Thanks @syrialord  and Good Luck to you as well on your upcoming interview. Here is how it went :

Got to the uscis office  45 mins ahead of time. Stayed in the car for 15 mins going through my docs and all immigration applications i had. Checked in 30 mins before the interview and was finally called in at twenty minutes later than scheduled time. The interviewer was nice guy and he apologized about things running late but once we got to his room, there was another person -I was like whats going on , why two people interviewing me but the officer explained the other person was training so the person will be observing. I was like phew .

The interviewer swore me in and started with civics test. Answered the first six right and he moved on to the reading and writing. That was over quickly too. Then he went over my application, verified all the info and asked me to verify my name, address etc and said the same info will be used in my Naturalization certificate. Once, i had verified the info and gave him my signature, he printed out the receipt and said he believes i should be approved and he will forward that info to his supervisor for final approval and he walked me to the waiting area.

Came home and within two hours , I got a notification saying my oath ceremony has been scheduled and will receive a notice in mail. Now waiting on the date for oath. The interview was very easy and smooth, IMO.

    All about the Interview.
    Location: Lawrence, MA on 04/11/2018
    Time: 3 10 pm

I arrived at the location 30 minutes early. There was plenty of seating( alomost 200 seats with just 20 occupied). They called my name at around 3 15pm.

    The Interview:
Had my finger print checked to ensure I was the same person in the application. Asked me a ton of question from the N-400 application which were mostly 'No' and in between sprang up one or two 'Yes' questions. The interviewer asked me about my current job and then proceeded to the civics question. They were the following:

who did the US fight in World War 2? what is an amendment? who is the governor of the state? what is one promise you make when you become a US citizen? who is the first president? what movement tired to end the racial discrimination? I was asked to write down 'The president lives in the White House' and read the statement 'Who lives in the White House'?
It was an easy interview considering how stressed I was initially and the interviewer was jovial and kept me calm with her smile.

    After the Interview:
I got a white printed paper saying that I passed the English Test and US history and Government test. It further added that my application has been recommended for approval.
I was told the Oath letter will be send in few days and the ceremony will be within a month.
I was in for hardly 10 minutes and came out with a big smile.

    Hi
I wasn't participating in the discussion, but I just wanted to give you guys an update on my N400 journey, because I always like reading all posts about successful journeys. Here is mine:

Office location: West Palm Beach, FL
Applied: Online, 12/14/2017; under 3 year rule, married to US citizen
    Biometrics appt scheduled: 12/16/2017
    Biometrics appt: 1/5/2018
    Interview scheduled: 3/5/2018
    Interview: 4/9/2018
    Oath scheduled: 4/13/2018

So, overall fast processing of N400. Had my interview today and oath is scheduled for Friday, 4/13/2018. So, 1 day before 5 months from application to citizenship.
Note that on my USCIS account at this moment still says Estimated case completion time: December 2018. This moved from January 2019 to December 2018.

Interview was quick, not even 15 minutes. We got there 30 minutes earlier, and was called in almost on schedule. Wife had to wait outside. The interviewing lady was very nice, talking calm, slow pace, so really no stress. Review of application, speaking and reading quick test of 1 sentence: Reading: On 4 of July we celebrate Independence day. Writing: Independence day is in July. Then 6 quick questions on politics and history. And that was it. She said I was approved, gave me the receipt and told me to wait in the waiting room to get details for oath ceremony on Friday. 15 minutes later I got the notice with oath ceremony details

Good luck to all of you still waiting! I'm leaving for Europe for a month this summer and when I booked the flight, I had no idea I will be travelling as a US citizen

    Hi All,
I have been following visajourney for long time, ever since I started my permanent resident journey, but never posted anything in here.
During my citizenship journey, what I noticed is that only a few Denver applicants were posting in this forum, and it was hard when I was looking for people and their experiences.

Here is more or less my timeline:
    Application sent:                                         Sometime April 2017
    FP done:                                                       5/19/2017
Status changed to inline for interview:    5/26/2017
    Notification of interview scheduled:         2/26/2018
    Interview letter received:                             3/3/ 2018
    Interview & Oath:                                          4/3/2018

Yesterday I finished my journey and became American, so I wanted to share my experience with all of you to see if it helps a little to those of you still waiting.
I had my interview at the Centennial office yesterday at 9:50 AM. I arrived 30 minutes early and went through security check (similar to airports, including shoes and belt off). I was directed to the second floor, where I sat until my IO called me, at almost exactly 9:50 AM.
The interview started with the civics test. I was asked 6 questions that I responded correctly:
1 - Who is the Governor of Colorado now
2 - One promise you do when you become US Citizen.
3 - Who is the father of our country
4 - What movement tried to end racial discrimination
5 - Where is the Statue of Liberty
    6 - Name 2 National US Holidays.
The English test consisted only to read one sentence: "The president lives in the White House" and write the same sentence.

After that the IO started reviewing my application, asking again all the yes/no questions and making some notes in red pen.
At the end she read to me some of the changes she made to my application, like trips outside the US, and she said that I pass the test, gave me a form indicating that I was approved and another form to bring to the ceremony which took place in the afternoon in the same building.
I brought with me copies of almost everything, but I was only asked for passport, Green Card, and State photo ID.
In total, the interview took about 20 minutes. The IO was formal, professional, but cordial at the same time.
The ceremony was good and fun, with 50 new citizens from 22 different countries.
Now it is over and I can proudly say that I am American.

Good luck to all of you still waiting, fellow Denver applicants.

Today I went for my interview... Here's my experience.

I arrive at 8:30 for a 8:50 interview. Checked in as usual and waited for my number to be called. Around 9:15 I was called, my officer was a female. We walked all the way to the back to her office down the hall. In her office before I sat down I was asked to stay standing and raise my right and swear to tell the truth blah blah blah... Sat down and interview started, she ask for my passport, green card and ID. Reviewed my application confirming my social security, address, DOB etc. Then we proceeded to the Yes/No questions, then asked if I travel outside the US while my application was pending which I did twice and I advised. Then she asked me if I filed my tax for this year and I advised yes and she asked to see my transcript luckily I printed it out. I signed my application and that was it with that part.

We proceeded to the English part, was asked to read a sentence "When is President's Day?" and then she asked me to write the answer "President's Day is in February" (I was a little nervous and I had little moment where I couldn't spell February for a sec  of course I snapped out of it fast hahaha)

Then proceeded to the civics questions:
    - What is one promise you make when you become a United States Citizen? Be loyal to the United States
    - Who is the Governor of your state now? Rick Scott
-Who was was the first President? George Washington
-What movement tried to end racial discrimination? Civil rights movement
-Name two national U.S holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas

She advise me that I passed and handed me a paper with "Congratulations" ticked and she advised me that I'll get a letter with the Oath date. And we were done.

She walked me out. Interview lasted about 15min with no hiccups or anything.

    Almost done... Yay!!

Hey all, I had my interview and oath ceremony this past Monday, everything went smooth sailing, a huge thank you to everyone on this forum that's helped me along the way (18 years since I arrived in this country)! Here are my running notes from interview day for reference:

The interview is held at the USCIS Field Office in Newark. You go through the security scanner like in an airport. Interviews are held on floors 14 and 15 (I was 14). When you step out of the elevator there’s a seated guard who checks your appointment letter. There’s also a cafe on the second floor.

Once you walk in, you give your appointment letter at window 2 and ‘get in queue’ - don't need to take a number. They let you use your phone on silent now in the wait room (make sure you're at 100%!), there’s also a TV playing.

My appointment was at 8:30am, I got in around 8:10, and had to wait 90 minutes for my turn. Sometimes people that have come after you get called before, so be prepared for that.

My IO called me in around 9:45. I followed her through a narrow passageway with rows of offices. Once we entered her office, as expected, made me stand and swore me in first.

We started with a review of my application. In my case, she told me that even though I applied under marriage, since I’d been a resident for more than 5 years, she was going to ask me questions about myself and not ask evidence about the marriage.

We went through my N-400 in a fair amount of detail, she re-verified everything on my application. My address and job had changed so she updated that in the system. We spent the most time on my travel, as I have over 20 international trips in the past 5 years. She didn’t ask me a lot of questions about any specific trips, but verified the details with their records in the system. Embarrassingly, I had an incorrect date in my application (wrong month) for one of my travels which she couldn’t find initially, but then figured out what happened. She also asked to see all my previous passports. Finally, she finished up with the long list of ‘no’ questions.

The test portion was smooth, the 6 civics questions I got were, 1) 1 right from amendments, 2) why Cold War, 3) why colonialists came to America, 4) who leads executive branch, 5) who’s next in line after president, and 6) 1 voting amendment. Then a quick reading and writing sample.

She approved me on the spot (and I could breathe again)!

I took the elevator to 15th floor as that’s where they do oath ceremonies and infopass appointments. I filled out the back of my I-445 while I was waiting. I had to wait about 60 minutes for them to print out a copy of the certificate. They call your name to the window and ask you to verify your details before printing the original. In my case, the details were all fine. I was asked to sit back again.

There was an oath ceremony at 11am, but I didn't have my 'white envelope' by then, so I couldn't attend. They didn't have a noon ceremony that day so one of the IOs came out and told everyone to grab a bite and be back by 1. I was thankful they gave an ETA because I was starving by then. I went outside, got fresh air, hung out on the 2nd floor cafeteria for a while, and came back to the 15th floor by 12:45. Around 1:30, they called all the oath-takers to follow into the ceremony hall.

The hall is huge, though only 40 oath-takers can go in at one time. Family and friends are allowed, there was no limit at the time I went. We sat down, got our instructions. They told us how may countries were represented. Our supervisor who was leading the ceremony gave a great, moving speech. We did our recitals and, 45 minutes later, I was naturalized! Took some photos/selfies (no video) and I was out. All in all, took 6 hours but time well spent!

Happy to help with any inquiries while it's fresh in my head...

Interviewing officer was very very sweet and kind, she was joking and laughing with me, it couldn't have been better than it was, the civics question were very easy
    She asked:
    1) what happened on 9/11
    2) the 13 stripes on the flag
    3) what is the rule of the law
    4) ocean on west coast
    5)name of the national anthem
    6) how old do citizens have to be to vote
She didn't really look at any paperwork I had except for my marriage certificate.
I figured I'll post what happened to help anyone out.
I wish all the best for everyone.

    Hi everyone,

I just had my combo interview yesterday on March 27, 2018 at Salt Lake City, Utah. The entire process is very smooth. Here are some details about my interview experience:

-We arrived at the field office around 12:10 pm, and there were not a lot of people there, we waited for about 15 mins then the office called us. The officer was very nice and knew that we are a military family as he was prior military personnel as well. First, he had us raised our right hands and swore that we will tell the truth. After that, he just looked through my I-751 file and asked me if we have more evidence since 2016, I gave him bank statements, utility bills, insurance card, etc, and the officer just punched it and added those into the file. At the same time we were just casually chatting and he was just doing his own thing on the application and didn't ask any question and seconds later, he said " This one is approved, and now I will have to excuse you to lobby while I conduct N-400 interview with you husband". So, that was it for I-751, very quick and smooth, no issue at all.
-For my N-400, he didn't really ask any more stuff and we were just chatting while he putting in information in his computer and moments later, he gave me to papers and asked me to read "Who can vote?" and asked  me to write "Citizens can vote" and I passed all of them, after that we started the civic test, I only remembered 4 out of 6 questions cause I just can't not remember all of them lol. But here are the questions were asked:

    1. Who were brought to the US and sold as slaves?
    2. What the name of the Vice President?
    3. Who did the colonists fight the British?
    4. What is the highest court in the US?

After that, the officer informed me that I am all done and approved. Then the officer informed me that the next oath ceremony is on April 11, but I told him that my husband is deploying to Korea during that time and we are moving to our new station in the summer right after his return, and I will need him to be at the ceremony for the special moment. The officer is kind and nice to ask his supervisor to see if we could take oath right there and then. We waited for about 20 mins or so then we were called into the conference room and I was swore in by the center director.

I am so happy to announce that I am a proud citizen!

The interview went ok, I passed the tests, but officer said he is in charge of 400 only, he has to talk to his supervisor about my husband's tough situation(My husband has been in the hospital in and out for almost a month he is on feeding tube and the recovery is unclear), he said they have to approve 751 first, I submitted the request to expedite the oath ceremony, and I had additional evidence for 751 with me, he said he did not need anymore evidence since we had submitted enough of it. I showed the evidence of Stan's medical condition and dr's letters and explained the urgency of expediting the oath ceremony based on humanitarian ground(Stan's last wish to see me become a citizen), he said he would talk to the supervisor tomorrow. One more thing is that there is an IRS bill of 236 dollars, he told me I might need proof of that we paid(we did), and then he said he would just forget about it, he said just wait, there may or may not be a 751interview, but they may waive the interview due to Stan's critical medical condition. Very frustrating they can't reach a decision today, but I am not surprised, if they have to reschedule the interview, I will get my lawyer and have a medical team right next to my husband from the hospital. It is just grueling. I hope the supervisor will see the medical evidence I submitted and approve my application before it is too late. Just have to wait and see at this point.

Wow. Her arriving illegally does make it not so straight forward then. To the officer, your marriage could be a sham marriage in order for your wife to become legal. Wish you had waited to become a citizen before marrying her then it could have been easier.

Every single day! 😁 Since we are doing confessions... While I am happy for everyone here who is moving forward quickly, including those who filed with us and already had their oath, I get a little bit jealous ans frustrated. Even my friend who filed with me on the same date got her interview notice. I am only frustrated because of my mom. She lives alone in my home country, she is elderly, and I want to bring her here asap. So, this process not moving forward just angers me so much because I know on top of the waiting game we have with the citizenship, we have the 1+ year I-130 waiting game. I can’t move there to be with her because I have my husband and my life here. It all just breaks my heart to be so powerless with immigration. Sorry for the venting, I am sure many of you are going through the same situation.

NikeS reacted to Going through in Disappointing Oath Ceremony
So ok...this was my experience at my Oath Ceremony today in Brooklyn.

Went through security relatively quickly and easily considering I showed up a good 40 minutes early.   Now, I had gone ahead and called Camdan Plaza East where the ceremony was going to be held, so I already knew that no cameras or cell phones were permitted in the courthouse (whether participants or guests), and I already was aware that there would be a possibility that guests were not able to view the actual ceremony.

All Queens, NY filers must have their oath ceremony at the court house regardless of whether or not a name-change is requested.  Just how it's done for Queens filers.   The building itself is beautiful inside, with wide spiral staircases, and lots of marble and artwork on the walls.   Headed up to the 2nd floor, where my husband and child were directed to the 3rd floor cafeteria.  I asked if they would be able to view the ceremony at all, and was told they would be called down later on.

Fast forward to 8:30AM when we got started with everything.  Applicants were taking up only 3 rows of the court benches, so it wasn't a long process to get everyone situated with how to fill out the back of the Oath Letter.   A few moments later, a representative from the voter registration office gave a small speech on how to vote and pressed us to fill out the application form and immediately hand it back over to her, and then she left the room never to be seen again.   After that, no one spoke to us or gave out any information on how the day would go, or welcomed us, nothing like that and participants were pretty much left on our own to just sit there and wait for....whatever was going to happen next.

We were called up again to hand over the green card and receive an envelope.  Inside the envelope was a hard folder to place our certificate in, a copy of the oath, the passport application, and information on voting/serving on a jury.  Wish I'd gotten a flag, but oh well.  No welcoming letter from the President, but truth be told I didn't really expect one.

After about an hour, another lady started talking to us about passport applications and telling us that we can apply for the passport anytime after the ceremony (but not with them in any way, must be done through the post office or passport agency).  One person asked a rather simple question about the form, and when the staff didn't understand him due to a language barrier, I re-stated the question more coherently (I was sitting infront of him). The man was then replied to in a long, drawn-out condescending way that he "shouldn't be asking them anything about passports---ask us about immigration only!  When you go to the post office, you ask them questions about the post office, right???  I can't tell you anything about passports or the post office because I don't know anything about that."  Kind of went on and on increasingly condescendingly....okaaaayyyy....well they DID present the passport application forms to us and asked if people had any questions, but whatever.  She then stated we should apply for our SS status to be changed no less than 10 days after the oath ceremony, and asked if we had any questions about that process.  No one said a peep, probably because they were afraid of being lectured for asking a question.

After another wait, the 3rd lady came into the room and started setting herself up at a desk.  I was sitting in the front and could hear the staff conversations taking place since the room was nearly silent, and they were only a few feet away seated at the table.  At that point, one of them said to her "did you bring the country list?"  to which she replied "nah I didn't bother with it".  From reading other oath ceremony threads, and watching videos, I knew then that there would be no announcement of the countries recognized at the ceremony, which was a downer to me because I was looking forward to that part....almost like feeling like our immigration success was a global community effort we all shared in, but wasn't going to happen at my ceremony today.   It was also sad that they just seemed to decide on-the-spot to not be bothered with it and brush it off for whatever personal reason the woman had (maybe laziness?).

Soon enough, boredom sets in, since we are not being engaged in any way, and a few of us (myself included) start chatting among ourselves, not loudly.  We have a few giggles discussing our immigration journeys, what country we are from, etc. and generally how we're happy to become citizens.  About 10 minutes into our conversation, one of the workers comes over to us and ----- to my disbelief ---- tells us "You are getting too excited about this now, alright?  You all calm down and be quiet."  We, as a small group, were stunned that we were actually told to stop socializing with each other and just continue to sit there staring ahead in silence.  Personally, I was flabbergasted that she implied we shouldn't even be HAPPY about reaching this day in our lives.

One of the workers stood up and threatened everyone that if they didn't hand in all previous USCIS-issued documents (EADs and expired GC's) to them now or failed to mail them in at a later date "We have everything on file so we already know.  We can find out...I'm just letting you know we will find out"  I felt this was completely unnecessary of them to say this out-of-the-blue, and in a passive-aggressive manner.

Afterwards, we were called up by line to view our naturalization certificates.  As we approached the desk in single file, the lady barked out "what's your number?!" without explaining exactly what number she was referring to (I learned quickly she meant the last 3 digits of the alien number) then whipped out the certificate and gave each person literally a two-second glance at it before barking at us "sign your name!"  To the woman's eye-rolling annoyance, I refused to give it barely a 2-second glance, knowing this would be the only time I could get the certificate corrected for free, and looked over everything not just my name. Upon sitting down, I remarked purposefully loudly to the woman next to me (who whispered to me how rude she was) "You know, I've never been referred to as just a number before, I thought they only did that in jail."  The other worker met my eyes and slightly smiled sympathetically.  I think even SHE was wondering why her co-worker was so abrupt with everyone, despite her *own* prior unpleasantness towards participants.

One poor girl who had requested a name change pointed out to the worker that the certificate didn't reflect her request.  The worker asked her what her name was supposed to be, and then flippantly remarked "Well they didn't do it.  Sign your name!"  The young lady, for obvious reasons, hesitated in signing it and the worker looked up at her and actually said "What's the problem?"  When the lady repeated that her name is not as requested on the certificate, she was again told to sign it as written.  She did end up signing it, and then respectfully asked "What do I do now, though, about the wrong name?"  The lady abruptly said "You have to go to civil court." and LITERALLY TURNED HER BACK TO HER in her swivel chair!!!  Completely ignored her until she walked away, head down, and confused.   "Next---what's your number?!"

Our families did eventually come down and were herded together into a small section partially away from us all.

The judge arrived, we all rose out of respect and then were told to be seated again.  The judge immediately told us that she had just found out this morning that she would be presiding (from eavesdropping on the staff, I could hear them discussing which judge to call to administer the oath just before).  She gave a brief 5-minute off-the-cuff speech about the importance of voting, and serving on a jury.  There was no discussion about the importance of the day, no talk about immigrants contributing to the country, no mention about personal experience with the process.  Just a statement about voting, and jury duty---and a mention of "Happy Diwali" to those celebrating it.  She also introduced her new office clerk to us, a disinterested looking young man sitting next to her.  Overall, she had a pleasant personality, just wished something more poignant was said.  Anything.  Anything at all.   Something to make the day seem special.  Near the end of her comments, she spoke about how we should go forth and be respectable members of society and pay our taxes.  I noticed a few side-eyes being given and maybe we all thought the same thing....that we already *have* been paying taxes and *have* been good members of society.

We took the oath of allegiance, and then recited the pledge of allegiance.  We all clapped for ourselves and each other.  The judge handed us our certificate and shook our hands with a perfunctory "congratulations" and then we were immediately directed to leave the courthouse.  Her new clerk, adding to his aura of disinterest, stood next to her with his hands in his pockets, not speaking unless directly spoken to.

All in all, it was a disappointing day.  There was no memorable moment, no feeling of a journey acknowledged, no special gathering, no poignant moment where I felt included as a citizen, no....niceness....about the entire experience.  I remarked to my husband later that it felt like I had just left another USCIS appointment where I just handed over some paperwork.  It was abrupt, the staff seemed mostly annoyed with our presence, rude for the most part, and just an anti-climatic moment all-around since my immigration process began.

Am I happy that my journey is over and I'm a citizen as the main thing?  Yes, I suppose so.  Just wish more thought was put into making it an actual special day for people who have struggled, and sweated, and cried, and stressed and sacrificed to make it as far as they did.  Previously reading other people's oath ceremonies in different cities/states had me thinking today wouldn't be "just like any other day".

All in all, the highlight of my ceremony was giving @vkhutchings a hug as we congratulated each other outside of the courtroom.

So that's it.  Oh yeah, that sums up nicely how I felt as soon as I left the courthouse.... "That's it?"

I went for an Infopass apppointment today - basically to find out where I am in the system. Yet again my FO in Milwaukee WI is nearly empty (that has been my experience each time I’ve been there over the years, it is not a busy office if you ask me). I told the officer I saw the status message saying “USCIS has scheduled your interview and will mail you the appointment notice” since January 2018. First thing he did was to confirm if indeed a letter had been prepared/mailed to me. None.
He had a colleague who seemed to have higher authorization to view cases in depth, she searched through the system and confirmed what we all know here on VJ already - that message simply indicates we are in-line for interview scheduling.
She did say I could get an interview date any day now as I’m way up on the list but it isn’t up to a person but the computer system, which makes the selection. Both officers expressed frustration with the new computer system which has been running for 1 year now and the backlog of cases nationwide which they say runs parallel with the previous paper-filer record system.
I was told within a week or two I should get scheduled if not then I should check back in a month.
No, you can’t do anything to fast track getting your interview scheduled. And Yes, I asked. 😀
