but took it as question)
When did you last see each other?
Why haven't you been to the states since then?
Why hasn't your spouse been to the UK since then?
    APPROVED! Woop woop
PS will add a full embassy review soon

Yeah the guy who interviewed me brought up our short courtship, but not as a question, just making reference to it. I took it as a question and said that when it's love it's right and you can't put a timestamp on that. He jokingly jumped back and put his hands in the air and "There's no one judging you here" and let out a laugh, I laughed too then he moved on. Does it really matter how long people court? He didn't seem to think so.
Good luck on getting your CC!!!! Fingers crossed for you Soloenta, it's been far too long.
Thanks everyone. And good luck for your impending interviews too!!!

Hi everyone! Visa was approved today! Quite easy to be honest! Don't know what we were worried about. We were only in there for an hour and 40 mins. Most the time just waiting! The man interviewing us just asked how we met when we married and why my wife moved here first (due to job) and then he asked if I was ever denied a visa which was a no- and then he said your visa is approved!!! Never mentioned domicile at all either. All in all, we are extremely excited and will post a review later .
    Good luck to everyone!

Agent Tessa just informed me that my interview is scheduled for October 31st. This date is really not what I wanted to hear. When we started this process, as we had married just the two of us, without a ceremony and reception, we had planned to have the ceremony and reception once I was in America. We decided to plan the "wedding" for 18 months after we filed our application. The ceremony is on Nov 7th, so an Oct 31st interview date means I will likely miss the wedding, or best case scenario arrive a couple of days before.
I really hope the packet arrives with the embassy soon so I can get an earlier interview. I'd even take 1 week earlier if it means I can get at least a week in the states before the ceremony. Very bittersweet news

Thanks guys. (sorry took me so long to thank you, I was away at the weekend with no internet, back into the real world today)
Good luck to all those waiting/expecting/hoping/wishing/praying for CC's this week. NVC seemed to be throwing Case Complete's at us like crazy on Friday, here's hoping that trend continues.

sorry that message pooped up on you like that !
You should read Saylin's wiki. The link is right here. There is a ton of useful information. Here is what it says about your message:
    "
Note: if you're getting an error message ("Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time…" or "This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted…" or "You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information."), do NOT panic. This is actually good news! If you just got your case number, then this message means NVC is inputting your case in their system. If you get this message a few days after case number generation, then it's a good possibility that NVC is invoicing your AOS bill. And if this message appears a few days after DS-261 acceptance, then there's a good chance the IV bill is being invoiced. " - Yoda

We made it home last night!!!
Minneapolis POE was super easy. The first CBP was a bit grumpy and when my husband showed the flimsy white 'do not open' package (it traveled through 4 countries with no tears!) the agent said 'oh yay, another one'. He said my husband needs to go to the Passport Control room and wait for an officer there. I asked if I could go back with him and he said 'yea if you want, just warning you, you're going to be there for a while'. I made a joke that I'll just go home and get the car then. Went down like a led balloon!
We go to the room where I made another crack that we were sent to the principal's office. The second CBP heard me and said 'this is NOT the principal's office, this is the GOOD room!' He asked one question, when did we file. We said Sept 2013 and he said 'that's it?!' I gave him a Madea look and he said 'some people wait years for this!' I told him I was fully aware. Since I kept chiming in throughout the conversation, the CBP dude asked if my photo should be on the green card (while laughing). He said he tries to have a sense of humor and I told him it was appreciated as we've read horror stories. Naturally, he said don't believe everything we read.
Visa stamped, signed, and my husband finger printed. We asked about the social security card and he said they have no control over that, since it was completed on the DS-260 which is a DoS document (makes sense).
