I went through it 2 years in Fort Lauderdale, and sadly, they did not at that point!
Keeping my fingers crossed that things have changed, at least in Miami! I often think about you folks caught in this COVID processing mess. I certainly wish you the best!

Congratulations, everyone! 🙌
I became a citizen almost 2 years ago (May 2018), but still love to stop by this thread and read ALL of the wonderful stories we get to share with one another! ❤️ We've all come a long way, but I remember our life under DOMA, and what it did to us as if it were yesterday! 😪Keep sharing your wonderful success stories and all the best for the future!
P.S. I still look at my blue passport with disbelief...! LOL I can't believe it actually happened!

Hope you get processed ASAP!

I know. It is hard to understand how they process cases.
No kidding!
2 hours ago, JCOaklandParkOct1 said:One thing I have been wondering, though, is whether this has anything to do with the fact that my wife and I applied together.
Could be, but I doubt it. I think it has more to do with the fact of sending a paper application vs online filing (my case).
2 hours ago, JCOaklandParkOct1 said:So I can only guess that it is harder to find open slots for scheduling for 2 people instead of 1.
Also this potentially, sure.
2 hours ago, JCOaklandParkOct1 said:Nikkosan, where did you do your Oath ceremony?
At the local field office in Oakland Park, FL.
2 hours ago, JCOaklandParkOct1 said:how long after the interview was it scheduled for?
Two months, but only because I had another application pending with them, otherwise, at the Oakland Park, FL field office, it usually doesn't take more than a few weeks to go through the Oath Ceremony.
Best of luck for a speedy processing now!

I finally got my interview date! Hang in there everyone. Your time is near.
I can't believe it's taking them this long for paper filers...! UGH!
I applied online last November, interviewed in March, and became a citizen in May!
Here's to a prompt conclusion of your immigration journey.

Finally got a notification today saying my interview has been scheduled! Thank you, God! For those of you still waiting for an interview, hang in there, you will get it soon!
Yay!
I was out of the country for a while and didn't follow VJ and this thread.
I came back specifically to see whether there was any news for you, and I'm glad to see there is!
Glad to know you passed your interview and that you will be scheduled for an Oath Ceremony soon! You will be looking at that blue passport for months to come, I tell ya! Also, the best feeling coming back with a warm "Welcome home!" by the CBP officer at the MIA airport. All the best!

It was an emotional one for sure. I really went in to the ceremony thinking I might be rejected, my expectations were so low. When I got there, I filled out the 445 form and proceeded to a long table with at least 20 to 30 officers. She looked at my 445 form and she looked at my question 1 that i checked "YES" since my husband passed 3 days after I passed the interview, I thought they might reject me there, but surprisingly, they told me if i wanted the certificate to say married or widowed, so I was kind of confused, i thought it was up to them. The officer told me it is up to me, i guess probably it was because they did approve my request to expedite the oath without notifying me, but I chose widowed, but the certificate I got later says "married", but I don't really think it matters. I was there for about 3 hours. There were about 4000 new citizens there being sworn in, and I cried so much because I wish my husband were there celebrating with me. I had a bit difficulty finding my car after i got my certificate. I filled out the form to register to vote too. I will always apply for my passport this afternoon. I guess USCIS always has the absolute discretion to approve or deny, and I made a convincing argument trying to get them to approve me on the day of the interview, but i guess they approved our application posthumously. What a journey, I am so glad it is over. It has been a rough ride emotionally too. I am so proud of being an American citizen now. Oh, I also took a screenshot front and back of the 445 form signed by me and stamped by USCIS, my lawyer told me i did everything and there's nothing to worry about now and she congratulated me too. I hope it will be your turn soon!! Thank you so much for your on going support. Let's hope it will be your turn soon.
Reading this makes me so happy and also sad at the same time. I'm sorry Stan couldn't be with you in person to share the joy with you, but I'm happy there's still some humanity in our government's machine, and that you were able to be sworn in.
Welcome to the club (I still look at my US passport from time to time and find it hard to believe that I'm a US citizen!).
All the very best for the future.

Noted, MHZ. Thank you for the suggestion, I appreciate it.
Back in the old continent now, already basking in the glory of coming back through Customs as a US citizen! No more paper to show for proof of my relationship, etc. etc... It'll take a while getting used to it...!

Thanks for the info. For same day service, i believe its worth the amount. Congratulation.
Thank you! And yeah, I also do believe it is worth it, however you do need to show proof of impending travels... They won't leg you otherwise.

How much did that cost you?
The passport agency website has a calculator, but for sake of simplicity, the passport booklet, card, agency fees, and expedited fee, it came to a total of $235.

Thank you so much, I think I should not worry too much about the 2 updates as some who have done their interviews also got the identical updates. Will keep you posted, I will go to the ceremony and see what happens, I will take my 751 approval notice and my conditional green card, and my husband's death certificate, and see what happens. Thank you, so happy you are a citizen now.
Excellent, that sounds like a well thought out plan.
As I said, hopefully the green card arrives before the ceremony (which is the point we were trying to make from the beginning, that having a naturalization ceremony doesn't halt the issuing process of the green card as the USCIS call center person told you), if not, it will come, I'm confident of that. The updates as you know sometimes need to be taken with a grain of salt. You were approved for the I-751, and also for the N-400 (even with the awful news), so what remains to be seen is whether they will allow you to take the oath, and I'm rooting for you on that.
Keep us all posted, and once again thank you for your good wishes and congratulations!

Thank you for being supportive.
It's the least I can do...
3 minutes ago, Zombie69 said:I really don't understand why I got the 2 updates after the 751 approval which make it a bit unsettling to me, from approval back to transfer?
As you know, sometimes the updates go backward, or don't really make sense. I think this is one of those situations.
3 minutes ago, Zombie69 said:But my oath has been scheduled, that means might 751 had to be approved for them to approve the 400 despite my husband's passing.
Correct, that's also what I think.
3 minutes ago, Zombie69 said:I talked to a few tier 2 officers who told me just to disregard the updates and wait for the card or attend the oath, but you got the card in production first, and the approval notice. I got the approval notice and the strange updates like most 751 pending applicants. I may get an update next week, hope I will get a new update next week before the ceremony for the peace of mind. Congrats again.
I would do just that: go to the oath ceremony, and surrender your conditional card (they will most likely ask you for that, I heard that countless times at the ceremony).
If your timeline after the approval is anything like mine, you should also get an update soon, so fingers crossed on that, perhaps even this week, or who knows, on the day of the actual ceremony. Either way I hope you get to be sworn in! Keep your chin up!
All the best, be it for a permanent green card long overdue, or a much deserved naturalization ceremony.

Congratulations!!! Truly happy for you,
Thanks!
10 hours ago, Zombie69 said:so if you got that text message of your card being mailed right after the oath, I could still get the green card update as well.
Absolutely, and that's why I wanted you to know that despite the naturalization certificate being issued and all, my card still went into production AFTER the certificate was issued.
10 hours ago, Zombie69 said:My oath is on the 23rd, you are right, your situation goes against what the tier 2 officers told me about the possibility of getting my green card regardless anyway. The outcome of my oath is uncertain due to the passing of my husband 3 days after the interview, but they approved me and scheduled my oath anyway, so I will do what I do, be honest, fill out my 445, and see what happens. I will take my 751 approval letter and my conditional green card with me to the oath if I don't have my green card by the oath.
That's what I did, I attached my conditional green card to the form, and that was it. Of course, I didn't have to deal with what you're personally dealing with. I still hope you will be successful; I'm rooting for you.
10 hours ago, Zombie69 said:One question, I got two updates after my approval saying my case has been transferred to another office and another update says my case has been transferred to a new office. Did your 751 get these updates too before they told you they mailed your card? Congrats again.
No, I did not.
This is the entire history for the I-751:

My husband had his Oath Ceremony today at Fort Smith, Arkansas. Very nice ceremony with 24 people granted citizenship from 7 different countries. So happy this long process is finally over. Wishing everyone success.
It's incredible how we have "almost" the same starting date for the I-129F (I started on 8-13-13, and you started on 8-14-13!), and the very same date for the end of the process with the oath ceremony!

Congratulations. Do you mean you recieved your United States Passport right away? How is that possible pls tell me more about it
Thanks!
You can find all the info at the following address:
In a nutshell, to receive a passport right away (NOT at the ceremony, of course, but through a passport agency, should you have one within driving distance), you need to be traveling within a couple of days from the request (mine, for example, was a same day travel request).

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to update you on my situation.
Took the Oath of Allegiance yesterday and became a US citizen (with 156 fellow new US citizens from 41 countries). Also got my passport right away at the Miami Passport Agency as I'm traveling internationally tomorrow (I actually had a flight yesterday afternoon but the passport was not issued in time for that), and registered to vote online.
The funny thing I wanted to share is that as soon as I left the passport office, I also received an unrelated text message that my permanent green card was mailed to me. So the timeline from approval to mailed was less than 3 weeks (April 24 / May 11). This is for all of you that have not applied for citizenship but were approved for the ROC and have not received your card. Things seem to be moving.
All the best!

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to update you on my situation.
Took the Oath of Allegiance yesterday and became a US citizen. Also got my passport right away at the Miami Passport Agency as I'm traveling internationally tomorrow (I actually had a flight yesterday afternoon but the passport was not issued in time for that).
The funny thing I wanted to share is that as soon as I left the passport office, I also received an unrelated text message that my permanent green card was mailed to me (@Zombie69, this also goes against what the agent told you on the phone, fortunately for you). So the timeline from approval to mailed was less than 3 weeks (April 24 / May 11). This is for all of you that have not applied for citizenship but were approved for the ROC and have not received your card. Things seem to be moving.
All the best!

Has any of you spoken to a Tier 2 officer to understand when you will get the Greencard mailed to you?
No, I have not, particularly not with a passport appointment already scheduled for the very same day I get naturalized...! LOL
I'm sure eventually it'll make it to my mailbox, and I will gladly surrender it to my local field office or wherever it needs to be sent, however, the minute I was approved, and subsequently also approved for my N-400, I completely and justifiably lost interest.

VERY VERY excited for you! My interviewing officer was truly amazing and she made me feel at ease right from the beginning. I did the combo interview I-751 first with my spouse and then the N400 on my own, so essentially the ROC interview was the ice-breaker!
We'll look forward to hearing from you once you're done.
