888888 got a reaction from Ippsy Pippsy in There should be a VIP line for K1 processing
Good question. Looking at some of the responses, I am baffled. Actually, there are other Visas that can be expedited through Premium Processing. Why should the K-1 be treated any differently? It already is not a fair process. The applications are not being done in order of receipt. Some Centers move faster than others at any given period. Some countries / situations are approved for an expedite, with no additional cost.
We would have gladly paid to make this process go quicker. Premium process for a premium price. At least give us an OPTION.

Lisa I agree....which is why I had initially thought this site wasn't for me. The strong opinions just really took me by surprise is all. I've got a lot going on in my life right now and probably too sensitive. I was able to stop the thread and I'm happy to stay and get the advice I was hoping for.

Nobody wants to wait but we do it because we have no other choice. Did you want to wait? When you received your NOA1, how long did you want to wait? Its easier for you because you are already got your NOA2.
If there was an option to expedite the process for extra fee, so what? It doesn't mean take my money, process my visa first then get to others. With more money they would hire more people to do the same job.
People talk about not being fair for others. How does it NOT fair when USCIS will hire more people for processing all because of those who paid? Yes it will be unfair if they don't increase their staff and I was not suggesting that AT ALL. I was only saying that if there are some people who are willing and can afford to pay more to get their visas processed faster, then USCIS will increase their staff to do that. Keep in mind that EVERYBODY is in the same batch right now. Processing times for both who paid and didn't pay will get shorter...

No. But have some compassion. You also made it out in 4 months. I am happy for you. But look at how many are now having to wait 200, 250 or 300 days. They are struggling far worse than you had too.
Full disclosure: I am less than 90 days in. I have no idea how I will suffer the wait (although I know that I will, because I have absolutely no choice in the matter).

    FINALLY someone understands my point...
Not sure why people take this very personal, it was just an opinion and I wanted to know how other people felt but I guess most of them focused on the wrongs aspects of VIP

I think there should be a VIP K1 processing where they can process your K1 within a month for an extra fee. I am sure a lot of us would gladly pay more rather then just wait Obviously the name would not be VIP but you get my point.
    Don't you guys agree?

You seriously need to talk to her, not send her back. This is why I hate arranged marriages. Haven't you watched Hum dil da chuka sanam? Be patient and help her with whatever her issue is. Either she will fall in love with you for being such a great guy and everything well be great or you will have peace of mind you did the right thing.
As for who you can complain to. Just be patient, she has to go to another interview in 2 years to renew her green card and without a real relationship, it will fall through...she well have to leave. But I recommend trying to work it out.
    idk about divorce.

I highly recommend speaking to your baby in your foreign tongue. I worked as an au pair in Europe. The parents only spoke to their children in their language because they did not want their children to get their heavy accents when they spoke English. Their au pair worked with the children 30 hours/week (from birth) and now their children speak perfect English in an American accent. I highly recommend speaking to your child from the beginning in your foreign tonue!

I'm always on the edge, it took almost 8 months before we got NO2 approval and I thought our application @USCIS was some how accidently shredded. Me and God have had plenty of conversations with me begging and crying< 'why is it taking so long?"...there are people who have been approved way before us, but I finally realize that everyone's situation is different. If you get approved fast/early...then GOD BLESS YOU!!!

I have some very basic, plain talk suggestions for those who are very young and just starting out.

Put away some money every month towards savings. If you have the opportunity for payroll deduction to be deposited straight to your savings account, then you never see it in your checking account. Get in the habit of saving.
Pay your credit card balance in full every month. If you can't, then you are spending too much. If you have already accrued a huge balance, then you've dug a hole it's hard to climb out of.
Open a savings account for your kids when they are babies. Put something in each month.
If you have an opportunity to contribute to a 401k especially If the employer will match your contributions, it's a good deal---free money from your employer. Try to contribute at least up to the amount they match.
You don't need every one of the latest gadgets that comes out. You can survive without an iPhone even though all the cool kids have them. If you can't pay off your credit cards or make it to the end of the month on your paycheck, then don't get the cool stuff that isn't essential.
If you have a mortgage and intend to stay put in that house, consider paying a little extra each month. Get an amortization table that shows how much is going toward the loan balance and how much is interest out of each payment. Early in a mortgage, most of it is interest.
Let's say your payment #8 is $800 ( $25 to the loan + $775 interest) if you pay just an additional $25 one month, you are jumping ahead a whole payment to #10 without the $700+ interest. Use some of your tax refund to to make a lump payment. I took 10 years off my 30 year mortgage early on doing that. I will admit that my dad gave me $1k or maybe $2k for Christmas and said the stipulation was use it toward the mortgage. I was blown away at how much I shortened the mortgage...something a 25 year old probably doesn't know. But it taught me how it works and I was thrilled to have a house paid off about the time the kids started college.

You know, it is difficult to make a huge change in your life especially when you feel it is not for the better. I for one struggled with it myself...great job, great country that i lived in for 12 years of my life (Switzerland) and now I am to move somewhere with lack of jobs not knowing whether I can actually get a good job and continue my career path....it is a lot of unknowns and a lot to swallow and of course there is more to it than that....sometimes it feels like I am making a bad choice until I realize that without my fiance...no matter how much money i make, no matter how clean and ordered and perfect the country i moved from was....i was not really happy only comfortable living to work. He is what makes me want to wake up in the morning with a smile on my face and if it means making this huge move and change then I will. He is where my heart is and that is all that matters, the rest....we will work out together. He will help me and i am sure your significant other will do the same for you. Did you talk to your spouse about this ?
Just thought I'd chime in with my feelings.

While I'm on the subject of education.....
Growing up here, I have many friends in the NYPD. One of the greatest college programs that I've ever seen is the NYPD Police Cadet Corps.
No one ever heard of it. Yet (in my opinion) it's much much better than any ROTC or military sponsored programs. And it's really easy to get into....
    Lets start with the benefits.
1-You get a part time job that pays around 14 dollars an hr. 20 hr weeks for administrative police work. You can have more hrs if you ask for it. You can make your own hrs on a 24/7 schedule. 40 Hr work weeks during school breaks.
2- You get up to 50,000 dollars in tuition assistance. (In the form of a student loan)
3- If you subsequently serve 2 years as a NYC Police Officer, that loan is forgiven.
    4.- You get hiring preference.
    Now the requirements....
You'd have to google NYPD cadet corps. I know the requirements are fairly simple. You don't have to be a genius, you don't need great grades. You do have to have some college (I think to prove that you're a serious student). You do have to go through a background check.
For those of you that read my story about my friend Mary (whose father abandoned 2 families). She went through this NYPD cadet Corps. And that's my source of info.

I don't have a clue on a 529, I probably not doing the smartest thing by accruing my wife's money in our savings at such a small interest rate but I need large amount in the fall for the 2 of the kids tuition and down payment for the house, so I couldn't tie my money up in the Roth account till after all this done and over with. Plus just sent a significant amount overseas to build my wifes mom and dad a new home. It will all come together at some point.

I put 10% in my 401k, bought a bit more term life insurance in case I croak in addition to what my job offered. Bank all my wife's earnings that we will later put into a Roth account after we pay for the kid's(4) College education and down payment on our dream house. I never turn down any overtime and continue to work my heating and Air on weekends and evenings after my full time Job.

We had our interview on the 23rd of January and we did not send anything to the Embassy, until AFTER the interview since we were missing the medical results. We brought our paperwork in hand on the day of the interview i.e proof of ongoing relationship(pictures, skype history, emails, hotel and other receipts), current letter of intent to marry one from each of us, copy of my paystubs for the previous 2.5 months, copies of my tax returns for the past 2+ years,i-134, DS156, DS156k forms... As the other poster replied look at the guide, flowchart and FAQs those helped me.
Take a few DEEP breaths and "enjoy" the final steps of this process, you are almost there.

I have agonized tonight about whether to even post this but I honestly want people to be encouraged. I know how ridiculous that sounds to those people who are out here helping others every day and yet still wait for their approvals. My heart bleeds for each and every one of you and I pray for all of you to be blessed with approvals quickly. I have been using visajourney a long time (this will be my second GC)and knowledge, experience and encouragement is the most and the best we have to offer each other.
My wife and I (she is USC) have been married ten years. I had the GC before but we moved back to Canada where we live now. Yes we filed from Canada. We got our NOA1 on January 14 and were sent to NBC. Got the e-mail late this afternoon and it is on the website also. We have been approved after - compared to what so many of you have been through - an insanely short time (32 days). I will say right now that if I were in your shoes and had been waiting 5...6...7.. or more months I would be furious. But I still wanted to let you know. You are the only people we have to share this with - and as it turns out my wife is today in the US visiting family so we weren't together when we got the word. Praise God for our blessing and I pray to God for yours.

Thank you so much to all our well wishers and to VJ and the people who contribute their time energy and personal journeys. As it has been said more than once this is not a journey for the faint of heart and if you have no patience you will surely gain some by the time it is finished. All that being said I will make du'aa for all my Islamic sisters and brothers, as well as prayers and positive energy for all those who are still waiting, God willing it will come. I also realize the longest wait may be behind us but the hardest part is still ahead. I still need my VJ friends and family and am so very grateful to have the support I have found here. Good luck God bless and God speed to all.
